New Toshiba Satellite P70-A085 with Win 8.1 preloaded( an education in its self). Ex XP pro.
Screen will not open to full size, I have to adjust each time. I know there was a trick to do this on old programmes,
I have a Toshiba Satellite hybrid, with Windows 8, 4GB RAM and 128 SSD hard drive. I have full Microsoft office and very few other programs, there are the Toshiba installed software which I don't use and the windows 8 based 'apps' which I also hardly use.
My 128GB was about 70% full from week one, but now it is almost 100% full, I regularly carry out disk clean up, but I unable to get more than 1GB free on my hard drive, can this be right? How can I resolve this?
I have a Windows 8.1 Toshiba Satellite L875D-S7332, with a AMD A6-4400M APU processor with integrated graphics. My display adapter, according to device manager, is a AMD Radeon HD 7520G.
Now, my problem is that I'm unable to adjust the screen brightness of my laptop. I haven't made any recent changes, and I noticed this about a week or so ago(I don't typically change my laptop brightness, so this could have been happening for longer). In the mean time, I've tried rolling back my display drivers, with no success, and also updating to the latest driver set, which has also not worked?
Using Windows 8 Pro: Why when I click on any of my folder shortcuts on the desktop, my windows, such as My Documents, open in a little (approx) 4" x 4" window instead of a full window. How to get them to open in full windows.

So I used a recovery disc from a Toshiba C55D (Windows 8.1) and got it working. The problem I have is the c855d now shows as the c55d. My question is does the product key come from the motherboard or the software.

I have a Toshiba Satellite notebook less than six months old and running with Windows 8 and latest updates to date. My Toshiba Satellite will not auto. standy/hibernate, it will only do it by me executing it manually.
-All device drivers are up-to-date, according to Toshiba download site, including graphics driver.
-All USB devices have been un-plugged.
-I have done a re-boot of the notebook, several times, and it made no difference.
-I have turned on and off the screen saver settings.
-I have changed and changed back the power scheme settings.
-I ran the powercfg -requests tool, and it reported no problem.
I noticed when I ran the Toshiba hardware troubleshooter, it said to turn off the screen saver, but it was already turned off. I noticed in searching the net that other Toshiba users say they have noticed this too.
I also noticed that when I choose my photos as a screen-saver they take a long time to run, or sometimes not at all.
I have just bought a Toshiba Satellite laptop. Before installing everything I wanted to partition the hard drive, for various reasons. To do so, I installed EASUS Pro. (Have used that many, many times on my W7 PC without a problem.) Anyway, it went away to resize the boot partition and now I can't do a !@#%$ing thing. The laptop boots to a 0xc0000225 error screen, and that's it. I entered the UEFI Firmware Settings, and managed to firstly change the fn keys to standard (YAY!) but I CANNOT use the F10 key to save the boot priority to CD/DVD or anything else, so I have nowhere to go from there.

I upgraded Toshiba Satellite A100-998 with XP Media Centre to Windows 8 Pro. Before upgrade the screen resolution was 1280x800 on a NVIDIA GeForce Go7300 graphics adapter.
Windows 8 pro upgrade has installed only the Standard Microsoft Graphics Adapter of 1028x600. I have searched registry for Display1_DownScalingSupported key but it does not exist.
I have attempted to find another driver on the NVIDIA and Toshiba web support but I am unsure what would be the right one. The laptop clearly can support the higher resolution, how to resolve the issue.
I have Toshiba laptop that I migrated to Windows 8 and had no issues, once I moved 8.1 randomly the computer freezes for some minutes where I can only move the mouse and nothing happnes, even the Ctrl Alt Del does not work, but after a while the computer comes back to life and everything that I imputed, clics and keystrokes, start to go on.
Is annoying since I cant see a movie now without getting freeze while watching it
I already clean install Windows 8.1 RTM with lastes patches and drivers but the same issue since I thought is was a WIN issue for the upgrade.

I like to discuss a problem of mine with my Laptop which is pre loaded with Windows 8 pro 64 bit OS.Unfortunately I forgot the password of my login id as i have created while i first started the Laptop. View 6 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is a Windows issue or just an issue with my software but I was using Corel Paint shop pro x6 and I'm not sure what I did but after opening files or using the save to option several times, all of a sudden the window started opening full screen and there doesn't seem to be any way to minimize it.
I tried to see if I could at least drag it some place but it won't move. I tried going to every side and corner to see if I could resize it that way but nothing happens. This is the only program that opens my folders in full screen so perhaps it has nothing to do with Windows but how I can get my folders to open in a small screen where you can move them over or out of the way of something you might be looking at.
I have had this problem with all 3 versions of Explorer. If I open a website, as an example RUN: bing.com the pages open full screen. If I use the shortcut on the desktop it opens short about 2 inches on the bottom and another weird thing is that I have a PC right next to this one, the page will open short about 2 inches on the right side of the screen. I have had to resort to Firefox and I have no problems at all.
I am running Win 8.1 on one machine and Win 8 on the other. I had the same problems with XP and Win 7.
My sister has a Satellite C55-A5281 with home premium 8.1 x64. She recently did a system restore now the screen just goes black after this BIOS screen.

I've been playing around with Windows 8.1 Preview, and am getting used to snapping the start screen to the left side, like you can with metro apps, using Win+Arrow.
Because Windows 8 treats the Desktop like an app, it can be displayed on the right half of the screen, while the start menu is snapped to the left half of the screen.
So I'm just wondering whether there's a way to force the start screen to always open at half the fullscreen size? In other words, always snapped to the size.
This would be a great way to meet the fullscreen-start-menu-haters half-way.

View 3 Replies View RelatedPC crashed, I get Toshiba splash screen at start up then nothing. With recovery stick I can get tools but cannot use them... I get either missing partition or hard drive locked message. I can get to command prompt though where it appears that the partition containing Windows is not being recognized at all...the size of the partition is not even showing up. This all started when I returned to my PC to find it unresponsive and had to power it off with the power button. PC was working fine for months after upgrading from Windows 7.

I can go through my computer and set the screen size to 100 % but if I am tapping while on the net it changes dramatically and I don't know how to control the overall size. I've had a kitten stepping all over my keyboard and this may or may not have to do with it. I've looked for a menu option to change it but can't find anything. I've tried just zooming out but it doesn't affect it. How can I make the start screen how it originally was?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI sometimes experience crashes when playing some games, which is perfectly normal and I can understand that no program can ever be 100% crash proof, but I have noticed some really annoying behaviour during and after a crash.
With many games, when they crash from a full screen window they often cause the window switching behaviour to stop working, starting task manager to close the program is nearly always impossible because I cant switch to it. Any error dialogues, with important information, cant be viewed because all I can see is a blank black/white window, which cant be closed or interacted with in any way.
Often I find myself struggling to close a crashed app, and resort to logging off or even restarting sometimes.
Things I try that rarely work:
-Trying to even switch window.
-Trying to use task manager.
-Right clicking on the taskbar icon to close (doesn't close the app when pressed)
How it is caused and is there anyway to get rid of it?
Whenever I load up Starcraft 2 or TombRaider for example, games that go full screen on my PC, I lose my internet connection. When it comes to Starcraft 2, You need an internet connection to play. I don't know what to do and I've been trying to google up a solution without much success. I have Windows 8 Home Basic and a Netis WF-2117 Wireless PCI adapter.
