I am importing photos and videos from CANON VIXIA HF 200 HD camcorder. When I choose "Date Taken" as the sort order for the folder, date is not detected at all. All the files are tagged with date under Dec 26, 1899. I have used the same SD card to import in a windows 7 PC, all the dates are detected correctly. This issue happens only with CANON camcorder. It works fine with a NIKON camera - Dates recognized correctly.
View 9 RepliesI like the Metro app because it is the simplest to understand and I believe I do know *all* other ways to read SD card data into any folder I choose.
Autoplay has been properly selected. I put the SD card into the slot and immediately the files are read, but when they are selected and imported they end up in the default folder "Pictures." I really don't believe there is any way to change this folder if I insist on using the Metro app, but is there??
Iaccidentally deleted my photos and videos... I'll try to search the recycle bin....but inside was empty how do i restore it back? i'll try system restore and many software but also didn't work.... those photo ad videos is very important to me.... I'm using windows 8

I have a new install of Windows 8 Home, 64 Bit OEM version and when I look in My Pictures, My Videos, and My Music these libraries are empty. In the past after installing Windows, I used these files to do a quick check to see that sound card and other parts of the system were working. I went to try that in Windows 8 and no files!
I do not know if they are there but in a new location, or if they are no longer included, or if something went wrong with the install, or something else.
I am also not finding any sample photos when I start up the Photo Tile App.

I have been using XP system, outlook express on a desktop computer. As XP is "out", I am now using a laptop Asus Q501LA-BB15T03 and want to use my old outlook express email address file on the new computer. I made up a .csv file to transfer the information and don't know how to import it into the new computer which is set up for Windows Live Mail 2012.

I have gone to the Hyper-V Manager, selected Import Virtual Machine. I select the proper directory and then I get the message, "Hyper-V did not find virtual machines...". I am running as administrator.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI did a clean install of Windows 8. Of course, before doing the clean install, I backed up all of my data including the "Contacts" folder under my user name. The clean install progressed as expected (I've done clean installs many times previously). When I copied my information back, I also copied the contents of the Contacts folder back.
Now I want to import my contacts into the new People App. I have a live ID and everything seems to be working fine, except I cannot get my contacts imported. I've gone to the contacts folder and exported the contacts as a CSV file (there are only two export options, CSV and vCard). When I go to the People App and try to "import from a file", I get an error message saying my CSV file is NOT a CSV file. Just to make sure I tried all my options, I went back and tried exporting as a vCard file and when I try to import I get an error message saying there is an internal error.
I've searched the net and, from what I can find, I seem to be doing the right thing using a CSV file, but am not getting the end result.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to import pictures from external device (in this case - android phone with PTP) and in the import dialog I've selected "import settings" and then I'm trying to change "Import images to" location, but when I click on Browse and select the same path I was using on windows 7 (on E: partition) I get error "You cannot import to this folder.
Choose another location" which, frankly, doesn't make much sense. I've tried permissions and so forth and I can easily browse and save picture there, I'm the owner and all that. Why Pictures Importer complains and doesn't allow me to use this location? I don't want to import to %profile%/Pictures because it's small-ish system drive :|
During Windows 8 setup, the only option it gives you for email is...@outlook.com. Once you use it, it asks if there are any other email accts. you would like to import. It worked good. Now I no longer want to import emails from the site. For the life of me I cannot find a way to turn off the Import.

I have installed Outlook 2013 and would like to import my contacts from my outlook 2007 in another computer. I have already prepared the contacts.pst file from outlook 2007 and made it available in my public folders. I then imported the .pst file into Outlook 2013 via network. However the contacts shows up as a separate contact list rather than integrated into the outlook 2013 address book . How to correct it?
I must have got the process wrong.
I have downloaded, and, I think, disabled autoarrange. I am now able to rearrange the photos in a standard desktop file. However, it does not carry over to my photo gallery. There is probably a step I have failed to complete, but I can't find it.

If I insert a flash drive with pictures on it & select 'Import' in Photos, it will import the photos but after supposedly downloading them, nothing! We need to document certain conditions at various locations while working in the field and this technique seems to be our best bet. We're currently doing this with ease with our iPads but I can't find anything for Windows 8. I'd be happy using the iPad to do this task but that would mean we would need both tablets since the other program we need is a Windows only program and the reason we bought the tablets in the first place.
