Maintenance :: Used CCleaner On Registry - How To Merge / Restore Files Back
Jan 6, 2014
I used ccleaner on registry I saved before to documents, but I don't know how to merge, restore the files back where they belong.
HP pavilion g6-2225nr
win 8 x64 IE 10
ccleaner v4.07
Since this event my computer will NOT finish sfc/scannow,it starts and stops each time exactly at 22% and says Windows resource protection could NOT perform requested operation. So I did DISM.exe part 1 and it said no component store corruption. Part 2 said component store corruption repaired.

After doing a registry clean with ccleaner, whenever I go to the store and click on an app, it tells me that its broken and I have to refresh my computer. I luckily made a backup before doing it, but I still want to do a registry clean on my computer again.

I made the mistake of updating to Windows 8.1 and now I have trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi at my university. It tells me I have access to internet but at the same time it tells me the DNS sever is not available. I have tried many things but I just can't get it to work. There are also some websites that don't display correctly or work the way they are supposed to. Google being one of them. I don't know what to do so I thought I would just restore to before I updated to 8.1. So I did, but it's still 8.1. I can't go back any further than to the day I updated. Is there any way?

After two refresh and one clean install of Windows 8 within a two-week period, my computer freezes while I'm running CCleaner. It always stops at the same file:
CUserAppDataLocalTemp\_ME149482PyWinTypes26.dll
First few minutes, I can still use my computer, but after that, I cannot print, cannot open Task Manager, cannot shut down the computer. After numerous attempts, I'm able to close CCleaner, but my computer remains frozen.

So, I bought a new watercooler a corsair h100i (yay), before that I had a faulty h80i and replaced it. To make the system recognize the hardware I had to change some registries under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetEnumUSBVID_1B1C&PID_0C04 there were two folders (which I believe were one for each USB entry in my mobo hence I connected the watercooler to both of them when testing.
But after I installed the h100i which uses the same software it didn't work, so I tried to delete older USB entries so maybe windows would detect the watercooler as new again, but it dind't work, so I used USBoblivion and nothing happened, so I decied to delete those folders, well I couldn't delete them but the folders are gone, so I can't edit that. Is there A way for me to back that up?

After upgrading to Windows 8.1 (from Windows 8), I've got a few drivers/hardware/software issues. I didn't like Windows 8.1 so I tried to restore back to Windows 8 with a Win 8 system image that I've created prior to upgrade.
But I can't restore & got the following error (see image).

How create a repair rescue disk Windows 8 to restore Registry ONLY?
''Have a new HP Envy 15t-J100. Has a Recovery Partition. I created a Boot USB stick. Fine
I recall with other Windows versions & and such you could create a repair/rescue CD that basically allowed you to restore your settings to an earlier Registry Restore Point.
Will the Recovery Manager (on USB) do this as well?

I have a Asus K55a. I am getting ready to sell it and am looking to erase everything but obviously the windows 8. I tried f9 and it eventually stopped and said it's missing the correct partition, and I don't believe it came with discs.
I would like a FREE way of either putting a clean install of win8 back on or just removing all the info. Of course there are no backups on here either.

I have a shortcut to a control panel item that sits on the desktop. The target of this shortcut is a registry key that looks like {BA126ADB.......}. Is the key considered to be a "file" by Windows 8.1? Can I substitute a hard link to this registry key by using MKLINK?

I have recently undertaken to get my pictures folder all sorted out and I have got a couple of thousand pictures there. I have been trying to make individual folders within my folder in categories so that I can sort things.
The problem is that in each of these folders I have to keep clicking on "View" and then "Extra Large" over and over again. Isn't it supposed to stay like I put it without me having to re-tell it over and over? It keeps going back to the default size of the pictures.
tiring to have to keep on re-setting the picture sizes for the hundredth time.

I am running windows 8 on a dell xps pc. I have 2 large 3tb and 4tb external seagate drives. After a day or so they lose part of the connection. You can see the drive and folders a couple of levels deep but you can't see files. If you unplug and start again everything is there. On other machines it's not a problem. When you try to eject usb hardware it displays that something is accessing the device. So it's not the drive, it's a driver or something else.

I'm using a Windows 8 Pro box to serve audio and video, but is also used as a sort of HTPC box connected by SPDIF to an audio receiver. Using RDP (Remote Desktop) from another PC allows me to keep audio on the HTPC just fine, provided I tick the box in the options wherein I indicate to keep audio at the server.
However, if I log into the device using an RDP client running on a mobile client (iOS or Android), which does not have the option to keep audio on the server, I cannot restore the audio back to the server after a disconnected RDP session without a reboot of the server PC. It's fine that there's no option to keep audio on the server, but once I disconnect the RPD session from the mobile device, I expect that the audio is restored back to the server. But, for whatever reason, playback is just broken.

I use CCleaner 4.14.4707 and recently uninstalled Mozilla Firefox from my computer few days ago. I've just realized that when I open CCleaner, I still see a 'Firefox' section at the left sidebar of the app, and there's a Firefox tab (containing some entries) in the Startup list, though the Firefox itself had already been removed.
I try to clean registry using Wise, and re-install CCleaner, but those things still exist.
How can I remove them?

After running CCleaner v 3.27.1900, I am unable to Login to Facebook directly. Selecting the icon in my favorites, IE, only results in the loading icon, with no connection to the site. The same thing occurs when manually entering a search and selecting Facebook.
However, when I receive an email advising me of activity from one of my Facebook friends, I can select SEE COMMENT and go directly and quickly to the Facebook page.

After my computer started acting screwy, the OS asked if I'd like to restore my computer to a previous state. It said I would lose my apps but keep my personal files. I went along with it, thus making a huge mistake.
I had many many project files saved in my Program Files (x86) folder that I didn't think I'd lose, but now I can't find them. I discovered Windows.old but it doesn't contain any Program Files folders.
Is there any possible way to get those files back?

I just had my laptop install Windows 8.1 tonight. It's a clean install, by the way. Now the problem is I noticed that every time I restart my laptop it's power plan reverts back to "power saver", I had it set on "high performance" before. I own a Samsung laptop, model is NP535U3C-A01, Series 5.
Processor: AMD A6-4455
Memory: 8 GB
Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 7500G
It stops charging at 99%.

I was trying to locate some files in my user folders in Windows 8 I was looking for the app data files to restore my email from an old version to a new clean install of the client. I could not find the folder although I knew it existed as this is where the app is storing my email, so I figured it was hidden. I started to look for the setting I knew in 7 that would allow you to see hidden files when you ran the folder properties. The only thing I saw anywhere about hidden files was on the first page of the properties where it says read only and hidden so I checked the box and told it to apply. (I know, stupid thing to do since I did not understand what it was doing. This is so unlike me) Now I do not have any user folders and not much works. How can I restore my user files?
