8.1 - How To Change Font Size In Metro UI Tiles
Jul 10, 2014Now i'm using windows 8.1 with 10'inch monitor
monitor is small, but it supports 2560 * 1256 resolution resolution is too high on my small monitor, so every text and pictures are too small on my windows
i already using my windows with scaling up icons, texts, by changing registry values.
but still, texts and tiles on metro UI is not changed, it still is in small size.
To make these tile's font size bigger, what can i do?

Sudden Change In Font And Fade For Metro Is Gone
May 27, 2014my Skyrim just suddenly froze, and in a panic, I started to press alt F4 a lot, then I gave up, so I just signed out, but then when I signed back in, the text was white and there's no more fade in and out for metro and applications when I minimize/maximize them.

Apr 18, 2013Big drawback with the Metro version of IE is that it doesn't seem possible to change the text size -- on a large monitor using the "Normal" version -- the desktop version of IE I can change the text size at will and zoom the image which I usually have at 150%.
The text size on the Metro version is FAR FAR too small for me on a large monitor -- can see myself needing a "White Stick" if I had to carry on reading like that for too long.
This whole idea of rigid window sizes where you can't zoom seems ridiculous.
Note here -- It MIGHT work on a TOUCH screen by pinching the sides but
1) can't test it as I don't have (or want) a touch screen when I'm working at a Desk.
2) The last thing I want to do is leave smeary finger marks over my nice expensive large LCD screen
3) even if it had touch - I'm sitting far too far away from it to make this a practical method of working to alter text and zoom etc.
(On a Samsung smart phone I don't have problems with text size by pinching the screen - but I'm NOT working on a PHONE when I'm at my desk with a nice large screen).

Bigger Font Size For Start Menu Items?
Nov 18, 2013I have increased my DPI to 250% to be able to read stuff in Windows without getting headache. Is there a way of increasing font size of start menu items as well?
And what about text size of items when alt tabbing, text size of charms bar (win+C) and text size of settings (win+i).
It seems to me that instead of improving the good old features of the older versions, Microsoft suddenly decided to replace them with lots of crap instead, not taking into account that there are people out there who don't have the eagle eye vision.
Windows 8.1 - System Font Size Decreased After Update
Aug 14, 2014My system font size in Windows 8.1 decreased after the update. I had to go into Display settings and manually increase the size of the font in each category from 9 to 10.
Unfortunately, I don't know what the default size was before. I just know that after the update my system fonts appeared visibly smaller.

Mar 6, 2014I have looked through the forum for tips on my minor problem and I hope I can explain what is happening. Whenever or whatever web page I am viewing and I slide the 'touchpad' mouse pointer/cursor across the page the font sometimes increases or decreases in size, i,e, from 100% to 105% or 150% or 50%. I think I am putting too much force onto the touchpad.
My question is:- is there an easy way to stop the font from changing? apart from being more gentle on the touchpad.

Aug 7, 2013Can I change hardware and improve font rendering in Windows 8?
Text on Windows 8 looks pretty awful on my hardware. I'm using an Nvidia 550ti card and a Dell U2410 monitor. Text, in browsers and in the Windows GUI, is spindly, pixellated, and headache-inducing. Evidence? Look at msn.com in IE10 and then look at it on a Mac, or boot a live Ubuntu DVD and take a look.
So... I see frequent assertions that my 24-inch 1920x1200 monitor lacks the DPI to render fonts correctly in Windows (it's 96 DPI). I also see frequent assertions that I need to use a different video card.
I'd buy new hardware in a flash if I knew it would solve this problem.
Would a new monitor and/or a new video card improve the looks of text in Windows 8?
Should I maybe look for a 15-inch FHD laptop that crams a lot of pixels into a small space?

Jun 22, 2014I actually have no problem with the Win 8.1 Start menu, but the colors of the regular desktop environment are killing me. Namely, the weird, off-off white of the menus. The High-Contrast White option under Personalization gives me the right color for the menu backgrounds but everything else about the theme screams windows 3.1, so I'd rather not resort to using that.
Is there maybe a registry tweak that I can use to change this one little color? I've tried a few things but nothing so far has worked.

Oct 6, 2013As a Multi-Monitor user I'm currently plagues with 3 Problems concerning the Metro Style OnScreenKeyboard.
1. For most of the time it appears on the wrong Monitor - Not the one with touch capability thus forcing me to manually move it over to the right screen which, at best, is annoying.
It appears it's kind of bound to where the Start Screen currently resides but it would be a lot more useful if it could be tied to one screen.
2. On 2 of my Screens it takes up about - the screen space limiting their usefulness while on my other 2 about - which is more desireable - what triggers this behavior and how can I control it?
3. Is there an option to force the OSK to keep the last setting of which Keyboard I've used? It keeps reverting to the simple one when I'd like to use the Advanced one.
Display Setting Change The Size Of All Items Menu?
May 7, 2013i got a surface pro and i hooked it up to my dell u2311hm monitor. Now when its not hooked up, i like to have the display setting size to Medium - 125% or Large - 150% (default) but once i hook my mini display in, the dell u2311 looks like ass at Large. so i gotta bring it down to Small - 100%. Is it possible to have different settings for different display.
