Windows 8 - Add Email Account Message When Typing In Document Or Browser
Mar 21, 2014
I am using windows 8 and when i am typing in a doc or browser or where ever a window keeps popping up asking me to add an email accounts. How do I stop this from happening?
I recently encountered a problem where my browsers (IE and Firefox) and email stopped working. I know I have an internet connection - I can ping Google for example. And I have other laptops that are working fine. The weird thing is when I reboot I can sometimes use the browser or email but after a couple of minutes it stops again (stuck in waiting for google.com). This has been going on for a week now. I tried restoring from earlier but still doesn't work. I've tried resetting DNS and WINSOCK and TCP - makes no difference. I'm running Norton and Malwarebytes.
I am using Incredimail, but when I click on any links in received emails they no longer open up Internet Explorer 11. Nothing happens at all.
I have not made any changes recently, and up to a couple of weeks ago they worked okay. I have run virus and spyware checks and tried system restore, but no joy.
Uninstalled and reinstalled Incredimail, but no joy. Made sure file associations are set to open IE11, still no joy.
can't send or receive anything. used to get plenty, now nothing. where do I go in this machine to look to see if something is wrong there? using outlook express
For some reason or other I can no longer access my email account Outlook.com (known formerly as Hotmail.com) when using the Internet Explorer10 browser, it will not go to the sign in window, although I can access the account by using the "InPrivate Browsing" option in IE10.
Not a huge problem as I can and do use another browser most of the time. I am curious as to why this has occurred more than anything?
I am trying to add several email accounts to 'Mail' in Windows 8. So far I have successfully added Hotmail, and BT mail. I am now trying to add my 2 Virginmedia NTL accounts using the imap settings shown on the Virginmedia support site but neither of them install correctly...though they do work. The problem is the Folders list on the left hand side shows only Inbox, Flagged, Outbox and then for some very strange reason it lists (Gmail) Folders...see attachment Ntl account.doc.
I have tried deleting these folders but they come back after a few seconds. I have also noticed that 'Mail' must keep details of additional accounts hidden away somewhere as whichever NTL account I create it always uses the first account name I ever entered...'Ntlworld' which was a typo...and all subsequent attempts to create this account have been spelt correctly.
I am getting a Windows 8 tablet and want to set up Gmail on the Windows 8 mail app. I don't have a Microsoft account.
Should I sign up for a MS account using a Hotmail address, or using my Gmail address? What is the advantage in using a Hotmail address in order to access my Gmail. What are the pros & cons?
I'd like to be able to view/send email but not download it onto my tablet, as I use Live Mail on my main PC and want all my downloaded email on that computer.
I don't have a Microsoft account, I don't want one. My Windows 8 E-Mail address is for the E-Mail account on the family webserver, and yet when I get the confirmation E-Mail, it links me to a hotmail/outlook login page.
Hotmail/outlook can't process my Windows 8 E-Mail account, how do I get past this aggravating obstacle?
I've installed Windows 8.1 Home Premium on my parents laptop and I'm now trying to set up their email account.
It is a non MS account which Windows 8 doesn't seem to allow me to create. I've searched for a solution but they seem to require the Local Group policy to be edited and as far I've researched home premium doesn't include the management function to do so.
Does this mean if you are using Windows 8.1 Home Premium you are tied to using a MS mail account.
I had a new Windows 8.1 Pro system installed. Was able to logon to it with no problem. The computer name was OWNER. Changed it to what my previous computer was named. Now during startup the Admin logon gives the following message:
The user name or password is incorrect. Try again.
When I click on 'OK' I'm presented with a signon screen with Admin as the user name. No password that I enter works. When I lookup the signon accounts Admin is NOT one of them.
Listed the user accounts and found the following item for Admin:
I'm wanting to change the email address I use to log on to my system. Is there an easy way to do this or do I need to back up all my files and move them over to a new account?
I have a new ASUS notebook and it uses Windows 8. On my home pc I have Windows Vista and was able to set up multiply email accounts in Window Live Mail. (my charter, my hubby charter, 2 school google accounts and yahoo).
I was able to read mail coming thru our main email acct (my charter), if an email came thru that needed to go to my hubbys account or another account I was able to drop and drag it to the other account listed on the screen.
I have most of my emails set up on my new ASUS notebook. Is there any way to drop and drag emails from one account to another? I can drag the email and hover over the new email account, but it does not drag it.
Just updated my desktop and it came installed with Windows 8.1. Previously used Vista & XP. Thought I had set up user accounts etc correctly. Have a Hotmail and talktalk account supposedly installed but now my talktalk email looks totally different from Vista and will receive but will not reply or send. I log into it through 'google/talktalkmail otherwise using the mail icon it opens just like Hotmail and I have only my limited hotmail contacts. Where to access various settings etc. I do not have a 'start button' ...
I can't seem to get the metro email app to remember the account that I want to send email from on default. I have a Gmail account and two Exchange accounts. Seems like any time another app or web site wants to send an email there is no logic as to what account it sends from.
HP laptop with Windows 8.1 updated. I want to change my log in email and still keep everything I have in that account. Setting up an alias starts a new account and I would have to reinstall everything I already have installed. Is it possible to do to just change the email addie and keep everything?
The Win 8.1 Mail app is showing two 'Junk' folders for my 'live.com' email accounts. One contains my junk mail, but clicking the extra folder just displays the 'busy' spinning icon and never opens the folder. How can I delete the extra folder? Opening my accounts with Outlook.com only has one junk folder. This problem showed up with the latest Windows 8.1 Update.
A few days ago I went to Outlook.Com and established an email account. Now I want to delete that account and remove all things associated with Outlook.com but still retain my Microsoft Account. It might come in handy for getting Apps and other things from the Microsoft Store.
I tried to remove the Outlook.com email account using the instruction I found in How To Close & Delete Outlook.com Account I was unable to do so. When I got to the Close Microsoft Account section and pressed OK, it reminded me I needed to close any paid services associated with my Microsoft Account. I've no such services. Pressing OK again took me to the Account Summary page. There I could find no way to close the Outlook.com email account, just another Close Account that took me back to the previous step.
I have just brought over my Gmail account into my Outlook.com account. I can now send or receive GMail using the Outlook.com web interface. Is there a way I can create seperate Signatures for each email account (@outlook.com and @gmail.com)?
I changed my new HP laptop to windows 8 yesterday. love the OS except when i try to type. the cursor moves all over the place, stalls and sometimes even disappear. this didnt happen with windows 7 at all. i know there is a touchpad issue. i have disabled the touchpad (i use a wireless use) and it came back on. i then removed the driver for the touchpad and it still works. i have resorted to downloading a program that "locks" the touchpad when the keyboard is used and none of these have worked. four times while writing this i have had keyboard issues.
I've recently made a Windows 8 and a Windows 8.1 installation disc from the ISO images on MSDN. Each image includes Core/Core VL and Pro/Pro VL, 32 and 64 bit editions of each. I have the installation keys for all of these installations, but I don't want to have to type an installation key every time I go to use this disc. I've tried adding an installation key using WinReducer8 (which I do not recommend), but it only adds one key, which means I cannot choose which edition I want to install.
When I made my AIO Windows 7 ISO, I had no issues, as Windows 7 doesn't force you to add an installation or product key; you select your desired edition and you're good to go. Attached Image 1 shows what I'm referring to.
Now, however, Windows 8 has to choose your edition by the product key you enter (well played, Microsoft), and I want to find a way around this.
All instructions for adding an e-mail account to the mail app, say to go to Settings and click on accounts. When I click on Settings all I get is Change PC Settings, and there is no account option there.
Ok I have a Alienware M17XR2 laptop. I just installed windows 8.1 from a formatted start. Got most of the drivers functioning. I have an unknown device which I will address in another thread. Anyway my keyboard lags sometimes while I am typing fast. Never did that on my Windows 7. I'm running 64 bit as well.
My login service is locked up, keeping me from getting into either of my profiles, and I'm in the process of using User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. - Windows 7
But, because Windows 8 must have a safe mode set up, I have to do other things first. Now that I've got to using the command prompt to add the safe mode, the P key is constantly being pressed, making it nearly impossible to type anything accurately. It would take countless hours to type things right or cause more problems if I go on with it.
I have not Office Tools (Words, PPT......)Before I used a free document Template given by Microsoft that I do not find anymore. How can I create a document in Windows 8 ?
I am having trouble with moving my cursor. When ever I hold down any key, I cannot move my cursor around on the desktop, but I can move it if I hold down the CTRL key. I have a Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad and a Standard PS/2 Keyboard, & I have a Windows 8.1 HP Laptop. I also had a similar problem like this before, but instead of not being able to move my cursor, I was unable to click. However, I am able to click while typing, but cannot move the cursor. I am not sure when the problem occurred or how it happened.
I find when I press the Windows key, or open the Start Screen and start typing, nothing happens. Usually the sidebar opens with search results, but recently it has stopped working completely. Also, the search charm on the sidebar, and the search button on the Windows 8.1 (update) Start Screen do not work either--when I press them, nothing happens.
At first I thought it was a Windows Search service that had stopped working, so I restarted them, but the problem persisted.
I want to remove dell touchpad permanently from my inspiron 17r 5721 OS: windows8
The darn thing jumps all over while typing and it has made me not even want to use my computer it is so obnoxious. It deletes my typed info and opens windows ...
I tried to remove and uninstall but it just keeps putting it back on and refuses to stay closed. I have tried to reduce sensitivity and do everything recommended to resolve this by adjusting through the driver / device manager/ etc.... right now I have it fully uninstalled and it is still running! what the heck can i do?
