DCOM error:

to the user NT AUTHORITYLOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.
The server {1B1F472E-3221-4826-97DB-2C2324D389AE} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
The server {BF6C1E47-86EC-4194-9CE5-13C15DCB2001} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
What could be causing this? Under Windows 8 it was fine. This happens every time I restart the computer and when automatic maintenance runs.

A lot of people make mention of the weather app and other apps. I've read the threads on eightforums.com about this issue and other ones elsewhere and it seems people recommend different solutions since it looks like different symptons cause this problem. Some talk about making it a local service, others part of System, and changing various ownership permissions. I don't use any metro apps and I did disable the two skydrive tasks that didn't work that cleared up a few dcom errors. It seems the registry settings that people use to fix this error can cause more harm than good so I'd like to avoid changing the registry.
I've uninstalled all my metro apps, even re-installed them, then uninstalled again but still get this error. Strangely, it occurs EXACTLY and only at 10am EST everyday. According to task scheduler, the only event running at this time is the following:
MicrosoftWindowsWindowsBackup (The Scheduled Task notifies the user that Windows backup has not been configured" Last run result: This operation requires an interactive window station (0x800705B3)
Would it be safe to disable this task and do you think this will clear up this dcom error? I don't use filehistory except to occasionally manually create a system image in case I mess something up badly. The system automatically creates system restores each day.

I was running my pc with Windows 8.0 Pro 64 bit and I now getting a screen with the Windows logo and I am now getting a message "Diagnosing PC & Auto repairing disk errors may take several hours".
It has been like that for a couple of hours.
How long I should leave it running or perhaps I should do a fresh reinstall of Windows, I have the Microsoft DVDs?

I did a clean install of 8.1 RTM yesterday and have a problem with Weather App. About 20x per second I get error id 10016 when I launch the app. It seems to be saying that my user does not have rights to launch "Immersive Shell" local server. From what I can see however this is picked up from defaults which do allow launch.
I've not changed any permissions as I don't really understand DCOM but do these setting look correct?

I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 and started getting a whole bunch of Event Log Errors. Today I downloaded and installed new drivers for Windows 8.1 that were posted on the ASRock site dated 10/25/2013. Much to my surprise the new drivers actually made most of the Event Log Errors go away - at least for now!
The first one is the Event ID 257, Defrag Error. I did a fresh install of Windows 8 and let it setup the SSD with the three partitions - Recover Partition, EFI System Partition and the Windows 8 Partition. I use Acronis 2013 to back up the SSD on a regular basis! For some reason Windows 8.1 wants to Defrag a partition on the SSD? What do I have to change to make the Event Log Error stop. What have I done to cause the problem?
The second one is the Event ID 10016, DistributedCom Error. I have Googled/Binged and have come up with what appears to be, at least for a novice, convoluted procedures to fix. Is there a real straight forward detailed instruction on how to go about changing whatever it is that needs to be changed to fix the error. Again, what did I do to the system to make this error happen?
I'm real close to a system that might be Event Log Error free (at least for a moment) if that is possible.

I've been getting errors everytime that I open a program (ANY and EVERY program). When booted into safe mode I'm not getting any errors. Here's some pictures of me opening google chrome, skype, and Windows Media Player.
It seems to be the exact same error for all of them and the only program that DOESNT seem to give me the error is paint. As soon as I click "ok", the program opens like normal but this is incredibly annoying.
This error started immediately after I installed Windows 8 from Windows 7, I might add.

I'm running Windows 8. 3 days ago my computer crashed coming up with a message that it needed to restart. It then came up with a message "Repairing disk errors. This may take over an hour", and continued to display that message for 3 days straight. Now it has gone to a Boot Menu. The menu displays two tabs Boot Menu/App Menu, with the options under Boot Menu
1. Windows Boot Manager
2. SATA HDD: Hitachi
I selected Windows boot manager, and the screen went black for a few seconds then went back to the same menu. What has happened and how do I get back to Windows??

About a week a go I had to refresh my computer and had to therefore revert back to Win 8 and re-install updates. However, I now have 81 important updates that refuse to be installed and getting the errors 800F0922 and 80071A91 as you can see from below:
I have tried some suggestions that I've found around the web, such as using the Action Center Troubleshooter, Windows Update Diagnostic, SFC and DISM with the following effect:
However, the problem still persists. I also went through and tried to install every update individually, but no luck there either.
All of these updates are also ones that require a restart, I have managed to successfully install a couple that did not need a restart.

I had been running windows 8 for a while, and within the last month I installed a new video card (Nvidia EVGA GTX560ti), and a new SSD (OCZ vertex 4 256GB). While still running Windows 8, I had been playing games, doing a lot of photoshop work....and other various CPU intensive things. I was editing photos one day in photoshop CS5 , and I noticed that the program became somewhat slow all of the sudden (basic tasks that used to be very quick and painless). The program eventually became unresponsive and had to reboot the computer. Upon restart I got all sorts of "boot drive errors", and unreadable boot disk errors.
However, these errors only seem to happen randomly. I checked my CPU core temps, and while doing the regular work I do on the computer, all 4 cores averaged about 92 degrees Celsius! I ran a virus scan, for something unrelated, and I checked the temps and they were spiking 98 to 100 Celsius!!!! While im just using the computer regularly they settle around 65-70. But if I do ANYTHING slightly intensive, I could probably cook dinner on my heatsink. I guess my main question is WHY am I getting boot errors, and why do they seem to happen randomly. I suppose the motherboard could be fried, im really not sure. This happened in the past, and reinstalled windows 8. After a couple days, same story. I'm almost positive this is a hardware thing. My first priority is of course to lower the CPU temps however I can.

Since Yesterday I've gotten the Window's 8 Blue screen saying the Error "MULTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE REQUESTS" now i got this multiple times yesterday, even got the "BAD_POOL_HEADER" Searched around and found out this was probably a Driver Error and updated my Drivers. Only my Video Card needed an update and after Installing the latest driver and restarting my Computer everything seemed fixed. But today i got the same IRP Error again.
I have an Busted up USB port and thought that maybe the Driver was confused about it and made the error so i Deactivated the specific driver to that Port, But after getting the same IRP error and restarted the comp again i got the "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" error at startup
Now my I comp started normally and I'm waiting for the next Error so I don't know what do to. I found out that there's some error Logs (C:/windows/minidump) but I don't know a program that'll make them readable.

Okay, this is for a Asus G46VW with Windows 8,
I saw that there were updates to be installed and I had to restart my computer, so I did that, and when it turned back on, I got the error message 'your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart. We are just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you'and it stayed there for less than a second and went straight to a black screen where it doesn't do anything and basically forces me to manually press the power button to shut it down. It has been doing this in a loop for 5+ times, and I don't know what to do.
This is a laptop and I do not have a Windows 8 installation disk. I have tried looking at every other thread from every place I could find and could not find one that didn't talk about using an installation disk, something I don't have!

I downloaded a custom keylogger made in Visual Basic. (To tinker with the code and see how it works, nothing malicious.) but suddenly Windows Defender gives me an alert.
I'm thinking it's just a harmless little mistake, so i deleted the files and cleaned my PC with MalwayreBytes, Spybot & Windows Defender.
MalwareBytes found 8 virus'.
Spybot found 5 virus'.
Windows Defender found 7 virus'.
I removed them all and it seemed fine now, but i was wrong.
Windows Defender keeps popping messages up saying that there is a new virus found:
1. The icon that shows when something is removed but the virus ISN'T removed.
2. It gives me an error in the "Status" bar and it doesn't have the "Removed" text in the "Anbefalet Handling" as it normally would have but rather "Quarantine".
3. Immediately when it has "cleaned" my PC, this message pops up telling me there's a virus found and i need to scan it again to remove it.
It's the same virus: HackTool:Win32/Passview
The weird thing is, i recovered my PC to an earlier stage, where i haven't downloaded it and it's still detecting. It's like nothing happened at all. I think Windows 8.1 kept my files, just not the programs i had installed.
When i click on "View all elements found", another 3 virus' are found:
They're all in "Quarantine" and not "Removed" as they should be.
This is the log that Windows Defender produces:

Since installing Windows 8 Professional 64bit I have been experiencing lots of differnt erros / warnings in event viewer. I have attached an admin log from event viewer which shows the majority of the erros. I currently have all the latest drivers and Windows updates installed. I have contacted Gigabyte for a newer BIOS and they provided me with the latest BETA Bios that they have but this still dates back to 2011.
I have also installed the latest firmware available for my Corsair 120GB SSD. How I can go about resolving these errors.

I currently have Windows 8.1 (core) on my HP laptop that originally came with Windows 8 (core). Recently I have had issues with Windows update and by searching forums I found the only thing I could do was a repair install. At first I was unable to find my product key from the packaging, but by using Belarc Advisor I was able to locate my product key. I downloaded the Windows 8 and 8.1 installations from the M$ website and when I put in my GENUINE key into windows 8 it says "This product key cannot be used to install a retail version of Windows 8".
I have even tried using a GENERIC key in both it keeps giving me "We can't connect right now."
-I my date and time are correct
-I can connect to the internet (multiple locations)
-antivirus, firewall, etc deactivated
-BITS is on and running
-cryptographic on and running
I am unable to do the windows 8.1 iso download trick and cannot find any forum that has this resolved.

BSOD...have always been something that I have gotten since I was a little kid and for the most part driver updates have always been the reason. Now that I am in the computer field though I think it's time I learn how to actually diagnose and resolve BSOD errors for others. Where can I start in learning about BSODs?
