Description:After my pc freezed all of sudden while running emulators (i also had an auto windows update few hours earlier), windows refuse to detect my GPU and NVIDIA installer keep failing...Luckily i have two GPU but i cannot use the NVIDIA one due to this issue.
ASUS Tech Support Little talk with ASUS Support and they asked if i had a critical windows update recently. They asked me to try a system restore, which seem to solve the issue (i could see the GPU card but only for some minutes). Now after that i being asked to format the pc.
Last part of the message, (Device Descriptor Request Failed). I get this, in Device Manager, and I have searched for an answer on the net. Also it is a Code 43. I went through my laptop, with an HP Technician this morning, I might add at a cost of 5p/minute, for 30 odd minutes. He has said that because I had gone over to Windows 8.1 and the recovery discs I made will not load, to put back in Windows 8. I have to send the laptop back for re-installing the OS, because Windows 8.1 do not have the update for my problem. Also the R.H. USB socket has a failure ID:0GAPTK-6T7716-MFPWWK-8D1Q03. I personally think that this is all what the problem is. a duff USB. Is this a cop-out???
Does Windows 8.1 having driver WHQL problems?
I only found out the problem with the usb when I tried to download a Mobi file to a Kindle for my wife. The other usb's work OK.
an error message in Device Manager when installing the network attached storage drives like MyBook Live, the drives themselves seem to work fine and i have access to them (most of the time) on my home netwok, however i keep getting that little yellow triangle telling me that something is wrong, specifically:
the device manager error code is This device cannot start. (Code 10)
I can not found Imaging Device option , due to which my integrated webcam is not working ... I am Using Dell inspiron 5520 , I have tried millions of things ...
First my computer when bought came pre installed with Windows 7. As soon as Windows 8 came out I upgraded to Windows 8. My system is BIOS not UEFI. I have about 3gb ram and 500gb hdd drive 2.20 ghz processor. Windows 8 runs really smoothly. So recently 2-3 days ago I decided to dual boot Ubuntu with Windows 8. Before when I had Windows 7 I dual booted it with Windows 8. So now I thought about dual booting with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. The Installation process was fine until I take out the installation usb with Ubuntu and whenever I try to restart it the PC would hang on the oem screen for a while which is ridiculously long.
Then when I would boot into Windows 8 and sign in I would get a notification message saying the last storage device you plugged in isn't found. I went to the device manager in Windows and it would say an unknown device has been found and even if I tried to Uninstall it would come back again. I tried searching for updates but nothing came up. I googled it and got no results. What annoys me the most is the PC hanging on the oem screen. Right now I fresh installed Windows 8 so it's the only OS running at the moment. But I want Ubuntu 12.04 LTS because of git, ssh and all the server side stuff. I have also posted the error screenshot for more info.
I have a Dell XPS 15Z, which I bought off a friend. They recently updated to Windows 8 and so now thats what I have. But when i go into my drivers its telling me that i have an unknown driver. no solutions online have answered my questions though some came close. So, this is what i know:
Unknown Device
Device Type: Other devices Manufacturer: Unknown Location: on PCI Express Root Complex
Hardware Ids:
ACPIVEN_SMO&DEV_8800 ACPISMO8800 *SMO8800
i don't know if this is related but my laptop also wont charge. I just bought a new AC Adapter to replace the one i had, and it still isn't charging. The light blinks red 4-5 times and blue/green once. ive searched online to see what the problem is but i cannot do some of the fixes as the computer is at 0% battery.
I'm not truly the best with computers, and this is a new pop up for me. I just purchased this new dell laptop in May and have had no problems with it. However, in the last few weeks I've been getting a new pop up in the right hand corner. My house hold have a wireless router that is password protected. I have McAfee Security Center updated, and shows that all my firewalls and security systems are on and active.
However, this is the message I get and I'm concerned about my networks safety:
"Unknown PC or device detected
This PC or device has connected to your network:
IP Adress xxxxxxx"
I've opened my action center to make sure everything is okay, and the only thing I find that isn't turned on is the "Network Access Protection" - which is something I haven't touched before, nor does it provide a link in which to turn it on.
I just reinstalled my PC, obviously with windows 8. And I can't seem to play games, i mostly play COD4 and whenever I join a game, I get an Dirextx error, or my PC just reboots..
I don't know if it has something to do with my LPC INTERFACE controller.
LPC One:
on Intel(R) ICH8/ICH8R Family LPC Interface Controller - 2810
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
Games one:
directx unrecoverable error
And I used to get 'AMD Driver timed out, and succesfully rebooted" something like that.
This is my setup:
OS: Windows 8 MOBO: FOXXCONN p9657aa-8ks2h CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 RAM: 2GB ddr2 GPU: Club3D Radeon HD 6970 Coolstream Edition HDD: dont know really, 300gb
I installed my fresh Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64 bits (build 9600), on my Acer V3-571G laptop.
When I go to device manager, and I want uninstall this driver.
--> Imaging devices --> and Bluetooth,
When I Disable and Uninstall them, then, it's seems te drivers are gone! But when I restarts mine Laptop, the Imaging devices and bluetooth, comes back?
Why is that? How I can complete remove that? In the standard Windows 8 (not 8.1) that was possible? But 8.1?
I think I know what "Bluetooth" is, and since I didn't think I needed it, I disabled it in Device Manager. Also, uninstalled it in Add & Remove programs. But I just ran the 'reliability monitor' / view reliability history, and saw all the "successful" installations of "Bluetooth". There were "nine" listings. More then I removed.
I have been checking what works and doesn't work to speed up and improve performance of my computer. And the plan is very much working. The computer is working great, with average boot times under 40 seconds, and my Firefox browser is 'flying'. Since I am adding some more memory in a day or two, I'm trying to see what works and do a 'reformat', complete reinstallation of the system. Setting up everything the way I want it. "Right" the first time if you will, and then be done with any testing and just using the computer.
Anyway, obviously, I'm not touching "Bluetooth". But what is it, and why does windows 8.1 think I need it. I don't have any wireless stuff, if that's what its for. And I just assumed that if I ever did need 'wireless', I would just download something.
Dell Inspiron 3647 computer, 3GHz, 4 gig's memory, all windows updates, windows 8.1.

Ive just done a clean installation of Windows 8. I checked device manager straight away. There was a listing under Other Devices with an exclamation mark listed only as "Media". Ive never seen that before so I havent a clue what it referred to. When I clicked on its properties it said Internal High Definition Audi Bus. Was this a serious issue..maybe a corrupted installation?
I wasn't sure what to do but because I had installed from Windows CD and not factory image I had to go to the Dell site and then install the Intel Chipset software. I then rebooted. The Media icon and exclamation error then disappeared from Device Manager.
Was it the Reboot of my PC that got rid of it or was it the Intel Chipset software being installed that sorted it out? Also what is "Media" referring to or is it just a generic term? Also, Im always confused as to what is the difference between an exclamation mark and the blue question mark on a white background in Device Manager which Ive seen before too?
I'm running Windows 8.1 on a SDD with a second HDD along side it. Inside the Device Manager I disabled my second HDD and rebooted my system.
Windows started as normal, but a few key windows programs have stopped working: - Task Manager - Device Manager (basically all control panel functions) - Powershell (Command Prompt Works, but can't be opened with administrative rights)
The main problem is that I now can't enable my second HDD. Why the HDD is needed for these programs and how I can re-enable my HDD?
My Windows 8.1 box keeps crashing in device manager upon any "refresh." For example, scanning for hardware changes, installing/uninstalling something, or updating anything. I've gone through and updated any drivers that I saw were old, but no joy. Uploading the SF Diag output as well.
I can open device manager, but whenever I try any function, search for new hardware, update drivers, disable device, etc, device manager crashes with the error "Microsoft Management Console Has Stopped Working." Other Management console programs work fine (event viewer, performance monitor).
I've run sfc /scannow half a dozen times. I've run it from a clean boot, I've run it 3 times in a row, I've run it, restarted, and then run it again. No errors found.

I recently bought a used Sapphire HD7970 GHZ Edition 3GB, which I got quite cheaply but it did need a little work doing to it.
Firstly the fan cable had, in the hands of the original user, somehow snapped and they had repaired it to run on a normal motherboard 4 pin fan lead. When I got the card the DIY repair had practically fallen apart but I was able to reconnect it all and both fans do spin (not sure if they are running fast enough but they are spinning and moving a little bit of air).
Anyway, second problem was the card had one of the two BIOSes flashed with an incorrect BIOS (seller said it was a BIOS of a different model of 7970) and needs reflashing.
So I fixed the fan lead, verified at least some cooling was happening and was able to get to Windows (8.1 64 bit) with it. However, in the device manager the card has the yellow exclamation mark and says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". I tried installing the AMD drivers regardless but they fail with warnings though still prompt to reboot, I rebooted on the hope they might have still installed but next thing Windows blue screens (well the Windows 8 version of it) with an unhandled exception warning and does this every time until I make it do a system restore then the card operates like it did before in that it outputs a picture but won't take the driver and fails to run anything more than 2D applications.
The seller has confirmed the good BIOS is already selected (he said it won't even boot to Windows on the other one) and recommended some beta drivers but these didn't work. I have also tried using Display Driver Uninstaller to remove all traces of old drivers (and manually deleted all AMD/ATI files and registry references) but no progress.
So why am I getting the code 43? Is there a diagnostic program that can tell me exactly what is stopping the card from working? How I might get this card up and running again?
My audio disappeared and stopped working. my audio icon has a red x on it and when i click it it wants to detect problems (it doesn't work).
what should i do? how should I diagnose the audio? I feel like this is hardware problem as it just happened out of the blue. The audio board has a USB connection (which is working) so the connection from it to the mother board is fine.
Installing and updating the driver did nothing. I can't get the device manager to detect the hardware (scanning does nothing).
I cannot get the scanning component of my new printer to work. The "scanner" appears in device manager but has an error (yellow exclamation), it seems that the installation of the scanner network driver fails every time I try to install it. The printer prints fine just will not scan. I have it wirelessly installed and am using Windows 8.1 currently.
How to get it works as I am totally out of ideas after numerous uninstall and reinstalls.
I am trying to install a driver for the Epson perfection 1200U on my grandpa's new windows 8 PC. Problem is that the scanner is too old and epson doesnt provide a driver for this scanner for windows 8. But how to uncheck "show compatible hardware" in device manager when you are trying to update drivers on a specific device.
I get there by right clicking on the device, selecting properties, "browse my computer for driver software," then "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer," then after that the window that appears does not have an option to uncheck "show compatible hardware." And so I can't continue
I've installed Microsoft Windows 8.1 Version 6.3.9600 Build 9600 on my HP 430 Notebook PC with 1 GB RAM and Pentium CPU @ 2GHz 2 Cores.
Display drivers are not working properly (i.e., everything appears bigger and unclear), earlier I'd successfully updated the display drivers and made it work using Device Manager. making a backup of the drivers (may be in .inf format) from the installed drivers so that I don't have to update it every time I re-install it.
I will be using a browser, or just typing an essay, nothing computer intensive and all of a sudden the computer will black screen and power down, and you can hear the power quickly drain from the computer as everything suddenly stops. I will turn it back and it will seem as if nothing has happened. Attached is the files I got from the SevenForums diagnostic tool.
Notes: -According to Asus Live Update, Windows Update, and Intel Graphics Driver Update, I'm up to date. -According to Avast Software Updater, I'm up to date on software (though I know that that only manages some software). -Specs (just in case): Amazon.com: ASUS A55A-AH51-RD 15.6-Inch LED Laptop ( Red ): Computers & Accessories -I do run computer intensive things on this dinky laptop (battlefield 3, saints row the third, arkham city, a minecraft server + mysql server at times, etc) and it does not crash (besides low on memory warnings). -Running Windows 8.1 -Safeboot off (I was going to install linux mint, but decided to wait until the warranty runs out. Didn't feel like going back to turn safeboot back on, so I have to deal with the stupid watermark).
I have a custom built system running Windows 8. I recently changed the Sata port config, changing one of my drives to another port that was supposed to be for a case esata port. After this, my hard drives would not work together and the computer would randomly crash when I try to access My Computer or anything that makes the hard drives run. It's really hard to use as my programs/files are spread across these three drives.
My monitor won't go to sleep all of a sudden. It's set to 1 hour in the power plan. What complicates the matter is that I have now 2 users on the same pc. With the original one, the monitor always goes to sleep. With the other user it does not. Same settings, same screensaver (photo gallery).
I tried to play songs in windows media player but it showed some error. Then i switched to VLC just to find out that there is some problem with the sound. When I clicked on the volume icon to see if the volume levels are ok, I found the computer icon, which appears there to be like as if there is a bug sitting on the computer. I don't know much about it.
