When I try to update or change the setting I get an error message that an error occurred while windows was synchronizing. I have tried to do a system file check but get the error message that Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested service or start the Repair Service. I have checked that Windows Modules Installer is set to manual and so I don't know how else I can repair this error 131.

Jan 1, 2014I started up my computer and Windows explorer randomly froze up and hung. I didnt do anything to provoke it. I just sat here waiting for my computer to boot up.Then when I thought it was finished I opened firefox. Then Windows explorer just freezes completely. I tried doing windows key + r. It opened the run window but it froze. Then I tried moving my mouse on the right to open up the charm bar, ( I think it's called that) to hit settings and then restart. When I clicked settings the whole bar just closed out and would close out every time.
I right clicked on the task bar to try and open task manager. When I clicked on task manager it wouldn't ever open. So I couldn't even shut down properly. I just pushed the power button. Then I turned it on again and the same exact thing happened.So I shut it off again.
Then I turned it back on and went to msconfig before it froze up and I set it to boot into safe mode.Then I got into safe mode and ran a malware bytes scan and an avast scan. Nothing came up on either so I just went back to normal boot. The problem stopped now but I want to know what caused that whole thing to happen because it hasn't happened to me before.So I want to look at event viewer to see if that'll explain it. Where would I find that at in event viewer?

Lots Of Errors In Event Viewer Since Installing Windows 8 Pro 64bit
Jan 26, 2013Since installing Windows 8 Professional 64bit I have been experiencing lots of differnt erros / warnings in event viewer. I have attached an admin log from event viewer which shows the majority of the erros. I currently have all the latest drivers and Windows updates installed. I have contacted Gigabyte for a newer BIOS and they provided me with the latest BETA Bios that they have but this still dates back to 2011.
I have also installed the latest firmware available for my Corsair 120GB SSD. How I can go about resolving these errors.
Cannot Open Event Viewer Anymore
Jul 17, 2014I don't know what happened but I can no longer open Event Viewer. When I click on the icon to open it, the computer appears to work for a split second but then nothing happens. No window opens or anything.

Jul 19, 2013Lately, while browsing, the computer start to freeze in this way:
First the browser (any browser) gets stuck loading pages but it is responsive (I can change tabs, scroll, select text etc)
The taskbar stops working at all and the mouse cursor changes to spinning circle when I hover on it.
The desktop screen seems to work at first, but it freezes too with the spinning circle if I open anything or right click.
CTRL ALT DEL, ALT TAB and start screen shortcuts won't work.
I have to reset because I can't reach shutdown or reboot options. Then the computer returns to normal.
Checked hard disk, and sfc /scannow without any errors. No errors in Event viewer.

Oct 24, 2013I think I got this Event Log error after I upgraded to 8.1 but I' not sure. Anyway, when I go to event viewer I get a message that says "One or more logs in the query have errors" and then is says the Log that it cannot find is "Microsoft-Windows-DxpTaskRingtone/Analytic". I have looked and the log does not exist and OF COURSE when I try to cheat the system and create the log it does not like the "/" in the name! What the heck is going on and how I can tell Windows 8.1 to create the log.

These two messages went away for awhile and now the're are back. How to make them go away? I don't think I did anything with tracing to make this happen?! I know I should make a pledge to never look at the Event Log but...every once in awhile I uncover something that can be fixed. I have Googled the messages but don't seem to be able to find any real solution. I tried deleting the .etl file but it fills up on the next boot.
Maintenance :: Live Kernel Event Hardware Error Without Symptoms?
Aug 14, 2014Today, I started up my PC and after browsing on it for an hour I noticed a LiveKernelEvent hardware error in the Performance and Reliability graph. Looking at the time of the error, it appears that it occurred seconds after booting up my PC. The weird thing is that the PC didn't act strange or freeze up. Also, googling this error shows that it's mainly associated with BSOD's while my PC didn't give any.
I couldn't find any errors about it in the logs but there is only an information log about it (Dutch):

Note that at Parameter 1 a code named "ab" is given which I couldn't find at all on the internet (usually P1 codes are numbers). Also, I could only find 2 files that were given by the error log (see attachment). There are no minidumps in C:/windows while it is enabled in the options to register any.
What the cause of this error by looking the files. I just recently formatted my PC and installed all latest updates.

When I try to open nothing happens.. its like something happens for a fraction of a second and nothing. I tried almost everything, well, accept for restore but there is no chance I am doing it the cost is too big.
I just noticed that when i try to view a photo file, two processes pop for a fraction of a sec and immediately disappear, one is COM Surrogate and the other Windows Problem Reporting.

Sep 15, 2014I'm trying to print images/pictures using windows photo viewer and I get this error "Your pictures can't be printed because this error occurred".... It doesn't tell me which error.. simply just says that in the dialog box. THe dialog box comes out like 4 times with the same message and I have to click OK.
I've already tried googling it and the only fix I can find is replacing photowiz and I already did but it has fixed. I've also installed Photo Gallery and it stil lgives me the same error when I try to print and picture. I've also reinstalled all my printer drivers...

Oct 24, 2013First I thought it was slow. Then I got tired of waiting and figured out how to associate all my photos with the windows photo viewer from the desktop apps like I was used to with Windows 7
However, I would like to give it a fair chance to work. So, I am posting here.
When I click on the photo app, it shows some folders, sometimes it kicks me back to the desktop before I can click anytime. Other times, it may show a photo for a few seconds before kicking me back. Either way, this is not acceptable.
The app is not closing. It is still running because if I click the left corner, I see it and can access it again, if over for a second.
Is this experience common. I have had my windows 8 pc a week and I switched over to windows 8.1 about two days after I initially got it setup. I am a very experienced Windows 7 user. I am trying to be open minded about this new operating system.
Windows 8.1 Event Log Errors
Oct 27, 2013I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 and started getting a whole bunch of Event Log Errors. Today I downloaded and installed new drivers for Windows 8.1 that were posted on the ASRock site dated 10/25/2013. Much to my surprise the new drivers actually made most of the Event Log Errors go away - at least for now!
The first one is the Event ID 257, Defrag Error. I did a fresh install of Windows 8 and let it setup the SSD with the three partitions - Recover Partition, EFI System Partition and the Windows 8 Partition. I use Acronis 2013 to back up the SSD on a regular basis! For some reason Windows 8.1 wants to Defrag a partition on the SSD? What do I have to change to make the Event Log Error stop. What have I done to cause the problem?
The second one is the Event ID 10016, DistributedCom Error. I have Googled/Binged and have come up with what appears to be, at least for a novice, convoluted procedures to fix. Is there a real straight forward detailed instruction on how to go about changing whatever it is that needs to be changed to fix the error. Again, what did I do to the system to make this error happen?
I'm real close to a system that might be Event Log Error free (at least for a moment) if that is possible.
Windows 8.1 Freezing Event ID 129 And 153
Jan 31, 2014I have been having this issue for a week or 2 and I have tried all sorts of fixes. Hard drive tests as fine. I have done a registry edit to add ahci to power management, I have deleted the sata controller and installed generic ahci drivers nothing seems to fix this.
