I'm wanting to change the email address I use to log on to my system. Is there an easy way to do this or do I need to back up all my files and move them over to a new account?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new ASUS notebook and it uses Windows 8. On my home pc I have Windows Vista and was able to set up multiply email accounts in Window Live Mail. (my charter, my hubby charter, 2 school google accounts and yahoo).
I was able to read mail coming thru our main email acct (my charter), if an email came thru that needed to go to my hubbys account or another account I was able to drop and drag it to the other account listed on the screen.
I have most of my emails set up on my new ASUS notebook. Is there any way to drop and drag emails from one account to another? I can drag the email and hover over the new email account, but it does not drag it.
I am new to the notebook thing and windows 8.
Just updated my desktop and it came installed with Windows 8.1. Previously used Vista & XP. Thought I had set up user accounts etc correctly. Have a Hotmail and talktalk account supposedly installed but now my talktalk email looks totally different from Vista and will receive but will not reply or send. I log into it through 'google/talktalkmail otherwise using the mail icon it opens just like Hotmail and I have only my limited hotmail contacts. Where to access various settings etc. I do not have a 'start button' ...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to add several email accounts to 'Mail' in Windows 8. So far I have successfully added Hotmail, and BT mail. I am now trying to add my 2 Virginmedia NTL accounts using the imap settings shown on the Virginmedia support site but neither of them install correctly...though they do work. The problem is the Folders list on the left hand side shows only Inbox, Flagged, Outbox and then for some very strange reason it lists (Gmail) Folders...see attachment Ntl account.doc.
I have tried deleting these folders but they come back after a few seconds. I have also noticed that 'Mail' must keep details of additional accounts hidden away somewhere as whichever NTL account I create it always uses the first account name I ever entered...'Ntlworld' which was a typo...and all subsequent attempts to create this account have been spelt correctly.
HP laptop with Windows 8.1 updated. I want to change my log in email and still keep everything I have in that account. Setting up an alias starts a new account and I would have to reinstall everything I already have installed. Is it possible to do to just change the email addie and keep everything?
View 1 Replies View RelatedDuring the night my windows desktop with Windows 8.1 pre-release was update to Windows 8.1 release.
Of course it deleted my Favorites in IE & updated to IE11. It also deleted all my contacts in Mail.
However when I logged into my other desktop using my MS account, it updated IE Favorites & Mail contacts to 0.
I had this info on my portable & put this info on a thumb drive. There is no way to import or export this info into IE11 or Mail.
Is there something I missed on this procedure?
I was under the impression that I had control of my computer & not MS!
The Win 8.1 Mail app is showing two 'Junk' folders for my 'live.com' email accounts. One contains my junk mail, but clicking the extra folder just displays the 'busy' spinning icon and never opens the folder. How can I delete the extra folder? Opening my accounts with Outlook.com only has one junk folder. This problem showed up with the latest Windows 8.1 Update.
View 6 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I went to Outlook.Com and established an email account. Now I want to delete that account and remove all things associated with Outlook.com but still retain my Microsoft Account. It might come in handy for getting Apps and other things from the Microsoft Store.
I tried to remove the Outlook.com email account using the instruction I found in How To Close & Delete Outlook.com Account I was unable to do so. When I got to the Close Microsoft Account section and pressed OK, it reminded me I needed to close any paid services associated with my Microsoft Account. I've no such services. Pressing OK again took me to the Account Summary page. There I could find no way to close the Outlook.com email account, just another Close Account that took me back to the previous step.
I am getting a Windows 8 tablet and want to set up Gmail on the Windows 8 mail app. I don't have a Microsoft account.
Should I sign up for a MS account using a Hotmail address, or using my Gmail address? What is the advantage in using a Hotmail address in order to access my Gmail. What are the pros & cons?
I'd like to be able to view/send email but not download it onto my tablet, as I use Live Mail on my main PC and want all my downloaded email on that computer.
I have just brought over my Gmail account into my Outlook.com account. I can now send or receive GMail using the Outlook.com web interface. Is there a way I can create seperate Signatures for each email account (@outlook.com and @gmail.com)?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've installed Windows 8.1 Home Premium on my parents laptop and I'm now trying to set up their email account.
It is a non MS account which Windows 8 doesn't seem to allow me to create. I've searched for a solution but they seem to require the Local Group policy to be edited and as far I've researched home premium doesn't include the management function to do so.
Does this mean if you are using Windows 8.1 Home Premium you are tied to using a MS mail account.
All instructions for adding an e-mail account to the mail app, say to go to Settings and click on accounts. When I click on Settings all I get is Change PC Settings, and there is no account option there.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a shiny new laptop yesterday with windows 8 pre-installed. After setting a few things up, i restarted the computer for the first time. At this time the computer downloaded many updates. On start up since my user account has been downgraded to a guest account. This is the only account on the computer, as such i do not have administrator rights and i am unable to log in as an administrator.
May I have to restore the computer back to factory settings but how to do this without being the administrator.
I am a system administrator in a large enterprise environment and we are doing a rollout of Windows 8.1. In our image capture we somehow captured a setting that is disabling users from setting up a connected account with their domain account. I am relatively sure that it is in my unattend and I can fix it for machines going forward but I really don't want to have to reimage the machines I've already deployed.
When I go to connect an account, the "connect to a Microsoft account" option is grayed out and the "some settings are managed by your administrator" message is displayed at the top. This is NOT a group policy object that is applying. The machines are in a test OU and there is absolutely no policy applied. I have searched all through local policy and even did a search through the registry for "account" (that took forever) but have been unable to find any registry key or local policy that would be causing this issue.
What setting might be causing this? I have 30+ machines already out in the environment and the user experience is going to be terrible if I have to reimage them all.
How can I connect my hotmail account to my Windows account? I have connected that mail to my account on previous installation. My OS is Windows 8 Enterprise x64.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use skydrive on two different computers, but when I made them both with the same MS account they synced stuff to each other, which I do not want.
I made a local account on one computer, but if I want to access Skydrive, it changes that account, back to the main account.
Is there a way to access the same Skydrive account through the app without making them the same user account?
Or is there a way to unsync different computers?
I have a user with a machine that was setup with Win 8.1 Home. The machine has been upgraded to 8.1 Pro and joined to a domain (WinSrv 2003). I need to get the content/configuration from their old local machine user profile to their new domain user profile.
I tried to copy the contents of their ../users/<name>/.. folder from the local user profile to the new domain user profile (after they had logged in once, and then logged off). This did not work. When I did the copy, I grabbed all files, including hidden...was that my mistake, or is the issue broader?
In the end....they want their old stuff and configuration under their new credentials/profile.
When I have a pdf attachment in an email and save the same into downloads or documents how to print it. When I open the attachment it opens into a full size screen and there is no print option.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTried to follow instructions I was led to on YouTube to delete old email showing where I sign in with Windows 8.1 Pro Update.
Thought I'd cracked it as the old email has now disappeared from everywhere else I used it to sign in.
Signed back into Windows and.................... there it was again.
I was asked did I want to delete signing in with Windows and sign in locally. Now I'm not smart, but I didn't like the sound of that so cancelled that option.
Why my mail keeps disappearing i use the normal mail app in win 8.1 and i keep moving mail i want to keep to a private folder but although i check to make sure it is there at a later date it is not, I only use this folder to store mail that i want to keep so it is not me deleting them by mistake.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave recently done a clean reinstallation on an SSD of Windows 8.1 including Media. The installation completed without problems and all is working as before except....Wanting to download an item from the STORE I found my password was not accepted.I then created an Alias to gain access to my account. this informed me I needed to put in my password to change it which of course was not possible.
System and Security advised to turn on updated latest Password, but this only applied to my new alias, so I deleted my original account hoping I would then be able to use my new Alias....again not possible.Three more Alias Accounts and numerous Codes by phone and e-mail again failed.
Filling in forms giving all my accumulated password confirmed all was legit. Trying once again to gain access to my account informed there was no such account.
The only Way I can see to solve this problem is when opening Store and trying to download an item a strip appears showing with my "original e-mail registration" and below a space for my password. Is it possible to change this "e-mail registration" to a new ALIAS thereby allowing me to use a new password

Now in Windows 8 it starts that HORRIBLE windows mail metro app --which wants a Microsoft account and all sorts of other BS
