Can't Access UEFI BIOS And BOOT Menu On Lenovo Z580
Dec 14, 2013Ok so i have 2 months lenovo ideapad z580 laptop..i am unable to access UEFI BIOS menu and boot menu anymore these were the steps i tried with my laptop.
1) I have windows 8.1 tried going to pc settings and selected uefi settings on restart But the problem still persist the laptop is just doing normal windows 8 boot
2) Tried pressing/hitting F1,F2,F12,DEL keys
3) I have also used lenovo one key recovery button there it showed "bios setup" when i selected it and hit enter it is just doing normal windows 8 boot still i can't access uefi bios
4) Tried updating BIOS for the laptop but unfortunately there was no bios update for this model
5) Tried resetting Laptop by removing battery and ac adapter and pressing and holding power button for 30 seconds but still no use i can't access BIOS yet
6) I tried removing the internal hard drive Out of the laptop and this time one starnage thing happened " before with internal hard drive i used to get lenovo splash screen when turning ON but after removing hard drive and when i try to access bios i can't see the lenovo splash screen at all" still i can't access BIOS!!!
7) I even have tried holding down Shift key, letter B when starting up the laptop but still didn't work seems like windows 8.1 makes changes to BIOS?

Oct 12, 2013I have high usage on my laptop lenovo g580 using windows 8. check task manager and I see cpu memory and disk fluctuating up and down to 3% can go up to 100 at times. When I open google chrome. Watch video or play games. I hear my fan turn on and i think my hard drive and i check task manager and i see the problem happening. I did a virus scan and searched everywhere online. I couldn't seem to find a solution. When I am not using the pc its a stable 3 percent but my memory is at 37 which i barely have anything installed but 1 game and a google chrome.

Feb 4, 2014A few days ago my laptop started logging me into a temporary profile, when I log on 2 mine it says preparing windows for a while and then I actually log in and all my setting have been changed and also my files deleted. It says "You can't access your files, and files created in this profile will be deleted when you sign out..and my files have been deleted all of them it shows on the windows 8_OS(C space meter thing. I've tried rebooting and everything but nothing. My admin user account has also been deleted. I've literally tried everything on the internet like even going to the System 32 to select SAM file but it always says the SAM file is in use. My whole life and memories are all on my laptop I have a lenovo G580.

There are various options there to choose from, but whichever one I choose, it keeps going back to boot menu. I've tried using the novo button, but it still doesn't work. Whatever I choose from the novo button screen, except "BIOS setup", keeps taking me back to the boot menu. My laptop won't start up.

Lenovo G580 Audio Keeps Coming From Internal Speakers When Headphone Plugged In
Oct 30, 2013I have a Lenovo G580 with Windows 8. I have a weird problem with audio. If the default audio is set as internal speakers and I plug in my headphones the sound just keeps coming from the internal speakers. But if I set the headphones as default, I can switch between the speakers and headphones as I want and there is no problem if only I play music from my computer.
If I try to play something from my browser, however, the sound only comes from the internal speakers and connecting the headphones does nothing. Except (and this is where it gets weird) if I play something from my computer first using the headphones. Then I can play anything from the browser and hear it through the headphones as long as I don't plug them out. If I plug them out, the sound switches back to the internal speakers and trying to plug in the headphones again doesn't do anything. So I have to play something from my computer again with the headphones plugged in and then switch to my browser to again play everything through my headphones.

Apr 8, 2014My computer is so messed up Version 8.1 . I first noticed that I had a problem with Kaspersky. It said my license was unable to verify and to update data base to solve. It wont let me update. In fact it wont even let me uninstall, and secondly I cant download ANYTHING off the internet. My main problem is OFFICE keeps freezing and I need that program it also says there is a problem with my license and I have not been able to fix it it just freezes. So I thought I will download open office, but as I mentioned I cant download anything when I click run nothing happens when I click save it says corrupt or unreadable file. I thought no problem I will just hit F2 (yes I have tried hitting every single key after this and nothing) and enter bios screen and recover from my USB but do you think F2 (or any other key takes takes me there, no. Products like Kaspersky, Office, I have paid for etc say they are unlicensed which they are not. Anything I try to download, anything, like a new virus program will not work. I can't download, I cant even get into Change my PC settings it just freezes when I click this. I have had people try and trouble shoot this, Kaspersky has not gotten back to me and everyone is telling me stuff I cant do. Nov 13, 2012My Acer Extensa 5620Z originally came with Vista, then I clean installed Win 7, now upgraded to Win 8. Since the latest upgrade, I am unable to access BIOS or the boot menu. The black and white boot screen used to say to press F12 for boot menu, and something else for Setup, those messages are no longer there. And those key combinations do not work. I've also tried some other combinations I've found in searches - F2, Alt-F10, ctrl F10, alt ctrl F10, F8, del, esc. None work.
Could the upgrade has modified the firmware somehow? Boot screen says Phoenix bios, TrustedCore v1.32 - I think that is the same it has been.
UEFI BIOS Firmware Restart Doesn't Boot To BIOS
Dec 12, 2013I just built a desktop with a sabertooth x79 motherboard, and am running Windows 8.1 pro 64-bit. When I click the UEFI BIOS Firmware live tile via the change PC settings>update and recovery>recovery>etc. my computer reboots normally to Windows and will not open BIOS. I have tried accessing it using the delete and f2 keys, but this does nothing either.
I am up to date in terms of my BIOS, and am definitely running UEFI and not legacy.

Jul 15, 2014I have bought lenovo g50-70 just 20days back, it came with inbuilt windows 8.1, they did not give any recoverable disks with it rather they said to take back up of the OS into a usb stick but I forgot to take the backup and tried to partition the hard disk using EASEUS Partition manager then I got this error "0XC0000225"
I'm unable to boot the windows.

Apr 7, 2014I recently bought Lenovo B590 laptop, installed Windows 8.1 Pro on it, downloaded/installed latest drivers from Lenovo from my laptop. I see a quite a lot blue screen errors. Most likely these started to appear after I installed and played "return to ravenhearst" game. But even I have uninstalled the game I still get the errors.

Mar 17, 2014Lenovo Y580 with a blu-ray reader/dvd burner. Running Windows 8.1. Read DVD's fine just doesn't want to burn them. I can't add data to a dvd, backup a movie, format a dvd. When trying to format a dvd I get the error, after the drive runs for awhile, "Cannot complete format".

Oct 7, 2014I just purchased a Lenovo Laptop recently (specifically lenovo Z50-70). From the second day since I switched on the laptop, I began to get an error as follows:
"Your computer ran into an error and needs to restart. We are collecting some info, and then we'll restart for you"
I have done only 2 major changes to the laptop. Firstly, I updated windows 8.1. Secondly, I moved some space from local disk C to D. Why is this error caused.
1. Is the error caused due to windows 8 (or) some driver files?
2. Is it because of some deleted windows files? (Although I have not deleted anything!!)
3. Can a simple re-installation of windows 8.1 solve this issue?
4. Is it because of some hardware issue?
Setup Installation :: Can't Upgrade From Windows 8.1 To Pro On Lenovo U310
Mar 21, 2014I have a Lenovo U310 Touch that came from the store with Windows 8.1 on it. I need to install Hyper-V and that requires 8.1 Pro.
I have a product key from my MSDN subscription for 8.1 Pro and attempted to use the "Add Features" program from the system screen to upgrade. It takes the code, validates it as ok, goes through some downloading and other stuff then reboots the system. When it comes back up after the reboot it states "Couldn't add features" along with a contact Microsoft Support link.
I looked around and can't find a log file or any error codes.
I've done this on 2 desktop machines to enable Hyper-V with no issues but for some reason this doesn't work on this "Ultrabook".
I've tried this on a hard network connection and on a wireless connection to see if anything changed. Still broke both ways.
The machine does have 2 drives in it, one 20GB SSD for recovery and recovery drivers and the primary drive. I've read where there may be files mapped on that drive that are causing problems, but have no clue how to actually find these and move them.
Audio :: Lenovo X230 / Windows 8 And 8.1 - Sound Cutting Out?
Nov 17, 2013at some point when playing audio, sound will cut out. The levels will still be moving on the mixer, but no sound will come through the speakers or sound jack. It seems that soon after I've closed all sound-producing applications, sound returns. I am 50-75% sure that this is strictly a sound jack issue, as I don't remember being able to reproduce the issue without the sound jack being active when the audio drops out. Frequently, bumping my headphones' cord seems to cause the problem, but other times, the problem seems to happen on a click, a loud sound, or seemingly nothing at all.
Origin: Appeared mid-October, around the same time I had upgraded to the newest drivers (where the old ones were from earlier than May 2013). All were downloaded through the Lenovo website and/or Lenovo's System Update utility, with the exception of the Intel graphics drivers, which were downloaded through the Intel website. At this point, I was running Windows 8, not Windows 8.1. I installed Windows 8.1 recently, and the problem remains.
What I've tried: disabling drivers, reinstalling drivers, disabling sound effects, disabling audio application overrides...
What I haven't tried: rolling back drivers (being honest, I have a bit of trouble believing that this is strictly a driver issue at this point.)
It's probably worth mentioning the possibility of liquid damage, as a beverage was spilled onto the lower right side of the laptop, near to the headphone jack about a week or two before I first noticed the problem. However, the fact that this problem can most (all?) of the time be fixed by closing all applications and fiddling with the mixer within seconds leads me to doubt that this is a hardware issue...

Nov 5, 2013After updating to Windows 8.1, my PC is unable to restart with the following message displayed:
1) Preparing automatic repair
2) Diagnosing your PC
3) Your PC did not start correctly
Here I am given 2 options:
a) Restart
b) Advanced Options.
Option (a) will keep me in the same loop. I have tried most of the options in (b) but nothing works out. The only extra clue I got is when I go to Startup Settings and select option 9)" Disable automatic restart after failure" from which an additional message was displayed:
error: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
I did not make any backup beforehand and now I'm hoping to restore to my previous setting without losing any files/data. Or it would be even better I could solve the problem without any restoration.
I cannot access to the Windows start-up anymore, not even in Safe Mode.
Lenovo Desktop Goes To Windows Initial Setup Screen For No Reason
Jul 15, 2014My friend put his Lenovo desktop to sleep, and when he woke it up, it was at one of the initial setup screens that you see when you first turn on a new computer, or first install Windows 8 - the screen that asks you to accept the Express Settings or to customize the setup.
We could not get out of it, and restarting the computer brought it right back there. So I accepted the Express Settings, then it asked me to enter the Microsoft account info, or to create one. He had a local account only, so I kept denying that screen and finally somehow I ended up at a screen that said something like "use my existing account" although it showed no indication that there was any account.
It then said it was installing my Apps (there are no Metro Apps in use on this computer, other than what comes with Win 8). This took about 3 or 4 minutes, then it did some more setup, and when it was done it was (surprisingly) back at his desktop screen, with all his files and desktop icons just like they were before.

Jun 9, 2014I bought a lenovo y410p with windows 8 preinstalled. I upgraded it to windows 8.1 using a generic key. Now if I look into my windows 8 key it will show me the generic key I used (using Belarc Advisor).
If I activate it online, the Error code: 0x8007007B comes out...
Lenovo Ideatab - Windows 8 Auto Shutting Down The Moment It Starts
Jan 15, 2013Just got the Lenovo ideatab lynx in the mail today. Used it for like 2 hours.
Only things I did: install chrome, uninstalled nortan (borderline spyware antivirus in my opinion).
It restarted without telling my anything to configure updates (said do not shut off, preparing to configure blah blah blah) Then I plugged in my galaxy s3 to use usb, its started installing the drivers then shut down again.
Now it is constantly shutting down as soon as it gets up. No peripherals are plugged in, it is connected to power.
I don't have a keyboard to run usb for safe mode. And I'm pretty good with computers.
Windows Explorer Freezes Requiring Relaunch - Lenovo X230
Jun 9, 2014X230 Laptop, 8GB RAM, Intel Graphics 4000 series, SS180GB SSD. Problem occurs with laptop in the Ultra Base Series 3 dock or out of it. - VGA or DisplayPort. Laptop came with Windows 7, was upgraded to Windows 8 and then Windows 8.1 and then the 8.1 update. Problem started when Windows 8.1 was initially installed.
When connected to an external Monitor (HP ZR2240W or a Dell 2412Mb) with either display port or VGA (VGA on Dell only), Windows Explorer will stop working, open programs will show not responding. Mouse still functional, and if cursor is placed in the "taskbar" area, you will get a blue spinning circle. A double click of the mouse in that area will generally cause a relaunch of Windows Explorer (screen area goes blue, then repopulates with the icons) and things will work fine for a number of program launchs or switching between programs, then the problem will occur again. This will happen up to 20+ times per day.
Laptop has the latest BIOS installed from Lenovo, Intel Graphics Driver 10.18.10.3621. Have tried three different keyboard and mouse options (Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse, Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse, and a hard wired keyboard and mouse) and problem follows each. Friday I reloaded Windows 8.1 with the most recent updates and problem continues.
Additional information - 65Watt Lenovo Power Supply. Laptop when not connected to external monitor (using just laptop screen) does not exhibit same problem
I feel that it might be a graphics adapter (Intel 4000) problem. Only solution there is a motherboard replacement.

I use internet by my router WiFi connected to my PC it just keep disconnecting from the WiFi after i always reboot my PC then i can connect again but today i tried to restarting my computer and try to reconnect but i cannot find the WiFi network, i don't know why.
Now i am using WiFi USB, but its very slow and i also tried to disconnect it and if the WiFi network will stay or not, unfortunately directly after disconnect the USB, the WiFi disappear.
My PC is Lenovo Windows 8 ...

May 29, 2014I'm about a year into windows 8, which came pre installed on a Lenovo C440, 64 bit, 1 terrabite HD partitioned into C,467 GB,E,storage 437 GB. I updated to 8.1 a few weeks ago and aside from the 'feeling' that everything is running a bit slow all else seems fine except: ever since I got 8 I've been losing space on C drive,about a GB or 2 a week somewhere I got hint to go to System, delete all restore points and then create a new restore point.
I'd do this whenever I'd be down 4/5 gigs and get all the lost space back. Since I went to 8.1 I'm losing a gig or more a day, and it doesn't come back after the delete restore process. I use CC cleaner daily and remove everything but cookies ( way too much trouble to have to log in again at every site I go to).
I don't hibernate, just sleep
I auto defrag once a week
I have Trend Micro do a full scan nightly
I still have plenty of space but I've lost about 9 GB in 3 weeks of 8.1

Mar 8, 2013I'm having trouble keeping my lenovo laptop (running windows 8) connected to the internet. I have been able to connect successfully to multiple wireless networks and access the internet until I tried to connect to the new network.
Initially everything is OK - I can connect to the network and access the internet. However after a short period of time (anywhere from a few seconds to 20 minutes) the network connection will change to limited, without internet access. If I simply disconnect and reconnect to the network the internet will immediately be working again (at least for a few seconds/minutes).
Alternatively, if I run the troubleshooter, I always get the message that the default gateway is not available, which has been fixed by resetting the wi-fi adapter.
