I have just bought a new sony vaio laptop and I am operating windows 8.1 I have downloaded all my holidays photos into a folder, however, I want to rearrange them in a different order. I am unable to do this as the photos are being arranged in date & time order....and I cannot seem to change this. I have even 'renamed' the photos in the numerical order that I want, but the computer returns them back to date & time order.

I have downloaded, and, I think, disabled autoarrange. I am now able to rearrange the photos in a standard desktop file. However, it does not carry over to my photo gallery. There is probably a step I have failed to complete, but I can't find it.

If I insert a flash drive with pictures on it & select 'Import' in Photos, it will import the photos but after supposedly downloading them, nothing! I have the 'Show photos & videos' box ticked off in Settings on the Charms panel.

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe Photos app on my Windows 8.1 Pro PC won't show any pictures either in the Pictures Library or in OneDrive. It only can display folders but not pictures. In other Windows Store apps, another weird things happens. The photos show up but with no thumbnails. I tried a reformat and reinstall and the problem disappeared. That is until I signed in my Microsoft account. The problem comes back.
NOTE: I'm using Hotspot Shield because an error appears every time I install Windows updates or Windows Store apps. I use Hotspot Shield to bypass this error but even disabling it doesn't solve the problem.
Is this possible? I have 3 open Chrome windows that are minimized in the taskbar. I would like them to remain in the order that I originally opened them, but sometimes Windows 8 decides to switch their order. It's extremely frustrating and totally breaks up the flow of my work. Can I rearrange them back?

This way I can't rearrange any apps, can't add any of them to start screen to, nothing.. I can only open them. There is no menu after right clicking on any icon, there is no menu after clicking empty space surrounding icons.

I haven't found a way to rearrange the order that the accounts are listed in the bottom left corner of the mail app window.
I used to use Picasa to resize photos when I used Vista. From what I've read, Picasa and Windows 8 are not compatible. I'm looking for a way to resize photos that is free. Can I do it with what is already in Windows 8 or do I need to download software? One possibility seems to be pic resize.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am importing photos and videos from CANON VIXIA HF 200 HD camcorder. When I choose "Date Taken" as the sort order for the folder, date is not detected at all. All the files are tagged with date under Dec 26, 1899. I have used the same SD card to import in a windows 7 PC, all the dates are detected correctly. This issue happens only with CANON camcorder. It works fine with a NIKON camera - Dates recognized correctly.

We need to document certain conditions at various locations while working in the field and this technique seems to be our best bet. We're currently doing this with ease with our iPads but I can't find anything for Windows 8. I'd be happy using the iPad to do this task but that would mean we would need both tablets since the other program we need is a Windows only program and the reason we bought the tablets in the first place.

I've seen in options in Photos app, Skydrive is checked. But the Photos app doesn't show my photos on my Skydrive.

I have a new install of Windows 8 Home, 64 Bit OEM version and when I look in My Pictures, My Videos, and My Music these libraries are empty. In the past after installing Windows, I used these files to do a quick check to see that sound card and other parts of the system were working. I went to try that in Windows 8 and no files!
I do not know if they are there but in a new location, or if they are no longer included, or if something went wrong with the install, or something else.
I am also not finding any sample photos when I start up the Photo Tile App.
The metro photo app (that comes with Windows 8) is showing photos on the live tiles that were deleted over a week ago.
I've turns lives tiles on and off. I've unpinned from the start screen and then re-pinned. I deleted personal info from the tiles from the settings screen. I've verified that the photos are not on my computer (photo app is only showing the computer and skydrive).
This issue it happens for too long I can't open photos of any kind with the windows photo viewer, I don't know how it happened and I don't remember when. When I try to open nothing happens.. its like something happens for a fraction of a second and nothing. I tried almost everything, well, accept for restore but there is no chance I am doing it the cost is too big.
I just noticed that when i try to view a photo file, two processes pop for a fraction of a sec and immediately disappear, one is COM Surrogate and the other Windows Problem Reporting.
