How To Run Hidden CMD Script
Feb 26, 2013
I am running a script that organises my downloaded files, but opens a cmd prompt every time. Is it possible to hide this in Windows 8? I know it was possible in windows 7 but doesn't seem to work on 8 ...

I am the ONWER of my PC and should aloud to edit whatever files I want, but windows knows best so fine... ok... I enabled access to the hidden admin account. Because our user accounts that say admin is a way for windows to make us think we are system admins when we arnt. Every guide in the world says once the hidden admin account is enabled it will have no login password... mine does... what do I do? This PC is fresh out of the box no password was set. I need access to the hidden admin account unless this hidden admin is someone who payed for this PC and didnt tell me? Then Id assume I have the right to use my admin account on the PC.

When I upgraded to Win8.1, it asked if I wanted to automatically connect to my hidden network. I've never set up a hidden network. Sometimes it shows up in my list of WiFi connections. My computer also shows me as belonging to a workgroup, which I never joined. Then one day another network showed up called TOA24 and it was set up to automatically connect. Now it shows up every time I connect to my WiFi connection. Is it possible to determine how my computer joined a workgroup without my knowledge or created a hidden network? I have Norton Security Suite (through Comcast) running on this computer.

as you know in Windows 8 if we want to show hidden file , we should go to view then option the change folder and search option then mark the show hidden filed.
is there another easy way to do this?for example add a option in right click menu?(in win 7 shawn posted a registry key that add show hidden file to right click menu but it does not work in win 8)

I remember that Win XP has the Default Hidden Admin Account that is created when you install the OS and also by default it's not password secured which can be a security issue. By doing a quick search, apparently Win 8 also have this Default Hidden Admin Account.
When in Windows 8 I verify the available created users I see an Admin account. Is this account the 'hidden' one, but made visible?
I also did the prompt cmd: net user administrator /active:yes, but I get a msg saying that there is 'no' user under the name 'administrator' ... maybe the admin user I'm seeing is a microsoft account, not a local account?

When I turned my laptop on for the first time, it installed Windows 8 automatically, which made me think there is a hidden volume somewhere on the hard drive. I listed all the volumes using DiskPart utility and it showed me some hidden ones, as expected. What I want to do now is to explore the hidden volumes' contents, and retrieve the drivers from there if possible. But the problem is, I don't know how to list the contents of those volumes. I could've used DIR command if they were accessible through the letters, but unfortunately they don't have any letters associated with them. how I can list the contents of the hidden volumes.

I have the folder "Download master" and "Eltima Software" can be seen via program "flash decompiler" where as under windows explorer it doesn't show it. on rightside you can see I disable all hidden system files, enable show hidden files, I have also tried to type in directory path on the top of window explorer and nothing works, although I'd assume cmd will work and will show under dir but thats not what I want.I have also searched net can't find any information about this Download Master folder and its around 2 MB.

I just found out through my AV that there is a hidden folder category I can't seem to find normally.
And I wonder why and how I can tell windows to let me see it, the folder path is as follows:
C:UsersAll Users
Only way for me to see it is to actually type in the above in the adressfield in file explorer.
As in why and the reason it is so super hidden.

I just ran into a problem during my upgarding my laptops to win 8 pro from win 7 and also win 8
1) I have discovered that my laptop which came with win 8 which i upgraded to win 8 pro with a dvd, has had the contents of the hidden partition deleted in the upgrade process [as told to me by acer][that is i can no longer go back to factory default settings ever!].The hidden partition is going to be returned to original condition. So i would like to copy the image of that hidden partition somewhere, where i can copy it back onto the hdd hidden partition should this ever happen again for whatever reason. But not onto a dvd, either a externall hdd or usb stick if its possible.
2) I have another acer laptop which i have also upgraded, but from win 7 to win 8 pro. And it seems that the hidden partition and the factory default settings in that laptop have been untouched!! as i have just restored it back to factory condition.
But i would also like to copy the hidden partition for this one. And i also have other laptops with hidden partitions with vista and xp.
So win 8 will delete the factory settings in a hidden partition when it is an upgrade from win 8 to win 8 pro but not from win 7 ???
What are the ways to copy the hidden partition for ones i know how to remove the hdd and ones that i do not?? In a way that is easy to copy back to the hdd concerned.

I just noticed something while inspecting IE11 with a tool called "spy++" (don't be alarmed by the name, it's a standard tool provided by Microsoft) and any hint on what this new (?) feature of IE is. To replicate my finding just launch a new Internet Explorer instance and navigate to the following two urls one right after the other:
[URL]
If you do this and then inspect Internet Explorer with the spy++ tool you will notice that the first web page is still there, just stashed away (you may want to have a look at the attached screenshot to see what I mean). I haven't seen this happening with previous versions of IE.
- How is this feature called?
- Is there an option in the settings of IE to enable/disable this feature?

At the bottom of my desktop/screen, I can see a thin line of the top of the taskbar. I have the taskbar on auto-hide, but tried it locked, unlocked, hidden, etc.
I tried different resolutions, restarts, images, and moving it. (It does it on all sides of the screen.)
I tried detect and identify in the resolution feature.
I did have this problem before and can't remember what I did to solve it. It turned out to be simple, but I just can't get it this time.
(The thin blue line at the bottom of the image, not the big white vertical bar.)

I had a picture password, but it hid itself, since I got it wrong to many times. I do not have a pin password, regular password, password reset disc, and I cannot enter the bios. So my question is, how do I get to my picture password, without a the choice to enter my computer, since I forgot my password. Let me give the details. I go to my picture password, and get it wrong to many times, so it then closes the window and goes to the regular password screen, but there are no sign in options. But In the password settings it says the picture password is still there, so is the picture password hidden, deleted, or do you have to be in the password settings to get it back? I have forgotten my regular password, and do not have a pin password.

I have hidden all of the foreign language fonts that are Windows 8.1 system fonts. However, the hidden fonts continue to display in Office 2010, Adobe Creative Cloud and Corel Draw X6, as well as other programs and applications.
How do I prevent the fonts from displaying or better -- which ones can be deleted? Surely Windows will function in the U.S. without a Himalayan font loaded.
I've tried using a third party font manager, both NexusFont and Bitstream Font Navigator, but with no improved results.

I have a very peculiar issue; after using various disk imaging tools such as Macrium and Paragon, my boot partitions seem to be strangely corrupted. The effects of this corruption are:
1) Plain-text boot menu instead of the new graphical boot menu,
2) Long delays before the boot menu is shown,
3) Even longer delays when doing native VHD boot, after choosing the boot entry from the menu.
I have done a lot of testing and experimentation, and on a virgin fresh installed system from the Windows 8.1 setup ISO, these symptoms do not appear. Only after I have imaged the system using the imaging tools above, do these symptoms start appearing. Unfortunately, just copying my main Windows C: partition using the same imaging tools re-creates the same issue. So I cannot rely on these partitioning tools.
I need a way - a set of commands - to re-create the boot partitions, re-initialize their BCD stores, etc. so that I can normally boot from my C: partition, as well as native VHD boot.
Needless to say, I want to avoid having to completely reinstall Windows on my C: partition, as that would be extremely time and effort prohibitive, if I only knew how to re-create and/or re-initialize just the boot partitions in question.

I am running a regular laptop that is not a portable workstation of any sort and yet I am unable to utilize Windows 8's hidden Backup & Restore function. I have already made the appropriate backups with Macrium but my issue is the error message itself and how it may be effecting other aspects of my Windows experience. How to tell the OS that I am not a "portable workstation"?

This evening I went to use by portable USB drive and noticed it wouldn't work. I tried another port and it still didn't work. I then tried another device on the same ports and it also did not work.
I opened up device manager and saw that my VIA USB xHCI controller was no longer listed under USB controllers. I turned on Show Hidden Devices and it then appeared as a hidden device. I attempted to re-install the drivers for it but the installer wouldn't run because it said it didn't detect the hardware on the system.
I last used the ports 2 nights ago and didn't have any problem then. I thought the problem may have been caused by the Windows updates I installed today so I uninstalled them all, but the USB controller still doesn't work.
System Info:
Gigabyte GA990FXA-UD3 motherboard
AMD FX-8350 CPU
16GB RAM
GeForce GTX 770 GPUs
Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit OS

Win 8 Pro. After a couple of days uptime my tray icons in the hidden pop up are turning into white squares, which makes them hard to identify. I tried rebuilding the icon cache as found here, Icon Cache - Rebuild - Windows 7 Forums which seemed to solve the problem. But a few days later an icon has turned back into a white box, a bandwidth meter.

In a Dell notebook, o/s Windows 8.1, from an icon in the Desktop or in the Quick Access area IE opens behind the Desktop. The tabs for MSN and another user specific opening page can be seen above the Desktop window. I could not find a way to alter this strange behaviour or find its cause.
The laptop is new and has displayed this problem previously and returned to normal behaviour without input from the owner/user. The problem recurred after a restart following the installation of TeamViewer and Malwarebytes AntiMalware.
