View 9 RepliesAsus Vivobook. It was running fine last night, but today it was a bit slow to respond. I eventually restarted it and it told me I have disk problems. Now I'm stuck on a black screen with the Asus logo that reads "Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete."
It's been this way for multiple hours now. I'm going to leave it overnight and hope it repairs, but, if it doesn't, is there anyway to recover my files? I have some important stuff backed up online, but I haven't backed up in a bit over a month and I don't want to lose my files. Most forums tell me to reinstall Windows 8? Would that make me lose my files, though, and how can I do that if I can't get past this error page?
My Samsung Netbook has developed the below glitch in the screen ever since it fell off:-
Is that some problem with the display device gone loose or something?
I took a snapshot via PrtScn of the Netbook and viewed it in my desktop, it was clean without the spots as seen in the above image. Does that imply it's a issue with the Netbook screen?
Is there any software to check if the devices in the Netbook are still functioning properly or not? In case there is no single software to achieve that, you can suggest me individual software say to check graphics device, hard drive etc.
I'm running Windows 8. 3 days ago my computer crashed coming up with a message that it needed to restart. It then came up with a message "Repairing disk errors. This may take over an hour", and continued to display that message for 3 days straight. Now it has gone to a Boot Menu. The menu displays two tabs Boot Menu/App Menu, with the options under Boot Menu
1. Windows Boot Manager
2. SATA HDD: Hitachi
I selected Windows boot manager, and the screen went black for a few seconds then went back to the same menu. What has happened and how do I get back to Windows??
I was running my pc with Windows 8.0 Pro 64 bit and I now getting a screen with the Windows logo and I am now getting a message "Diagnosing PC & Auto repairing disk errors may take several hours".
It has been like that for a couple of hours.
How long I should leave it running or perhaps I should do a fresh reinstall of Windows, I have the Microsoft DVDs?

I get a "not dirty" on all my Hard drives, why does Action Centre want to check so often, I cannot find any task in Task Scheduler related to this.
"Restart to repair drive errors" keep showing up after reboot !!

Win 8x64 desktop, two printers (Brother, Canon) connected with USB cables, no network, not part of home group. Both print ok.
I just did an in-place Win 8 repair, followed by adding the updates. Since the first set of updates, there have been eight PrintService errors (215) in Admin Events at startup.
Here are some examples and screenshots:

Attempted to install my 2002 XP Standard for Students and Teachers on my new Netbook. (It's an Office program.) I had already installed it on my Vista Desktop and my laptop Win 7 with no issues at all.
When I try to install it on my Netbook, I continue to get an error message about the - Err 25003Installation Source has been corrupted.
I've googled this error and there are plenty. But nothing works and I can NOT get this program installed.
My friend's sister installed Windows 8 twice, and it installed successfully both times. When I start the Netbook it gives me an option to choose between one of the two installs. I'd like to delete one of the installations but I'm not sure how to do so.
View 4 Replies View Relatedit installs without a hitch, comes up, runs fine ... just don't try running any Metro apps because most of them won't work - the screen resolution I have is something like 1024 x 600 (fine for this device) but that's too small for most apps. The desktop is fine but virtually nothing else can be run outside that.
I like my little netbook but Windows 8 doesn't. I made an image of that drive becuase I'll be restoring that soon.
Upgrading Netbook, with an SSD, so naturally I made sure I let him know beforehand that an SSD was not going to perform as advertised on his Netbook given that it only has a SATA 2 (3Gb/s) interface and a pretty low end Intel Atom based CPU.
The SSD is a Crucial MX100 128GB.
So... Is there a software I need to be running in order to get the most out of Crucial SSD's?, I'm running a Plextor SSD on my main gaming rig and it runs absolutely beastly without any software, etc.
I made sure I changed the SATA Mode to ACHI before installing Windows 8.1.
Also, I did not install any Intel Chipset drivers or anything on the Netbook given how old it is, Windows should have the latest drivers for it (I did run Windows Update).
I have a wireless keyboard and mouse (combo) plugged into my netbook (acer aspire one 522) and can't get the netbook to wake from sleep mode with either of them when the lid is closed (i always keep it closed other than this for this workaround).
I had set the power options to 'do nothing' when the lid is closed (only for when it's plugged in), and when i try to wake from sleep, the power and WLAN lights on the netbook flash whenever i move the mouse or press keys but nothing else. i have to open the lid, then press a key to wake from sleep, then i close the lid again. i checked Power Management settings for both keyboard and mouse and they both have the check box ticked for 'Allow this device to wake the computer'.
Totally new to W8, why I cannot simply transfer video from my W7 Samsung laptop to my W8 HP Touchscreen 11.6 netbook? Picture, docs, all okay, but with video it will transfer the sound but not the picture.

yesterday i tried to install a free copy of camtasia 8 the video showed a way so i can register the program free the way suggested was to go to c:/windows/system32/drivers/ect/ then try to change the security properties of the host file and add a states called everyone but isn't work for me so i canceled it, then i get a free user name and serial number from friend and register the program and working properly. I restart may computer lately and its not working , its keep restating i tried refreshing the system but its said my c partition is locked i tried restoring it using troubleshooter but it's not restoring it and tell that no restore point when try to make a one the system response is "system protection is available only in online operating system. auto recovery not working too .
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince yesterday everytime I shutdown or reset my laptop(Dell XPS15) it eithewr gets stuck on the restart screen forever or just goes to blanck screen with the power still on if I shutdown. So then I have to hold the power button down to switch off in both casesI stupidly don't have any recovery option inplace and when I try and do a fresh reset or anything from Advanced system options it gets stuck on a blank screen because it can't reset properly.Also anytime I try and disable or uninstall drivers in device manager it will constantly say it's uninstalling or will go to not responding.

So when I bring my computer out of standby I hear it turn on but then it reset when the monitors don't come on.
Occasionally this happens when i turn on the computer or just return to it and the monitors shut off.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to retrieve a couple legacy files that are on a 1.44 disk. I bought a USB 1.44 drive, but win 8.1 doesn't see it in Win explorer; when I went the "find new devices" route (in Devices), it didn't see the Usb 1.44.
I went into bios and enabled some sort of "recognize legacy usb", but that had no effect.
How do I get this thing recognized and installed - it didn't come with any drivers.
Windows 8 x64 explorer keeps crashing and restarting randomly when trying to copy/paste, use context menus, right click options on folders and etc.

I tried using shexview-x64 and disabling custom options from shell integration, but didn't work.
I'm running on a Windows 8.1 OS, and recently it keeps getting BSODs before starting up/restarting, but it still manages to get into Windows, and it seems to run normally after that. The error message is something like PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (rtwlane.sys). I have uploaded a minidump file of the most recent BSOD on my OneDrive here.

-Restarting the computer takes about 5 mins
-One of my two printers doesn't work
-Internet explorer 11 is constantly freezing, then stopping responding, then quitting and re-starting
Everything works OK but am wondering if all the various hacks I've done (Aero Glass, Start8 etc. etc.) are affecting it somehow. This normally wouldn't worry me too much but when installing Windows Updates normally one would see that shutdown message about 'installing updates xx%' and again at startup. After the word restarting (or shutting down) appears for a split second it's black screen throughout that process as if my graphics card is cut off before anything else, which I find odd.
Could of course be the fault of nVidia's latest driver I suppose. (314.22 WHQL). It isn't the video driver, rolled it back and still the same.
i accidentally disabled my disk drive and i cant re-enable it again here's a picture for the propertes and i cant find the enable box !

So I've been playing around with FreeNAS on another rig, you install the server on a USB drive and run the server form the flash drive. I've decided to go another rout and not use free nas so I went to format the 2 flash drives I was messing with and there are some partitions I can't remove with disk management, and space missing.

Disk 3 should be 4GB large but I can only find the 943 MB

It doesn't give me any options to change the volumes on Disk 4.
my laptop is acer v5 471G he keep restarting when i try to shutdown it..
even when i do sleep, my laptop is not go to sleep mode.. but it restarting..
it looks like every switch in power is all becoming reboot not only that, sometimes when i doing my work.. my laptop restarting by its own and after i log in and come to start menu.. a blue screen appears and this i attached the file
