I'm on a desktop, so I don't want to get any of those hints of what wonderful things I could do if this was on a touchscreen.
why would it show these things on a non-touchscreen anyway?!

View 1 Replies View RelatedInstalled it on a Fusion Garage JooJoo tablet that has a Intel Atom N270 cpu, Nvidia ION graphics, 128gb SSD, and 4gb memory. I have everything working on it accept for the accelorometer and the touch screen is reversed (i touch the top right and it touches the bottom left).
I've tried calibrating it through windows and all that does is cause the touch input to go completely crazy. I have tried multiple drivers and the only one that even remotely works is the eGalax driver but that causes the touch screen to be seen as a mouse which makes the swipe gestures impossible as well as the built in touch keyboard won't come up anymore.
I'm not worried about the accelorometer as I can just change the orientation in the nvidia control panel if need be. However having a tablet without a fully functional touch screen is pretty much useless.
The touch screen shows up in Device Manager as an HID device.

You can disabuse me and show me a website or a forum link but after 4 hours of research I am done for now.
I have a touch screen monitor on my windows 8 machine. It works fine but I have this issue. Every morning when booting PC, I have to disconnect the monitor USB cable and reconnect for the touch screen to work.
If I reboot the PC at any point after this it is fine works no problem, it just happens when pc has been left off over night.
In device manager set all usb hubs to not switch off power but can't think of anything else to do.
I think this may relate to updating this netbook from Win 8 to 8.1 (but I updated very soon after purchasing so not certain). Basically after several minutes of use, the Touchscreen doesn't respond to touch anymore. I can still use trackpad but no touchscreen.
I have installed latest updates (and drivers from Lenovo site), but still no joy. I've also tried recalibrating touch screen (via Control Panel app) but this hasn't worked (and "reset" option is greyed out).
I purchased a Samsung Ativ tab gt-P8510 but after a windows 8 RT update the touch screen stopped responding and now I have to use a mouse to work on it.

I tried Windows 8 a bit during the developer preview, but I'm really not that familiar with things, anywho. So this has a touch screen, and I've been using it a fair bit, but I'm curious about 8.1. Being the "newer" version", from what I've seen it has some improvements over regular 8 in some areas, like the apps screen looks a little tidier.
What I'm wondering though is does it also remove some of the touch features I would be using with a touch screen? Or just make them more mouse friendly. Long story short, given I have a touch screen which I am using, should I upgrade to Windows 8.1? Or will I have a better experience with regular 8?
I've read quite a few posts concerning the charm bar (read: disabling it). These posts all seem to focus around the touchpad settings.
However, what I want is to make sure the charm bar doesn't appear when I'm (right edge) swiping my touch screen.
My touch screen to my Aspire R7 laptop is no longer working. I got a notification about there not being enough power reaching the USB port, and it stopped working after that. I'm not connected to the internet, so it's not a bad update, but I don't know what the problem is, or how to fix it. When I go to PC Info, it says "No pen or touch input is available for this display" which I know is not true because I've been using it's touch screen the entire time I've had it.
a common problem is that the drivers aren't updated. I don't think this is my problem as I haven't installed any updates today (I haven't been connected to the internet) and it's been working fine prior to just now.
The battery is fully charged (and was at 50% when I got the notification), so the power shouldn't be an issue.

I have a Thinkpad X61 Tablet. It was running Windows 7 Ultimate before I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro. When I invoked the Touch Keyboard in Desktop mode, the window would automatically resize as I type (i.e. window on top, keyboard below). However, this weekend I performed a clean install of Windows 8 since I wasn't happy with some of the quirks from an upgrade. Now, I can no longer get the automatic screen resize when I initiate the Touch Keyboard (i.e. window stays behind keyboard, making it hard to see what I am typing). Are there settings I need to change? Is it something that was carried over from Windows 7 during my upgrade but I deleted it with my clean install?
Update: Just figured out how to get the automatic resize. You have to maximize the Touch Keyboard. I guess I must have been using it in maximized form without realizing it.

Used to be much louder, then this afterneed it just went soft on me. Is there a setting somewhere to restore the keyboard click loudness?
I cannot get the touch keyboard or picture password to come up consistently at logon screen. I had to go to services to make the touch-service work with desktop and logon (it was unchecked). Now, at fresh start-up or restart I can get the keyboard by touch but will not get it again if I log off and log back on. And under no conditions do I get the picture password option although I have a picture set up for it.

I've tried just about everything, but can't seem to find a setting to stop this action. The screen on my laptop (Sony Flip 15A, intel4400/geforce735) seems to increase and decrease in brightness between screens. It's rather annoying not just because of the change, but also because it takes several seconds to occur and it occurs in discrete steps. I'm running the latest drivers from both intel and nvidia. I've tried turning off adaptive brightness and disabling the sensor service, and all effects (fade in, UAC, etc) have been turned off. A video of the condition is shown below:

It even happen when no programs are opening/closing - for example, if I view a dark background web page and then a lighter background, the brightness shifts. I can't imagine how awful this will be in photoshop.
I'm trying to extend my desktop screen on my TV. I have my laptop connected through an HDMI cable to the TV. When I choose extend desktop, nothing is shown on the TV. The TV is blank. Windows does detect the TV screen because both displays show up in the "Screen resolution" dialog. The TV also indicates that it has a signal.
The screen has been extended because when I move the mouse to edge of the screen, instead of stopping, it keeps going. When I drag a window, it does not stop at the edge but it keeps going. However, neither the mouse or the window is shown on the TV. Of course, I can move the mouse and window back to the laptop.
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop, Windows 8.1, Intel Core i3-4010u, 6GB RAM, Integrated Intel HD graphics. I have Sceptre X325BV-FMDR TV. Not sure if this is an issue with my TV or laptop.
When I am in my start screen and I touch my desktop tile to get into my desktop I don't get into it. I either get into IE or into the last website I have been in and not closed. Can I sort this out?

Since upgrading to 8.1 I have started going directly to the Start Screen from the Lock Screen. Before in Windows 8, I went to Desktop. I have my taskbar at the bottom of Desktop which contains all the icons I want to access and it means now I am going back to Desktop from the Start. You can currently bypass the Windows welcome screen at boot time quite simply (although on Win 8 it simply takes you immediately to the start screen).
Simply do this to sign in automatically at startup:
Log On User Account Automatically at Windows 8 Startup
Reboot machine -- and you will be taken straight to the start screen.
My mouse works fine on the tile screen, but won't click when on the desktop screen. It moves fine and if I move it to the corner I can click on the setting button, but its anything on the desktop,or programs that run from the desktop that are effected.

I know this can be done via Devices/Play/Xbox/IE App but the problem is that most content won't play properly with the IE App-IE browser yes but not the App for some reason. This same content will play on Chrome but I can't screen mirror with Xbox with Chrome. I really want to be able to do this without spending more money.

I can't get past the flashing screen to enter Control panel, Safe boot or anything as the flashing is preventing me getting anywhere!! Lots of photos not backed up so don't want to lose them!
