When I have a powered usb hub connected, my windows 8 will not start. The same usb hub connected to xp or to windows 7 does not cause problems. But it does in windows 8. So I need to disconnect that hub and start windows 8 without it and connect it after windows 8 has booted. Said hub has two drives attached: 1 32GB and a 1 TB. How come Windows 8 cannot handle it?
View 5 RepliesWhen I connect my DualShock 3 controller to my Windows 8.1 laptop it does not charge. I hear a beep, as in something was connected to the PC, then it seems to charge for a couple of seconds (lights flash on the controller) and then it stops. I am able to charge my phone and tablet so, it's just the DS3. It works fine on my Windows 7 computer, so it's not the controller.

I reflowed the gpu and removed some viruses but now every time I restart the pc I get this message which I can fix with the installation media. But every time i fix it, once I turn the computer off again after using it normally for whatever amount of time, when I turn it on again, i get the blue screen again. What's causing it to happen every time?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe issue is finding the file location for my flash drive. My computer only has 3 external USB ports. I have tried all of them, when the flash drive is plugged in somewhere on my computer it should indicate another drive location. I can't find anything....not sure where to look or if I'm looking in the right place. All that shows is c: drive & E: drive. The E: drive is exclusive for the OS system restore (can't be used; not accessible for anything else). The only other is the DVD drive. Nowhere can I find evidence of the flash drive plugged into the USB.
I have all the essential drivers & everything is up to date [I have a task scheduler & Driver updater software installed. All drivers are up to date. This is a new computer, only 2 months old].
I have gone into device manager & checked all the USB & composite serial bus controllers to make sure they are powered on (my computer has an energy saving management thing & it will possibly deactivate the hubs when not in use). According to the power management settings they are not set to "sleep" but all ports are active. I can't figure out why I can't find my drive, nothing is appearing when I have the flash drive plugged in.
Any way to auto disable the touch pad when an usb mouse connected to the machine? and auto enable it again once the usb mouse is unplugged?
View 1 Replies View Related I connected a hard drive to my PC. I was able to read/write to it just fine. In fact, I've used it various times in the past. I just tried connecting it again now, and the drive is not showing up on Windows 8.1 at all. It's not being detected.
I connected the drive to a Mac to see if it was the drive, but it wasn't: the Mac was able to read it just fine.
I've had a similar situation in the past with this machine, where my iPhone was, seemingly out of nowhere, no longer recognized by the system. Plugging it in would register on the phone, but the PC wouldn't acknowledge its existence.
I'm completely at a loss as to why this can be. Other drives connect to the PC just fine (in fact, I have another one connected now, as I write this, backing up some data).
I just bought a brand new computer and i am having trouble getting it to STAY connected to the wifi. It has windows 8 which i am not to keen on, and also know veery little about. It connects fine but after anywhere from 5-30 minutes it will go to limited connectivity. After this i disconnect from the wifi network and reconnect and the process starts all over again. I have tried many things in the cmd prompt as those have solved others with this or similar problems but to no avail. Also i changed the power settings not not allow the adapter to turn off. i am starting online college in 5 days and i need a reliable internet connection.

Windows 8 appears to work fine.HOWEVER, when both drives r connected to the system at the same time and I try to boot Windows 8 the W7 drive gets corrupted such that the next time W7 is booted it must run CHKDSK.I did this on both a laptop and a desktop and get the same results.

So far I have noticed that if you leave the computer off for a while or change the hard drive to a different sata port it will work fine for a while then do the same thing.
Also I have done a full clean install with windows 8 and the same issue has occured a couple of days later.
I have a feeling its the hard drive going bad but how can i be sure? Some hard drive utilities have reported "end to end error - fail" but others have said there is no issues.
My computer was beeping on start up and would start beeping randomly while the computer was on.Sometimes it would beep non-stop and I would have to disable the internal speaker. I updated the bios and that fixed the problem, but my webcam driver and internal mic driver isn't working anymore.

Since I installed W8 64x my networks drivers won't start at boot, therefore I have to disable the drivers via Device Manager and re-enable them in order to work. (see attachment for the only error I get - I don't know whether there is a log in another place?)

We are going to be deploying Windows 8 company-wide once we get little issues such as this sorted out. I'm curious whether something changed that might need to be implemented with our group policy. We did not have an issue with this before so it's definitely specific to OS.

The DVD/CD Drive will not auto start any discs, DVD or CD. I have set the auto start at "on" and in the control panel I have it checked to auto play all media. It still does not auto start when I insert a cd or dvd. I can however, manually see the files and play a music CD.

Im using a hp envy dv7 laptop which was bought new. The wireless shows connected however webpages will not load.
I have plugged in a Ethernet cable and the everything works fine.
I am running Windows 8 on an Asus laptop. Two days ago it was doing updates and restarting. It did this 3 times, and on the third restart I received the blue error screen. It stated
"Recovery. Your pc needs to be repaired. A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed. Error code: 0xc0000225
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media [like a disc or usb device] contact your system administrator or Pc manufacturer."
It gives me three options at the bottom [press enter to try again, press f8 for startup settings, press esc for uefi firmware settings]. If I press enter I get the same screen just with a bit more text. f8 does nothing. Uefi takes me to the boot menu. I have been trying to boot from a dvd r with a flash operating system in order to recover my data before it is reformatted. However, it does not seem to recognize the disc. When I select to boot from dvd rom, it tries, then on the black screen appears text saying restart and select boot device or install boot media and press a key. I tried taking disc out and putting bavk in, then pressing a key, nothing, same message.
I'm have a problem with a high definition audio device, it says This device cannot start. (Code 10). I have tried updating the driver and deleting and reinstalling the device, nothing has worked.
I can hear sound, but I can not record anything. I have tried several recording devices, like Audacity and MS Recorder and nothing works.

I run Windows 8, 64 bit. The computer is only six months old.

Why Windows 8.1 is giving me so many issues. My laptop is unable to stay connected to the wifi for long and sometimes I am unable to connect. It was running all good but suddenly Today morning when I pressed the power button and it boot through the Dell splash screen and after that It booted normal through the Windows 8 boot screen but after that It stucked at a Black Screen.
I passed on 20-min but it stucked there. No Cursor, nothing except The Black Screen. I ran Dell Pre-Boot System Assesment to check any Hardware failware but no everything is just fine. I remember That My Dell Driver Update Utility Notified me that it installed latest Intel Rapid Start Technology Driver on my last boot but I dont know whether its causing the error but The Intel Rapid Start Technology is very essential for SSD users so why will it cause errors?

Also when doing an ipconfig /all it says that the DNS Server is 127.0.0.1 and there are no DNS Servers on the device. What could have happened is that along time ago there was a DC named exactly like my new device.
I renamed the device and still I am experiencing the same issues.
Another weird thing is that I can browse the internet easily but then when for example I go and log in to Skydrive it says that I do not have an internet connection.
I have a Blackberry Z10 and Blackberry Link installed on my laptop. When I connect my phone to the laptop, after a couple of minutes it just crashes and a blue screen appears saying " your system has ran into some trouble, please search through the internet for information about DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION".
This has happened like half a dozen times within an hour, with the phone connected. Once removed, it's alright.
