Can't Open Photos Of Any Kind With Windows Photo Viewer
Jul 23, 2013This issue it happens for too long I can't open photos of any kind with the windows photo viewer, I don't know how it happened and I don't remember when. When I try to open nothing happens.. its like something happens for a fraction of a second and nothing. I tried almost everything, well, accept for restore but there is no chance I am doing it the cost is too big.
I just noticed that when i try to view a photo file, two processes pop for a fraction of a sec and immediately disappear, one is COM Surrogate and the other Windows Problem Reporting.
Shortcuts Have Windows Photo Viewer Icon?
Sep 6, 2013In the Metro screen, some shortcuts have an icon that looks like the Windows Photo Viewer icon. Some of these programs are: Macrium Reflect, Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center, TightVNC Viewer and Adobe Reader XI. See the screenshot below. How can I restore the icons, and prevent it from happening again?

Nov 14, 2013Before upgrading to 8.1 I had a cool Photo Viewer. It was the default viewer so I do not have an app name.
When I selected Photos from the main Start screen, there would be 10 to 15 photos on the screen at the same time and different sizes (large thumb nail). Plus the photos changed individually in a random way. Selected photos randomly from different folders. Very cool.
After upgrading to 8.1 all I get are full screen individual photos in a slide show format.
Is there an app that I should download or am I missing something?
How To Print Images / Pictures Using Windows Photo Viewer
Sep 15, 2014I'm trying to print images/pictures using windows photo viewer and I get this error "Your pictures can't be printed because this error occurred".... It doesn't tell me which error.. simply just says that in the dialog box. THe dialog box comes out like 4 times with the same message and I have to click OK.
I've already tried googling it and the only fix I can find is replacing photowiz and I already did but it has fixed. I've also installed Photo Gallery and it stil lgives me the same error when I try to print and picture. I've also reinstalled all my printer drivers...

Oct 24, 2013First I thought it was slow. Then I got tired of waiting and figured out how to associate all my photos with the windows photo viewer from the desktop apps like I was used to with Windows 7
However, I would like to give it a fair chance to work. So, I am posting here.
When I click on the photo app, it shows some folders, sometimes it kicks me back to the desktop before I can click anytime. Other times, it may show a photo for a few seconds before kicking me back. Either way, this is not acceptable.
The app is not closing. It is still running because if I click the left corner, I see it and can access it again, if over for a second.
Is this experience common. I have had my windows 8 pc a week and I switched over to windows 8.1 about two days after I initially got it setup. I am a very experienced Windows 7 user. I am trying to be open minded about this new operating system.
Graphic Cards :: Windows Photo Viewer Makes Pictures Yellow On 2nd Monitor
Jan 19, 2014I don't really know whether this is related to the graphics cards or drivers or monitor or some driver/software issue but here it is: Windows Photo Viewer (my favorite image viewer) makes photos yellow, and also the empty space behind the photo. It only happens in this program, Photos app displays it just fine, so does photoshop. It's definitely a software issue, because everything else is displayed just fine, and it it was monitors fault, it wouldn't be visible in a screenshot:

Whenever I move the Photo Viewer windows across screens, it looks like its (de)applying the sepia filter. Again, it only seems to happen in this particular program, I haven't found any other occurrence. I have latest AMD drivers (and the issue has been since I got the new monitor - on the new monitor of course), I just removed both monitors drivers and let windows install then on its own, I don't know much about calibration, ICC profiles and such. What can I do?
GIF Pictures Doesn't Animate In Windows Picture Viewer

The problem here is that it works well when i view it using google chrome but it shows only one frame i.e no animation in windows picture and fax viewer. I remember it was working well in my old PC which run XP.

I opened a Scan image and by default it used the Picture Program that was bundled on the Start Screen.
Somehow I made the Scan the default new icon, which looks awful. How can I get the Icon back to its original?

Windows 8 Start Menu - Open It At Half The Size?
Jul 10, 2013One of the biggest complaints about the Windows 8 start menu/screen, is the fact that it takes up the whole screen, unnecessarily blocking everything a desktop user is currently working on.
I've been playing around with Windows 8.1 Preview, and am getting used to snapping the start screen to the left side, like you can with metro apps, using Win+Arrow.
Because Windows 8 treats the Desktop like an app, it can be displayed on the right half of the screen, while the start menu is snapped to the left half of the screen.
So I'm just wondering whether there's a way to force the start screen to always open at half the fullscreen size? In other words, always snapped to the size.
This would be a great way to meet the fullscreen-start-menu-haters half-way.
Opening Picture - Always Ask Before Open This File
Sep 15, 2014Every time I open a picture it says "Always ask before open this file" ... over and over again, even when I uncheck it.
It never did this before till I had my computer reset to factory default at the repair shop. I am using Windows 8.1
It does it on about half the pictures that I have. I am working on a project and having to open lots and lots of pictures.

Metro Apps Open By Default On Center Monitor?
Sep 15, 2014I'm having a little issue with my Screen Setup and I was wondering if there's a fix to that.
I recently upgraded from to Photoshop CC after seeing a YouTube Video with someone working on the same Wacom Cintiq 24HD Touch I have using the newly introduced Experimental Touch features of PS CC.
Turns out it didn't worked THAT well on mine.
Panning, Zooming and Rotation in PS CC is totally screwed like the axis of them being totally off or outside my Screen and thus causing my Workspace to vanish off screen which is REALLY annoying.
Working with the Issue for a while I noticed that the issue could be related to me using multiple Monitors unlike the Video which only used one and the Cintiq with the Touch Interface NOT being either the center or rather the Main Monitor of the Setup.
Having the Cintiq not as the Main Monitor causes Photoshop CC to relocate the Rotational, Zoom and Move Axis to the Main Monitor and thus cause this agonizing behavior.With the Cintiq now set as the Main Monitor every Metro App I use ( including the Start Screen ) opens out of my normal Field of View.Is there a setting that allows me to keep the Cintiq ( 2 ) to be the Main Monitor because of Photoshop while having Metro Apps open by default on the Center Monitor ( 1 ) ?
I do know that hitting the Windows button in the Task bar will open the Start Screen on the screen it was hit and all Metro Apps opened from there will also open on the now active screen but working like this is kind of cumbersome as I prefer to use a Mouse button ( or the Keyboard Windows Key ) with the Windows Key assigned and there it just doesn't work like I want.

Mar 7, 2014Running windows 8.1 and i use 3 browsers, my main (default) is Opera, the issues i have are opera is set as default browser in opera settings, but for instance when checking emails say overclockers uk i see something catches my eye, i click it and link opens in opera, not in win 8.1, it pops a box up asking how do you want to open this type of link, firefox, google chrome or look for app in dam app store [URL] ....
I go to setup default programs to set associations and guess what, opera is not in the list [URL] .....
