Does it work to window 8.1 ( No Problem/Errors/Any Issue) ?? and maybe there is something better ?
First I thought it was slow. Then I got tired of waiting and figured out how to associate all my photos with the windows photo viewer from the desktop apps like I was used to with Windows 7
However, I would like to give it a fair chance to work. So, I am posting here.
When I click on the photo app, it shows some folders, sometimes it kicks me back to the desktop before I can click anytime. Other times, it may show a photo for a few seconds before kicking me back. Either way, this is not acceptable.
The app is not closing. It is still running because if I click the left corner, I see it and can access it again, if over for a second.
Is this experience common. I have had my windows 8 pc a week and I switched over to windows 8.1 about two days after I initially got it setup. I am a very experienced Windows 7 user. I am trying to be open minded about this new operating system.
In the Metro screen, some shortcuts have an icon that looks like the Windows Photo Viewer icon. Some of these programs are: Macrium Reflect, Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center, TightVNC Viewer and Adobe Reader XI. See the screenshot below. How can I restore the icons, and prevent it from happening again?
View 9 Replies View RelatedBefore upgrading to 8.1 I had a cool Photo Viewer. It was the default viewer so I do not have an app name.
When I selected Photos from the main Start screen, there would be 10 to 15 photos on the screen at the same time and different sizes (large thumb nail). Plus the photos changed individually in a random way. Selected photos randomly from different folders. Very cool.
After upgrading to 8.1 all I get are full screen individual photos in a slide show format.
Is there an app that I should download or am I missing something?
This issue it happens for too long I can't open photos of any kind with the windows photo viewer, I don't know how it happened and I don't remember when. When I try to open nothing happens.. its like something happens for a fraction of a second and nothing. I tried almost everything, well, accept for restore but there is no chance I am doing it the cost is too big.
I just noticed that when i try to view a photo file, two processes pop for a fraction of a sec and immediately disappear, one is COM Surrogate and the other Windows Problem Reporting.
I'm trying to print images/pictures using windows photo viewer and I get this error "Your pictures can't be printed because this error occurred".... It doesn't tell me which error.. simply just says that in the dialog box. THe dialog box comes out like 4 times with the same message and I have to click OK.
I've already tried googling it and the only fix I can find is replacing photowiz and I already did but it has fixed. I've also installed Photo Gallery and it stil lgives me the same error when I try to print and picture. I've also reinstalled all my printer drivers...

Windows Photo Viewer ? now when I open picture I see it not in max size of windows.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI don't really know whether this is related to the graphics cards or drivers or monitor or some driver/software issue but here it is: Windows Photo Viewer (my favorite image viewer) makes photos yellow, and also the empty space behind the photo. It only happens in this program, Photos app displays it just fine, so does photoshop. It's definitely a software issue, because everything else is displayed just fine, and it it was monitors fault, it wouldn't be visible in a screenshot:
And example of two firefox windows open:
Whenever I move the Photo Viewer windows across screens, it looks like its (de)applying the sepia filter. Again, it only seems to happen in this particular program, I haven't found any other occurrence. I have latest AMD drivers (and the issue has been since I got the new monitor - on the new monitor of course), I just removed both monitors drivers and let windows install then on its own, I don't know much about calibration, ICC profiles and such. What can I do?
i had a bunch of images of a chest of drawers i wanted to sell. On my windows 7 PC all the previews showed the images sideways (landscape when they needed to be viewed in portrait). this is not a problem - expected behavior.
On the windows 8 PC all the images appeared portrait and in the correct orientation. images looked perfect. i understand that windows 8 reads the exif data and autorotates the images on previews and in the galleries. a neat trick.
On the windows 8 PC i put an ad on the website that i wanted to sell the drawers, and when i selected the images they previewed portrait in the file browser too. when uploaded the images all came out sideways (landscape) on the website.
this might seem like user error or a rudimentary problem at first, and trust me i have many years as a system admin under my belt, it is going to cause many problems of a similar nature for every user that touches it.
Windows 8 leads you to believe that your images are correctly oriented firstly, and then does not provide an easy way to adjust and save them even if you do know that they need to be adjusted. even in the windows photo viewer on the desktop (non metro viewer) you can rotate an image as much as you like with the buttons and it will not auto save it like it does in Win7.
In Win7 you could see that the image needs adjustment and its a good prompt for you to action, so you open it, rotate it, and it is automatically saved by the photo viewer so then whatever you do with it, it will be oriented correctly.
what i find absolutely crazy is that windows knows the image needs to be rotated, but does not save the image after it autorotates it, so it lulls you into a false sense of security.
i got windows 8 professional 64bit on my asus k53jc i7 quad 2.20 8gb ram 1gb graphic nvidia geforce 520mx + intel hd 300

I have copied my DVDs using CloneDVD2 to my Hard drive. What I do now to view them on TV using WD from my Hard drive. They are in lots of files/chapters instead of one movie format. I assumed once copied I could just drop them into my movie file location to view.

View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I connect my camera to the USB, the Photo App automatically launches and it is driving me nuts. I wouldn't mind using the Photo App but it doesn't give me any option to delete the photos once transferred. I am aware I can right click the device in My PC and Import that way, (like the Windows 7 of old), but the App still opens forcing me to close the screen! I've clicked on the Default setting for Photos and chose Do nothing but the photo App still automatically launches!!! What can I do? I just want the Windows 7 method of importing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe photo app is not displaying any library or file. Whenever I open any picture it opens in the PHOTO app but there is no next or previous feature. That's why I tried to include that folder (from which I want to see the photos) in my picture library. I included the folder into the picture library by right clicking on the folder and selecting the INCLUDE IN LIBRARY option and then PICTURES and the folder get included in it. I checked it manually. But the photo app is still not showing any single thing. its only written there IT'S LONELY IN HERE WITHOUT PHOTOS.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI started up my computer and Windows explorer randomly froze up and hung. I didnt do anything to provoke it. I just sat here waiting for my computer to boot up.Then when I thought it was finished I opened firefox. Then Windows explorer just freezes completely. I tried doing windows key + r. It opened the run window but it froze. Then I tried moving my mouse on the right to open up the charm bar, ( I think it's called that) to hit settings and then restart. When I clicked settings the whole bar just closed out and would close out every time.
I right clicked on the task bar to try and open task manager. When I clicked on task manager it wouldn't ever open. So I couldn't even shut down properly. I just pushed the power button. Then I turned it on again and the same exact thing happened. So I shut it off again.
Then I turned it back on and went to msconfig before it froze up and I set it to boot into safe mode. Then I got into safe mode and ran a malware bytes scan and an avast scan. Nothing came up on either so I just went back to normal boot. The problem stopped now but I want to know what caused that whole thing to happen because it hasn't happened to me before. So I want to look at event viewer to see if that'll explain it. Where would I find that at in event viewer?
I tried to make some animated pictures using photoshop [just trying and i know it's not good at all]
The problem here is that it works well when i view it using google chrome but it shows only one frame i.e no animation in windows picture and fax viewer. I remember it was working well in my old PC which run XP.
I want to see a JPG that I viewed some time ago in the default viewer of Windows 8. Do copies of previously viewed pictures still exist in a directory somewhere? If so, how can I find them?

Since installing Windows 8 Professional 64bit I have been experiencing lots of differnt erros / warnings in event viewer. I have attached an admin log from event viewer which shows the majority of the erros. I currently have all the latest drivers and Windows updates installed. I have contacted Gigabyte for a newer BIOS and they provided me with the latest BETA Bios that they have but this still dates back to 2011.
I have also installed the latest firmware available for my Corsair 120GB SSD. How I can go about resolving these errors.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have my photos nicely filed on my iPhone 5c (categories like 'cats', 'children' etc...) however I now want to move these to my laptop (HP running windows 8.1). When I try the photos just appear as one large batch, and not in their folders still. I'm not sure if this is an iPhone issue or windows 8 issue....I have tried using an app such as PhotoManager Pro but still no luck. Do I just have to recreate the folders on my laptop?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I download a .PDF document and then open it from the browser (Chrome) downloads area, the PDF is opened using the inbuilt Windows 8 PDF viewer in the Metro interface. I would like to change that so I can open it using a PDF viewer of my choice (say Nitro for example) and preferably on the desktop instead of metro.
how to do that?
I recently bought a Dell Inspiron with Windows 8.1. I loaded Paint shop Pro Photo X2 and the program runs fine. However if I exit the program I am unable to restart it. I changed the compatibilty setting to Windows XP service pk 3 and I was able to restart it. But the next day it won't restart. I have to turn off the computer and turn it back on to get the program running.
