I have a system with an SSD and HDD and i store my pictures on my HDD.
Using the properties of the picture library, i added the directory of my pictures stored on my HDD. However, when i open up the standard pictures app of windows 8, all i see are the pictures in my c:usersuesername_000
I'm trying to print images/pictures using windows photo viewer and I get this error "Your pictures can't be printed because this error occurred".... It doesn't tell me which error.. simply just says that in the dialog box. THe dialog box comes out like 4 times with the same message and I have to click OK.
I've already tried googling it and the only fix I can find is replacing photowiz and I already did but it has fixed. I've also installed Photo Gallery and it stil lgives me the same error when I try to print and picture. I've also reinstalled all my printer drivers...
I don't really know whether this is related to the graphics cards or drivers or monitor or some driver/software issue but here it is: Windows Photo Viewer (my favorite image viewer) makes photos yellow, and also the empty space behind the photo. It only happens in this program, Photos app displays it just fine, so does photoshop. It's definitely a software issue, because everything else is displayed just fine, and it it was monitors fault, it wouldn't be visible in a screenshot:
And example of two firefox windows open:
Whenever I move the Photo Viewer windows across screens, it looks like its (de)applying the sepia filter. Again, it only seems to happen in this particular program, I haven't found any other occurrence. I have latest AMD drivers (and the issue has been since I got the new monitor - on the new monitor of course), I just removed both monitors drivers and let windows install then on its own, I don't know much about calibration, ICC profiles and such. What can I do?
I seem to have some Audio files that whatever I do seem always to play in the order 1,10, 11...2,20,21... etc instead of 1,2,3,.. etc
I've got the file names in the correct sequence -- it only happens on a few albums bit it's mega annoying since if I'm playing an Audiobook in a Car I obviously want the tracks to be in the CORRECT sequence.
Here's an example of what a music app shows the order - and from MP3Vtag you can see the filenames are in the correct sequence.
Looking to add a specific tag/label based functionality to my computer.
I have tons and tons of programs, photos, videos, documents, and other files on my Windows 8 computer, and I need a way to organize and search/filter them that meets some very specific criteria. Unfortunately, as I am sure that most are aware of these days, organization by folder is extremely llimited.
For example, let's say that I have a bunch of pictures. I have one of me and my brother celebrating his birthday. I may want to file that picture by "family", "birthday", and "Severin" - so that if I search on any of those, I can find it. Another picture may be a family cookout, maybe I want to file it by "family" and "summer 2013".
The way Google uses labels in Gmail would seem an ideal system, if something like that could be added. Here are some other criteria that my ideal system would use:
-It would integrate itself into the operating system, so that when browsing I can access, see, and modify the tag of the files in the folder I am in without havening to launch a separate application. Access via right-click would be a plus.
-It would be location independent - once I have tagged/labelled a file, I could then move that file from one location on my hard drive to another, and still pull it easily via tag/label searching without (of course) needing to know or specify where it is.
-It would have to work with all file types. For example, even though I know Windows 8 have built in support for metadata tags, some video file types do not support it, and therefore Windows 8 cannot add tags to those files. Whatever the solution I wind up with, it must work on ALL files I care to tag.
-Multi-tagging is also a critical feature - so I can select a group of files and tag them all at once, either to add, modify, or remove a tag, without of course altering any pre-existing tags other than the intended.
-A bonus would be if it was aesthetically compatible with Windows 7/8, both in its look and feel and in it's UI.
-Finally, there would have to be a way for it to work across the network - I store all my files in a desktop Windows 8 Computer, but access the files from that computer, or from my laptop, or my media center, or my wife's computer. I would need to be able to do both searching and tagging from any computer with network access to the main one, even if I have to install the same software or plugins on each system individually.
i recently lost a computer(mother board failure)but the hard drive is in tact and i can access with a SATA to usb device. have another computer up and running win 8. i am wondering how i find and transfer user specific data for instance i have a typing tutor program my wife and i both use we have different user names and have progressed differently. once i reload applications what do i need to move from the old hard drive to restore those applications to the earlier state with all user data, id, preferences, application progress etc.is this data located in each applications folder or stored in separate locations throughout win 8
i got windows 8 professional 64bit on my asus k53jc i7 quad 2.20 8gb ram 1gb graphic nvidia geforce 520mx + intel hd 300
i installed 3-4 days ago windows 8 but i dont get it why apps , photo , store , bing deskopt or anything else witch are on the start dont work u just click them they dont start just stay in backround i really dont get it.
Every time I connect my camera to the USB, the Photo App automatically launches and it is driving me nuts. I wouldn't mind using the Photo App but it doesn't give me any option to delete the photos once transferred. I am aware I can right click the device in My PC and Import that way, (like the Windows 7 of old), but the App still opens forcing me to close the screen! I've clicked on the Default setting for Photos and chose Do nothing but the photo App still automatically launches!!! What can I do? I just want the Windows 7 method of importing.
The photo app is not displaying any library or file. Whenever I open any picture it opens in the PHOTO app but there is no next or previous feature. That's why I tried to include that folder (from which I want to see the photos) in my picture library. I included the folder into the picture library by right clicking on the folder and selecting the INCLUDE IN LIBRARY option and then PICTURES and the folder get included in it. I checked it manually. But the photo app is still not showing any single thing. its only written there IT'S LONELY IN HERE WITHOUT PHOTOS.
I get an error showing specific module missing while trying to install MS Office 2013... I uninstalled older version using Microsoft fix it also..... Even that's is of no use... How to over come this error
First I thought it was slow. Then I got tired of waiting and figured out how to associate all my photos with the windows photo viewer from the desktop apps like I was used to with Windows 7
However, I would like to give it a fair chance to work. So, I am posting here.
When I click on the photo app, it shows some folders, sometimes it kicks me back to the desktop before I can click anytime. Other times, it may show a photo for a few seconds before kicking me back. Either way, this is not acceptable.
The app is not closing. It is still running because if I click the left corner, I see it and can access it again, if over for a second.
Is this experience common. I have had my windows 8 pc a week and I switched over to windows 8.1 about two days after I initially got it setup. I am a very experienced Windows 7 user. I am trying to be open minded about this new operating system.
I have a problem with my fresh install of Windows 8.1. In the settings menu I have enabled the option to play a slideshow on the lockscreen and that when my PC is inactive it will show the lock screen instead of turning off the screen. For testing purposes I have set the screen turn off timer to 1 minute, but here's what happens:
After that one minute, the screen will dim slightly for a brief moment as if it wants to turn off the screen/go to the lockscreen slideshow. Then one minute later, it will do the exact thing again. Like it's being waked the second it wants to turn off the screen.
I used the file explorer on desktop to move a bunch of pictures off an external backup drive and into the pictures folder within my pictures library. They now show up under the pictures library in desktop. But the Metro Pictures app insists that there are no pictures in my pictures library.
I'm trying to import pictures from external device (in this case - android phone with PTP) and in the import dialog I've selected "import settings" and then I'm trying to change "Import images to" location, but when I click on Browse and select the same path I was using on windows 7 (on E: partition) I get error "You cannot import to this folder.
Choose another location" which, frankly, doesn't make much sense. I've tried permissions and so forth and I can easily browse and save picture there, I'm the owner and all that. Why Pictures Importer complains and doesn't allow me to use this location? I don't want to import to %profile%/Pictures because it's small-ish system drive :|
The Photos app on my Windows 8.1 Pro PC won't show any pictures either in the Pictures Library or in OneDrive. It only can display folders but not pictures. In other Windows Store apps, another weird things happens. The photos show up but with no thumbnails. I tried a reformat and reinstall and the problem disappeared. That is until I signed in my Microsoft account. The problem comes back.
NOTE: I'm using Hotspot Shield because an error appears every time I install Windows updates or Windows Store apps. I use Hotspot Shield to bypass this error but even disabling it doesn't solve the problem.
Any way to get rid of Metro appz which come with Win8 directly working with Dism. Also it's possible to restore standard file associations so that pictures open with Image viewer without switching to Metro UI.
Note: c: est contains my offline image.
Code: dism /image:c: est /Remove-ProvisionedAppxPackage /PackageName:Microsoft.BingFinance_18.104.22.168_x86__8wekyb3d8bbwe dism /image:c: est /Remove-ProvisionedAppxPackage /PackageName:Microsoft.BingMaps_22.214.171.124_x86__8wekyb3d8bbwe
To fix associations, save this XML as "AppAssoc.xml":
MY PC is Windows 8 x64 with 8 gig RAM and a Quad core 2.3G I think Intel CPU,I have downloaded (twice) an install file of Paintshop Pro X6 but I cannot install it, I get an error message that a newly created folder cannot be accessed and that I need to log on as an Admin.
I am the only user and am the administrator..
The software was written for Windows 8 64 bit compatibility and I know many people who have installed it without a problem so I cannot go to the provider and say the software is buggy.
I thought I may have a virus so I reverted to a Casper 8 Clone of my hard drive from two weeks ago, ran a full Defender, Malwarebytes, Superantspyware and ADWCleanr, these installed without a problem, but the Paintshop Pro X6 will still not install.
I've a brand new Asus laptop running (x64) Windows 8 (Ver 6.2.92). As I hated Win 8 when I got it & using it hasn't changed my mind, I've just been switching to Win 7 for anything I'm doing. I can't remember if the desktop slideshow ever worked but it's certainly not done so for quite some time now since I got it at Christmas. I'm well versed in using it (as I use it on my main desktop machine) but on the laptop have found that it sticks on one image (regardless of power plan changes). If I go into the slideshow & make any changes it will change the display image once on saving & then stick again. I also can't change it manually using the Right Click Next desktop background method, so have no choice but to just revert to XP mode of having a single image !
I have many folders (with a couple of thousand files) configured to display sorted by date. When using software and needing to open a file from within the program, it opens what looks like an Explorer window. However, the sort order is always by name initially and it takes a minute or so to suddenly display in the correct sort order as specified in Windows itself.
If I repeat this a few minutes later it goes through the routine all over again!
Running explorer from Windows 8 itself is no problem, it remembers the sort order. Is there a way to make third party software that calls up an explorer window do the same please?
Incidentally having given up on the truly slow and clumsy windows search function, I installed Search Everything and it is instant and reliable. Why can't Microsoft Search be like that?
In other verisons of windows the tiles on the taskbar would be in order from time. If i opened Google Chrome, and then Adobe, and then another Google Chrome instance it would look that way. Now however it "groups" the two Google Chrome ones near other, and the Adobe one on the left. Anyway to change that?
