Deleting Email Address So That It Can Be Reloaded?
May 10, 2014
Due to changes of servers used by BT, we have had to reset all of the technology in the house, but I got stich when I looked at my laptop, as I could not find out how to change the details to start again even though its the same e-mail address.
I was used to using windows 7 but windows 8.1 is causing me some problems
I'm wanting to change the email address I use to log on to my system. Is there an easy way to do this or do I need to back up all my files and move them over to a new account?
I am not finding a way to include my icloud email address in the Win 8.1 mail. I had Windows live mail, but the download to 8.1 has left me to see a dll is missing window when I try to view my mail. I like being able to sync my mail with devices...but it appears Win 8.1 may not allow it.
How do I change the email address associated with my Windows 8 computer?
I got a new laptop with Windows 8 for Christmas. It was my first exposure to Windows 8 and I sailed through the installation/setup pretty quickly. Unfortunately, I've forgotten most of what I did and now I have a problem.
When I sign in to Windows 8, it shows me my main email address. But I've just moved and cancelled my account with that ISP. In another couple of days or weeks, the account will die and what will happen with regards to signing on to Windows 8. I assume I need to go to a website somewhere and re-register my laptop in some way to use a different email address.
Microsoft Account keeps rejecting my email address saying it must only contain letters, numbers etc. I used the same email address to register for this forum.
When I set up my computer, I accidentally made a typo in my email address. I'm trying to download some Microsoft software from the internet and this typo is causing me dramas because it's not a real email address and I can't go any further with downloads without verifying the email address by accessing a verification email in an email address that doesn't exist!!! Confused? Yup, me too.
It seems like such a simple thing but I cannot find a way to go back and change the administrator email address. I can't find an option to do so in account users. I have made a new account user using my real email address but... I just keep hitting brick walls.
So my new windows 8 laptop came today and as you can imagine I was very excited. Because of the excitement, whilst setting up my microsoft account I made 2 spelling errors in the email. Now that my pc has been set up and stuff, my microsoft account isn't because their activation email is going to an email address that doesnt exist...how do I change this bloody email to a correct one without having to redo everything...
My Windows 8 installation crashed this AM and the repair tools couldn't fix it. I ran the "Reset" option, which keeps my settings and data but reinstalls Windows 8. Well, things seemed to go OK, but none of my settings were kept (I had to reconfigure Outlook 2013, etc... and I'm getting this error now, which is preventing me from installing Acronis, Nero and VDownloader.
I was wondering if it is possible to use a URL instead of an IP address for a HTTP proxy? All HTTP proxies I have seen have all been IP addresses and I want to set one up on my Desktop at home and use one of my URL's as the proxy address. Isthis possible or does it have to be an IP?
I use keyboard shortcuts extensively. Some are application specific, some are system shortcuts. I am finding that Windows 8 shortcuts are overriding shortcuts I use in some applications, and I would like to be able to delete or reassign the system shortcut so I can use it in an application. However, while there is a myriad of posts on different people's ideas of "essential" keyboard shortcuts, I can find no information on how to change shortcuts.
I have searched all the keywords I can think of & I can't seem to find this problem addressed anywhere. The type on my address toolbar in the taskbar is very faded. Almost like it's grayed out, but not quite. I had it do this when I first installed Win 8.1, messed with some settings, but none that seemed to make any sense & it went away. Now it's back & I haven't done any setting changes!
I recently upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8 pro. The install went well. During the post install I found that I could not use the numeric keys to enter numbers into my browser address bar. I tried all three browsers, Firefox, IE 10, and chrome. I tried a second keyboard with the same results. I verified that the system worked correctly at the OS level by entering numbers and special characters into notepad. There are several other places that the problem is present.
When I enter my password to get into Comcast webmail and when I enter a password containing either a number or special character in a prompt for accessing one of my network devices. Any problems with keyboard control after upgrading to win 8?
So it just seemed to happen the other day but when I go to search for something in the address bar it would normally search bing, however I noticed today it searches my ISP which is charter.
I tried going tools>manage add-ons>search providers but bing is the only one listed. Is their another way to get my address bar in IE11 to search bing every time?
Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (from the DHCP server) for the network card. The following error occurred 0x79. Your computer will continue to try to obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.
I found lots about the autounattend.xml but nothing specific. How do I add a KMS Server address to my ISO/install? The goal being I do not have to CMD as Admin after every install and slmgr etc.
I am a long time user of XP and in the past year have taken the plunge into 8. Whenever I delete a folder in XP, if that folder is open in an explorer window, the window automatically closes. When I delete a folder that has a window open in 8, the window simply navigates to the default explorer location. When I an doing folder maintenance, I am basically ending up with a whole bunch of open windows.
Any setting I can change to make the window of a deleted folder close automatically?
I have Windows 8.1. I also use Start8 so my desktop looks like Windows 7. When I try and clean up the start menu, by deleting short cuts of programs I don't use, like metro apps (PC Settings & Store) once I delete these short cuts I can no longer access PC settings or Store. When I click PC settings in the Metro Menu it does nothing. Same with Store app. If I restore the deleted short cuts to these programs it works again. I've tried to hide these programs from the start menu but that option to hide is greyed out.
A; Hide these apps from the start menu without deleting them.
B. Delete them from the start menu but have them still work in the Metro Menu.
I recently opened a USB drive on my PC and noticed that the drive says to have 0 bytes of space left and the file is read-only. I cannot delete it or format the drive. I have even tried taking ownership of the file through an elevated command prompt where I was faced with the error: "File ownership cannot be applied on insecure file systems; there is no support for ACL's."
I downloaded a CD ripper the other day called EZ CD. I want to uninstall it but am running into problems everywhere I turn.
When I try to uninstall from Control Panel I get a message that says ezcd64.dll is in use. According to Task Manager, it is not. I tried opening the program and Xing out of it (there are no menu choices to close or exit) but I still get the same error. There isn't an option to uninstall from the Programs list in Classic Shell. When I go to the metro screen (or whatever it's called now), I get an undelete option but it just opens the Control Panel and I get the same error message.
I tried going to C: Program Files (it is in there, not Program Files (x86)). There is an uninstall.exe file but when I launch it, I get this message: Invalid start mode archive file name.
I read somewhere where I should try to close anything running in the background in Task Manager that the CD software might be using. I can't even begin to figure out what those might be and know just enough about computers to be dangerous. I tried closing iTunes which wasn't open but some piece of it was running. That's about as brave as I got and when I tried uninstalling from Control Panel after stopping that, I got the same error.
I recently had both the guest and the built-in "Administrator" account enabled, but just today I decided to turn them off. Now there are two folders in C:Users (Guest and Administrator), and I was wondering if I can delete them. I probably will use neither ever again, but I do not want to mess up anything. I just wanted to get rid of some space.
I have so many in there that are listed from software i tried out and no longer use but the name is still listed there that i do not want listed. Is there a way to delete them for good?
The mother in law has a windows 8 laptop and at the moment it keeps deleting files (ie: my documents, my pictures) and the start menu icons like it is refreshing the profile.
When I complete a restore it goes back to normals okay, then a couple of days later we are back to square one.
I've made my integration which pre-enables the .netframework 3.5 into my .wim images, my AIO includes w8, w8 pro, w8 pro WMC and w8 Enterprise for both architectures, now I'm facing the problem that the iso exceeds the weight by 22 MB, so I'm forced to use a dvd9, now that the feature is preinstaled into de the win images I think that I can reduce the space by deleting the .net framework files for 3.5 in the sxs folder but exactly which files do I have to delete?
I have Windows 8 which I have been using for 4 months now with little problem.
Last night I noticed the internet address bar does not have previously typed urls there no more, all it has is the start page url. So, when you click on the down arrow at the far right of the screen to select your previously entered address like say google.com, it shows nothing. So now every time I wish to visit a previously viewed page, I have to type in the url.
So I just got my new Windows 8.1 computer. From the Start screen there is an app called simply People. It was great grabbing my address book from various Hotmail accounts and even connecting to Facebook. A couple of questions: How do I Back this up or Print it out? Also I use my Microsoft Fax program to fax documents but it will not recognize this as my address book.
