Hardware Drivers :: Lost Dolby Sound In Win 8?

My win 8 package comes stock with Dolby advanced audio. I uninstalled the IDT driver and its software from device manager to roll back to an earlier version to solve a problem.. that didnt work, so i reinstalled the original drivers and it's software as both downloaded from hHP ( see me specs) and the one I had backed up from the original install. It should not have touched the Dolby application at all but now i cant find it? I used to open it by typing in Dolby in the search but that now has no Dobly results. I tried a regedit search and It didnt even find Dolby.

I just totally lost the sound of my laptop running on Windows 8. It was okay yesterday and the only thing I did today was checked my email and noticed I kept getting full page of junk ads like your software is outdated, need to update whatever... etc. etc. I ran malwarebytes and avg and found nothing. I ran these also yesterday. Checked my connections ok, and volume not muted.... Where did the sound go? My laptop is only 6 months old.....

I have the laptop as stated above, i have had it a week and the user before me had decided to put on 7 instead of 8. i completely wiped and restored to windows 8.1, installed all sammy drivers and ensured it is all up to date.
the laptop had huge instability issues, the hdd was on its way out as mbr was damaged and the heads were ticking badly. then i found the ram was not secured in the sockets properly too. so i fixed it all!
Anyways back to the problem. i have the realtek hd audio drivers installed from sammy, reinstalled the ones from realtek themselves and still nothing.
Main issue, mic and speakers built in work and are fully detected. but the microphone port and headphone port are not detected, no matter what i plug into them.

I was trying to fix a problem, and then I removed some programs, and I think i accidentally removed a file that is needed for the dolby. Now I can't open it, and when I try it says that I could re-install it. But how?

I updated to 8.1 because supposedly, it was to offer features similar to win 7. Instead, it's even worse than win 8. Now, the sound quality on my laptop is lousy because the Dolby Audio driver receives an error message and isn't working. I went to Lenovo (I have a Ideapad N Series 580) and followed these instructions from Lenovo and microsoft, which unfortunately didn't work. I'm still getting the same error message. I wish I had never heard of windows 8.1! Many have had this same problem after installing 8.1. This instructions are from Answers.Microsoft, but didn't work.
Open Device Manager. (Right-click on the Start button and choose Device Manager).
Expand the Sound, Video and Games Controllers section.
Right Click on the Conexant Smart Audio HD item and choose Uninstall.
Still in Device Manager, click on Action>Scan for new Hardware.
The Conexant Smart Audio item will re-appear.
Right-Click on it and choose update driver.
Navigate to d:driversaudio.
When that's done, close Device Manager.
Open File Manager and navigate to D:driversAudioDolbyGUI and install Dolby Home Theater.
These instructions are from Lenovo and didn't work.

I have a laptop that came with W7 64bit. My headphone set worked fine - sound and mic. I upgraded to Windows 8, and now there's no sound or mic. I've followed various Windows 8 checklists but the system says everything is working. The same headset works fine on my WXP laptop.
I downloaded and installed Realtek High Definition Audio Driver for Windows 8 64bit. No change.

Few days ago I have installed Windows 8, but found that there is no sound, windows can't detect audio card. I tried to find audio drivers for my card, but they don't work in Windows 8. But when I was trying to fix sound problem, I found that there is no administrative tools.
When I press to "administrative tools" windows gives me an error: "C:userspublicглавное менюпрограммыadministrative tools refers to location that is unavailable..."
After that I tried to find directory myself, and found it in C:usersUserNameStart MenuProgramsAdministrative tools, but there is no any files. What to do now?

I'm getting this random clicking sound(more of a tick-tock-ish) that's coming from within my system. I'm not sure where but it's adequately loud for me to notice. It just goes 2 clicks(tick-1 tick-2) then goes away. It doesn't have a specific time frame, like it doesn't happen every how many minutes or so.
I actually wasn't worried until I've read some sites that it could be a start of a so to be hdd failure. If it is, is there any way I could fix it? Or at least how long do I have before it goes total bye-bye on me?

My work PC was dead. Not sure what happened, but after replacing the PSU it worked again.But I have two weird issues:
1. USB Ports: Plug and play doesn't work. If I connect a USB device in Windows, nothing happens. But if it's plugged before I boot, both the BIOS and Windows recognize it.
2. Internal Sound Card: It's enabled in the BIOS, it's recognized in Device Manager, but there's no sound. I've tried uninstalling and updating the drivers with no luck.
Specs:
OS: Windows 8.1 Core x86
Motherboard: Asus P5KPL-AM SE (latest BIOS)
PSU: Generic 500W (the old one was 450W, and everything worked fine).

I am being driven mad by the clicking sound every time I do a keystroke on my wireless keyboard, how do I turn it off? Have disabled windows sounds so none play. I have gone into typing in PC settings and the turn sounds off is not there.

I recently installed windows 8 on my MacBookPro with UEFI support, but I can't enable audio. I know that apple use BIOS emulation for windows and the assign different Hardware ID's for devices.
With BIOS emulation ID is:
HDAUDIOFUNC_01&VEN_1013&DEV_4206&SUBSYS_106B5300&REV_1003
Without emulation ID is:
PCIVEN_8086&DEV_1E20&SUBSYS_72708086&REV_04.
I tried changing inf file and it detected the required audio card driver, but it shows that device cannot start. It's Cirrus Audio CS4206B (AB83) sound card, but without emulation it shows it as intel audio card. It would be easier to get back to bootcamp, but I really want to make this work.

I downloaded and installed Windows 8 Pro several months ago (a year ago?). I used it for several months and was reasonably satisfied with it. But LogMeIn ws not compatible with Windows 8 at the time, so I uninstalled it and returned to Win7.
Since the time I uninstalled Windows 8, the external HD that the setup files were stored on crapped out and I lost everything on it. I do have the activation code. My question is whether or not I can re-acquire a genuine copy of Windows 8 without having to purchase another copy of Windows 8 Pro?

Long ago when using 7 early on I botched up trying to remove an Acer OEM partition to no avail only to be left missing roughly 65GBs of my hard drive and not being able to see the partition. Luckily I didn't destroy the HD!
I found a nice little free utility that Brink introduced here: Partition - Recover Deleted Partitions in Windows that I ran and it was able to see the partition. Not only that partition, but a bunch of smaller ones. I couldn't believe my eyes when I came to look at this after it was finished scanning!
Below is the results of the scan. The first one listed (no label) is my Windows 8 Pro partition. The one labled 8.1 is obviosly my 8.1 RP that I dual boot. The one with the checkmark with no label I'm guessing is the Acer partition. As you can see Windows Disk Management does not see any other partitions other than 8 and 8.1.
If at all possible, what do I need to do to correct this? I'd like not to touch my 8 partition because of Office, but I will if I need to. 8.1 is just a preview. What are all those smaller ones? What does overlapped mean?

I installed the windows 8.1 update thinking it would just upgrade the system but it looks as though it's done a reinstall. I've now got loads of things not working, my programs have lost lots of there settings and it seems really slow.
I'm currently restoring a true image back up and I'm praying it's going to work , I don't think I'll bother with 8.1 until I reinstall the system from scratch.

I got to the office yesterday and the PC, which I left running and working as usually, had in it's screen the common message saying the computer can't boot any device (strange since the computer was running and it's a message hat appears when booting). After trying to reboot it a couple of times, a message saying "...kernel... file is missing... try advance tools..." was shown. I tried to "refresh" the system.
Anyway, The thing is that after refreshing I have lost much more than the apps. The apps I can retrieve, It will take me half a day to retrieve almost all of the software, but doable. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE DATA??? I have two drivers on the PC, C: (software) and D: (data), and it looks as if my "D:" driver had been erased or something. I see it but I can't open it (properties say it's empty and before being opened has to be formatted). I don't get it....
Where is my data??? Whereis my driver?

I have searched and tried a few different things and the best I can find is to run a file recovery software which I'm hoping to avoid. I'm running Windows 8 off a Toshiba that so far I have loved but am quickly starting to regret switching to 8.

Last night I was shutting down my computer and it was updating it was saying do not shut off computer. Well my luck we lost power. Now this morning I can sign on no problem but then it going to a blank screen, the windows start app won't load. The only thing I can get to work is my task manager with control, alt, delete. Installed Windows 8 on my desktop. Bought another licence (download) for my wife's laptop. Everything went fine until I used netplwiz to change her to the administrator and only user. I thought that went ok but now she is the only user and I'm being prompted for a password everywhere which doesn't work. I can't even run a third party application from a thumb drive. I wouldn't mind reinstalling Windows 8 if that's the fix but I couldn't find the executable after it downloaded and installed. I probably wouldn't be able to execute it anyway without admin privileges. Tried to buy yet a third copy of Windows 8 to reinstall on the laptop and I couldn't even do that without admin privileges.
How to recover or reset the admin password or how to reinstall Windows 8?

I left my Dell Latitude 10 Tablet (Windows 8 x86) on the roof of my car ... and it wasn't there after returning from my short drive.
I know with Android you can remotely install applications and even out of the box you can just find the GPS location by going to the google play website.
Is there ANYTHING I can do now after the fact with Windows 8? Any way to remotely install, have microsoft track next time someone turns it on (since it's logged in via email address), or do anything?

Gradually getting my head around Windows 8 CP, however after a recent reboot the tile for "desktop" is now gone under metro.
how to restore? If I right click and browse all apps it isn't present.
Having navigated to "C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms" I can't see a desktop shortcut there but I'm fairly sure there was one before.
