I am trying to open a webpage [URL]... in my laptop (Acer) but am unable to open it after entering username and password. I am able to open it from my another laptop (Dell).
All I am getting is continuous circling of java after entering my login details. In the laptop where it is getting opened, after entering my login details, I straightaway get a pop up of security warning of do you want to run this application - but not in where it is not getting opened. After entering my login credentials, Java message just keeps circling.
I compared java in both laptops, microsoft silverlight package, adobe flash, shockplayer, internet options, firefox options but still unable to proceed further after entering my login details.OS is Windows 8.1,jave installed is latest both 32 and 64 bits.Java verify is detecting java working fine, java settings shows it is enabled in browser I already uninstalled anti-virus and tried but still no success so re-installed antivirus.

This new computer I've recently gotten comes with Windows 8; something I've never used before. I've noticed that, for some reason, the PC saves the last page (or pages) I was in, even after clicking out of them. Even going so far as resetting the computer or shutting it off completely, the last pages I were in start up upon starting up a browser. This has gotten incredibly annoying.
For example, if I were in Hotmail last before closing the browser, the next time I open the browser, it will load up the exact same Hotmail page I was on even though I have the homepage set to a different site. I do not want this to happen. Is there a way to shut this off so pages I X out of remain X-ed out of even after restarting the browser? Even if I don't close a page, if I reset or shut off the computer, I don't want to start at the same page I was on before. I want to start at my homepage. How can I fix this?
I have a fairly new HP Pavilion Ultrabook 14-b011tx with windows 8. In the last few days I have started to have a problem if I tried to right-click on a picture in IE and use "save as" I get error 8007ffff. If I try to save the whole page I get an error that says unable to save webpage with no further explanation.
I have also noticed the file open/save dialogue will not appear in some programs - they just hang.
The PC boots up and I can log in ok but I am unable to open any browsers, use the start bar or actually get in to most programs, use the search function or get in to any settings as it just hangs.
I can get to the start menu through charms and I can access My Pc from there but opening control panel hangs as well. I am also unable to get to the troubleshooting and repair.
I have tried to restart and press and hold the shift key but it just hangs again when restarting, also tried to log out of my profile but that also hangs.
I have tried to boot from a USB with a windows 8 ISO to get in to the repair from there but that doesn't seem to work - Also the windows product key shows as 'not available' ?how to actually do anything with my now expensive paperweight that has a pretty but non-functioning desktop screen ?
I can't access WinStore and PC Settings, it just takes me back to my Start Screen. I tried using Microsoft's Fix-it stuff and said I have missing files and dll.I don't want to refresh or reset my PC , but if I have no choice, I will have to do so. And also I tried to sfc /scannow and this is the result.
I've noticed a problem over last few days.. I'm not able to open applications like task manager, registry editor etc.. I get the error message stating that "The service cannot accept control messages at this time".. What to do?
After disabling IE 10 I get a warning message if opening a hyperlink. This appears in all Office 2013 applications.
" Your organization's policies are preventing us to complete this action for you."
I want to open hyperlinks with another browser. I cannot find a policy that is configured to prevent opening a hyperlink. My browser is set as default and the file associations are correct.
I tried all means of opening the UAC slider menu (from Control Panel/User Accounts/change UAC settings, using cmd.exe, etc) but it never shows up. Verified file integrity, everything is fine.
installing apps on my laptop running window 8.1. I select install the app I want. The store downloads it and "installs" it. The files are hidden in the program files however in the start menu the app icon is just a box. When i click on it, it says that there is a problem and it cannot be opened. the store would repair the install. I have tried that but no luck. No apps seems to be working that I download and i cant delete them because there is no such option in the start menu. And then manually deleting the files is also impossible because windows blocks it even when i have admin rights.
Installed Office Professional Plus 2010 on new computer with Windows 8. Can create and open all Office documents except unable to open existing Excel documents. When try to open, I am asked for the activation key. When key is entered, get message that key is not valid. Inserted install disk and re-entered activation key. Did not work.
I have three Windows PCs - 1 Windows 7 Pro laptop, a Windows 7 Home Prem PC and a Surface Pro (Win 8 Pro).
Lately (the past month or so) I have had trouble opening a couple of webpages, notably en.wikipedia.org from the Win 8 Surface Pro. Sometimes it opens OK, many times it fails to open, with the spinning wheel on the tab. It times out.
The other PCs have no problem opening wikipedia whilst this problem is evident on the Win 8 Surface Pro. This problem exhibits itself whether I use my default FF browser, or if I use IE as browser - same problem.
If I use Control Panel > Network > Properties and DISABLE IPv6, then wikipedia opens fine right away.
A reboot of the Surface Pro fixes it for a while, but it returns. A reboot of the router (Linksys E4200) also seems to improve the situation, temporarily.
I just downloaded windows 8 prof from my msdn, and I made a bootable usb stick with WintoFlash and now when I am trying to install I get this message: Windows cannot open the required file D:/Sources/install.wim. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, Error code: 0x80070570. I have looked into the usb stick but install.wim is just there. And I did a disk chek in wintoflash and it found this:
Found problems with source files.
Can't find file D:sourcesoot.wim
Can't find file D:sourcesidwbinfo.txt
Can't find file D:ootmgr
Can't find folder D:oot
Can't find file D:sourcesinstall.wim or file D:sourcesinstall.swm
Yet another lovely problem with 8.1. When I plug in my drive, it shows up in with all of my other drives, and when I double click it to open it, the explorer window freezes, and doesn't unfreeze until I unplug the flash drive. I don't know what went wrong. Maybe it is a driver issue? I am positive that the drive is fine, because it works on my laptop, and even works on this computer in a linux virtual machine.
I am unable to open any apps but the store and when I tried to uninstall and reinstall some apps I was met by an 0x80070002 error. It's not serious because I can use the apps on other users, but it would still be nice to have it fixed. I really don't feel like resetting my system.
I have a bunch of folders that are shared from external hard drives, connected to my new windows 8 machine.
Other computers/phones/tablets at home on the same network can access folders from the internal HD on my main computer.
But, with shared folders from external hard drives - despite showing up while accessing the network cannot be opened or read from connected devices or other computers on the network.
I'm a relative amateur when it comes to networking but I did not have this issue with my older windows 7 home computer.
On my old Win 7 and Win Vista and Win XP laptops I've had no problems opening and viewing my old MPEG-2 video files. My new laptop running Win 8.1 will not allow me to view them.
Windows Media Player will only recognize them as audio files - not video - though the sound will play. Real Player is the same - the application will open and begin playing a file but only as audio file. I've tried the built in Toshiba media player and it shows errors and won't open the files at all.
Again - these are conforming MPEG-2 NTSC 760X480 video file (old analog home movies) captured using an ATI video card dongle to connect to my video source and an old version of capture application ULead Video Studio. These files conform in every way to MPEG-2 standard/format and will run on all of our PC EXCEPT the new one running Win 8.
I bought and loaded a video editing application from Corel and it will open and play these files perfectly so why won't Win Media Player and Real Player recognize them when running behind Windows 8?
I was looking at all my installed programs on my computer. I noticed that Java is not on the list, so that means it's not installed yet.
So I went to Java.com to download it. However, when I clicked "Agree and Start Free Download", Google Chrome (the web browser I was using) shows a fail page. Then I tried all the other web browsers installed on my computer, i.e. Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Opera. Unfortunately, they all showed fail pages as well.
Internet Explorer says "This page can't be displayed", Safari says "Safari can't open the page" with an error code of kCFErrorDomainWinSock:10054, Firefox says "The connection was reset", Opera says "This webpage is not available", and Google Chrome says the same thing as Opera ("This webpage is not available") with a different layout of text.
When I'm on the main/first page and put my cursor on a link (cursor won't turn into hand) then when I click it just started saying Opp's then top left circle spins then goes to a page to download something I don't want or bogus.
Another big problem, certain words will be highlighted and a window pop's up (different windows) and want allow me to go to the webpage I want.
This has been happening sense I purchased my new computer wit Win.8
Example: the words on the page highlighted is where I want to go, but a small window pops up and says Best cities to work or Free Local Job Search. Its has a icon to close the windows but when I do it will go to another download type page.
Is there a setting in IE or Firefox to turn that problem OFF ? See on this page there IS NOT a word that is highlighted and what I click I go to.
IE11 seems to have a strange "Feature". When you close a Web site with an active download the whole thing closes and the download disappears -- IE 11 shows no windows open.
However press CTRL+J and you'll see the download lists again. If there's no activity press PAUSE and then press RESUME and then it should continue from where it stopped.
To some this might seem obvious but I've seen people re-start a 2hr download because they thought they had lost their currently active download when they accidentally closed the web site.
I'm trying to keep the windows 8 start screen open on one screen and have the other open to the desktop, but any time I click an app on the desktop the 2nd screen with the Windows 8 start screen minimizes. Is there any way to change this behavior?
I created a vhd file and cant put it in the recycle bin because every time I try it says Cant open file because it is open in System, I try again but it doesn't work. I've just lost 400gb of disk space!
Every time i try to open "This PC", explorer restarts itself and "This PC" window doesn't even open. In safe mode it works and after reinstall aswell, but a few minutes after a fresh installation it stops working again.
Edit: Clean installation doesn't fix it for me. Have yet not tried installing Windows 8 and do a upgrade. Also entering libraries works just fine, i can access everything that has anything to do with explorer.exe except for "This PC".
Edit #2: Upgrading from Windows 8 didn't fix it either.
I wonder if there is a way to set a default in Windows 8 so every window (including web pages) will automatically open maximized? Someone told me that a website/window will open in whatever state you exited it, but that doesn't seem to be working for me.
