know if there's a way to reverse the "polarity" of the FN key on Toshiba Satellite C55D-A? All I can find is sticky key or notification settings. I'm looking to have F1 - F12 work like on desktop keyboards and hold down the FN key to adjust brightness, volume etc..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba satellite C855D, which comes with windows 8, and I want to know if it is possible to downgrade to windows 7 64 bit. I have been told there can be a lot of problems with the computer if done incorrectly.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am working on a Toshiba Satellite C855D (Windows 8 originally) that would not boot. I tried the repair, restore, and recovery but that did not work. So I used a recovery disc from a Toshiba C55D (Windows 8.1) and got it working. The problem I have is the c855d now shows as the c55d. My question is does the product key come from the motherboard or the software.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 8.1 Toshiba Satellite L875D-S7332, with a AMD A6-4400M APU processor with integrated graphics. My display adapter, according to device manager, is a AMD Radeon HD 7520G.
Now, my problem is that I'm unable to adjust the screen brightness of my laptop. I haven't made any recent changes, and I noticed this about a week or so ago(I don't typically change my laptop brightness, so this could have been happening for longer). In the mean time, I've tried rolling back my display drivers, with no success, and also updating to the latest driver set, which has also not worked?
New Toshiba Satellite P70-A085 with Win 8.1 preloaded( an education in its self). Ex XP pro.
Screen will not open to full size, I have to adjust each time. I know there was a trick to do this on old programmes,
I have a Toshiba Satellite notebook less than six months old and running with Windows 8 and latest updates to date. My Toshiba Satellite will not auto. standy/hibernate, it will only do it by me executing it manually.
-All device drivers are up-to-date, according to Toshiba download site, including graphics driver.
-All USB devices have been un-plugged.
-I have done a re-boot of the notebook, several times, and it made no difference.
-I have turned on and off the screen saver settings.
-I have changed and changed back the power scheme settings.
-I ran the powercfg -requests tool, and it reported no problem.
I noticed when I ran the Toshiba hardware troubleshooter, it said to turn off the screen saver, but it was already turned off. I noticed in searching the net that other Toshiba users say they have noticed this too.
I also noticed that when I choose my photos as a screen-saver they take a long time to run, or sometimes not at all.
I have just bought a Toshiba Satellite laptop. Before installing everything I wanted to partition the hard drive, for various reasons. To do so, I installed EASUS Pro. (Have used that many, many times on my W7 PC without a problem.) Anyway, it went away to resize the boot partition and now I can't do a !@#%$ing thing. The laptop boots to a 0xc0000225 error screen, and that's it. I entered the UEFI Firmware Settings, and managed to firstly change the fn keys to standard (YAY!) but I CANNOT use the F10 key to save the boot priority to CD/DVD or anything else, so I have nowhere to go from there.

These are the errors that I have gotten so far since I decided to write them down. There probably are others that I did not write down or missed due to laptop restarting. Errors listed below.
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGE_AREA (HTTP.SYS)
I upgraded Toshiba Satellite A100-998 with XP Media Centre to Windows 8 Pro. Before upgrade the screen resolution was 1280x800 on a NVIDIA GeForce Go7300 graphics adapter.
Windows 8 pro upgrade has installed only the Standard Microsoft Graphics Adapter of 1028x600. I have searched registry for Display1_DownScalingSupported key but it does not exist.
I have attempted to find another driver on the NVIDIA and Toshiba web support but I am unsure what would be the right one. The laptop clearly can support the higher resolution, how to resolve the issue.
I have Toshiba laptop that I migrated to Windows 8 and had no issues, once I moved 8.1 randomly the computer freezes for some minutes where I can only move the mouse and nothing happnes, even the Ctrl Alt Del does not work, but after a while the computer comes back to life and everything that I imputed, clics and keystrokes, start to go on.
Is annoying since I cant see a movie now without getting freeze while watching it
I already clean install Windows 8.1 RTM with lastes patches and drivers but the same issue since I thought is was a WIN issue for the upgrade.

I have a Toshiba Satellite hybrid, with Windows 8, 4GB RAM and 128 SSD hard drive. I have full Microsoft office and very few other programs, there are the Toshiba installed software which I don't use and the windows 8 based 'apps' which I also hardly use.
My 128GB was about 70% full from week one, but now it is almost 100% full, I regularly carry out disk clean up, but I unable to get more than 1GB free on my hard drive, can this be right? How can I resolve this?
I like to discuss a problem of mine with my Laptop which is pre loaded with Windows 8 pro 64 bit OS.Unfortunately I forgot the password of my login id as i have created while i first started the Laptop. Customer installed Win 8. He knows how to hide/ unhide folders and files. For some reason, that he wont go into, thats not good enough. To easy to toggle back and forth he says . He wants to hide a folder--i have read the win7 forums,i dont see it as being possible at the level he wants it. He says he wants it totally hidden, but still, by making some changes, be able to unhide it when he needs to and then re-hide it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was moving my default user folder locations, where I have managed to move 'My Pictures' and 'My Documents' successfully. however when I was moving Documents folder I made a mistake of selecting the whole 'e:' drive as the target location instead of 'e:download'. As I don't want the E: to be the target location I have reverted it back.
Now for some reasons I am not able to delete Downloads folder that I created manually in E: drive. That folder is hidden, it doesn't show even when I select the option to show hidden files and folders. However the files in that Download folder are showing up when I search them.
To open the 'Documents' properties I selected one of the file from the search list, right clicked and selected open file location. so finally when I saw the properties of the folder it says hidden, and it is not allowing me to uncheck it. I tried changing permissions of the folder but still no luck. I even used command prompt to delete that folder, but it says access denied.
All I now need is I want to delete the folder 'Download' in my E: drive. I am the admin of my windows 8 pc.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo my notebook refuses to boot, so I decided this:
I'll move all the files I want from my notebook to my pc and then do a clean reinstall of windows.
This is my process and I'm going to do and I want to know if I missed anything:
1) write down cdkey ( is there a text file somewhere? last I checked the registry and command prompt it shows us empty)
1.5) change the boot settings
2) boot from cd with the linux live cd knoppix
3) buy a bridged usb cable
4) install driver for cable on both computers (stuffed can be installed even though I boot from a cd right?)
5) copy files over
5) download windows 8
6) burn to cd
7) do a clean install using the custom option.
8) install bridged usb cable software on new windows
9) transfer back data.
i brought an HP Pavilion G6 and it comes with an GUID partition table (GPT), EFI and Secure Boot. However i need an MBR partition table, so i tried disk managerment but the option "convert to mbr" is greyed out and when i run the "diskpart - list disk - select disk 0 - convert mbr" i get an error "cannot convert a partition which has a pagefile on it" (disabling the pagefile didn t worked).
I guess my only other option is to format it, but the notepad comes with an lincesed Windows 8 which i dont wont to loose. So what are my options? I dont ave the CDs, as it s HP packet.
Update:I ve successfully formatted my Notebook. All i had to do is enter legacy mode, disable secure boot and boot from the Windows 7 DVD. So if you ave no intention using Win 8 it won t be a problem to "downgrade" in an UEFI/EFI System.
I have an HP Envy notebook. bought it 3 months ago. made recovery disk (actually it's on a flash drive). Had troubles with the notebook. HP support walked me through factory reset. Twice.
Never used the flash drive. used whatever was on the computer. Whether or not to keep the recovery stuff I put on the flash drive? Just wondering if its a waste of a perfectly good flash drive, seeing as I never used it when I reset.
I have hp notebook with windows 8 OS. When I plugged in the charger the display totally disappears and the screen has black for only 1, 2 seconds. And the same situation is when i removed the charger. But this is not happened when i was using windows 7. Is this a problem or a feature of windows 8.

the Notebook was performing perfectly fine before today.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a software on my notebook called Lenovo Energy Management, and there's 2 battery mode available, the one is "Maximum Battery Life" and the other is "Optimized Battery Health" so I choose "Optimized Battery Health" mode, and leaving my notebook while it is charging for about 5 hours.
When I am go back home, I saw that my battery is stay on 60% and it say "Plugged in, not charging". It won't charge the battery higher than 60%, so I guess the battery is limited to 60% from it's full capacity. The question is, is it safe for the battery if I leave the notebook while it is charging for more than 5 hours even the battery capacity is limited?
