I have question about asphalt 7. I have a windows 8 dell laptop, I downloaded Asphalt 7, and it runs awesome. the only problem is, I cant play "multiplayer" pop up says "disconnected" "no internet connection available" but that is not the case.

I'm not able to do anything within the game or its controls except I can close it. And I have to open the app again to play it. It has happened 4-5 times in the past.Bought this laptop 2 months back. It occurs with and without Microsoft Xbox 360 game controller for PC connected. No other issues with other system performance till now.

when launching the game on a fresh Windows 8 install, the Rockstar Social Club seems to think there's no internet connection, hence I can't activate and hence I cannot play the game. I tried to completely remove both AV and firewall but to no use. I also tried whatever tips google have to offer - nada works.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new Windows 8 Dell Inspirion laptop, and it has a horrible internet connection. I have not downloaded any new programs and I don't visit shady websites so I don't think it's a virus. Sometimes the internet is just moderately slow, and sometimes it just completely won't move, I will type in a web address and it will "think" about loading the page for 20 minutes before finally telling me it can't.
The problem is not with my wifi, I have another laptop that runs Windows 7 and have no issues with that one, or any other device on the network. It's just the windows 8 laptop.
I have Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160.
I tried updating the driver, but it tells me the driver is already up to date.
My old laptop was stolen, so I resorted to craigslist a new laptop. Fairly new laptop in good condition, w/ windows 8. I don't know if it's windows 8 or the laptop, but my old laptop got consistently 150.0 Mbps. This new laptop fluctuates between 90 & 120.0 Mbps.

Basically what happens is that every 5-20 minutes I cannot access the internet on browsers and the wifi connection is listed as "Limited".
The laptop: ASUS Vivobook S200E
The WiFi: Sky wireless router (no idea about model, it's almost two years old) But what I will say is that my Windows 7 laptop never skips a beat on this network, nor does my wife's Mac, nor do our 2 Android tablets, the iPad, the iPhone, the Android phone, and various devices that our friends connect when they come round. Literally no other device has any problems on this network, so I know (by the process of elimination) the Windows 8 laptop is the one with the problem.
In order to fix the issue I have to disconnect from the network, wait about 30 sec and reconnect again.
My new laptop will randomly disconnect from the internet but still remain connected to my wireless network. I've unchecked the box allowing the wireless card to be powered down, I've done ipconfig release and renew, and I've checked my drivers but none of it has fixed the issue.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter I installed VMware-player and VirtualBox, I started to get this error "The connection Was Reset" (got that on firefox, different name on Chrome since it has an error code, but leads to the same error).
Weird thing is that I can still explore some of the website that are open, for instance I leave a Facebook tab or Twitter tab, or any other site (not necessarily a social network). But if try to open a "new" site, which is not explored yet, then I get the error.
Things I tried so far:
1) delete cache, doesn't work at all.
2) Change the MTU Value, that was quite interesting, since I do get an error when i try to ping with my current value, but when i find a value that apparently should work, after I set that value as my MTU, I get the error with that value, so i go down a few numbers until i get a working value, set the MTU and error again. and so on.
3) Made a repair of my windows 8 install, preserving my personal files, but didn't work.
4) Only thing that seems to work is restart my pc.
I didn't have time yet to try to reinstall my antivirus (Avast) .
I have just added another Win 8 machine to stable for my wife. It is 'Modern' all the way -- no Start8 or Classic Shell.
I have Mahjong installed on my own older Windows 8 Desktop and when I installed it on the new machine I must have done something differently than the first for I often get a request to sign in to my Microsoft Account and the then tells me sometimes that I have games saved out on the cloud and some locally and then asks me which do I choose. To my knowledge I have never saved any game anywhere on either machine.
Did I perhaps specify cloud storage somewhere in the setup process. How may I correct this little bothersome thing.My wife just came in and said her new machine reports 'connection to Xbox lost' or something like that while playing Mahjong. What does that mean?
When I boot up I get the message asking if I want to pin internet explorer although it is already pinned on my start and desktop. Is there anyway to stop it appearing.

I was using Windows 8. My internet is "Radio" using a Bullet which is connected to my PC. So, I create a new Broadband connection (PPPOE) unde Windows. After creating it, I put the "service" and manually connected to the internet. But after restarting, and loggong into my account it shows me a windows where I had to put login and password, and I also marked "automatic connection when login, and worked fine.
After installing Windows 8.1 Preview it seems that it was removed. Because after creating a new connection and restarting my computer, there isn't any window anymore to create my automatic connection. I can connect only manually clicking on the Icon on tray.
I thought that this option of windows 8 would be back on final release, but it wasn't. How can I can configure my computer to connect automatically after login to my account, because I don't like to connect all the times manually.

I bought a desktop with windows 8 on it. Decided to put seven on it, found out the drivers didn't work. I am trying to go back to 8, but I cannot install 8 on 7 due to no internet connection (the product key won't activate as there is no connection). I cannot install Windows 8 from USB/dvd from the boot up. My computer doesn't let you select the DVD/USB option, even though I changed it in the bios where it would prioritize the USB/DVD before booting.
Anyways, is there away around this? I just want to get Windows 8 back up and running. : ( I have also bought a Windows 8 pro key a while back (for my own laptop, deactivated now). I really want to put it on my new computer...
As of now, I am stuck with Windows 7 with no internet connection. The farthest I can get to is entering the product key and the installation stops because I have no internet connection due to faulty drivers.
My laptop keeps losing internet connection. It appears to remain connected to the router but not have actual internet connection. I have pinged the router thousands of times and have no packet loss so I don't suspect that is the problem. I've tried the internet connection on a computer running Windows XP, one running Windows 7, and one running Mac OS X and none of them have trouble staying connected, so it appears to be a problem only with this laptop.

Long story short, my Apps are not connecting to the internet following some disastrous anti-virus faffing about. I've now removed Norton and AVG completely and have avast (but reading elsewhere here, I believe that I should probably get rid of that as well?).
Now, I've got to the point, through your very good forum, of understanding that I need to do this Run CMD 'Command Prompt' as administrator. In the command line type: netsh winsock reset Press enter then restart your PC, the problem solved. So I tried that, but it hasn't resolved the problem.
I have 8.1 up and running and I have got the desktop working closer to 7. almost dumped it from my laptop, but I am trying to hang in there.
a LITTLE issue I still have is the fact that the games that I can and have downloaded from the Windows store (Hearts, Solitaire, Spider etc. require an internet connection to actually enjoy them ( I could have missed something). As I spend 5 to 6 months cruising the USA in a Motorhome where internet access is poor or non-existent, I really miss the games that I had installed in Vista and 7. I went back to it yesterday (Sunday), and it says it will restart today.
I've been periodically checking it and I'm still getting the same message.
Is this normal? Can I override it somehow and get into my laptop??
Suddenly my toshiba windows 8 laptop was like corrupted and there is a message error came out like this 0xc000000e and I could not logon to my system already. I do not have a recovery disk with me and maybe there is any other way to restore my laptop.

The problem is always fixed after I run troubleshoot problems and is saying that the default Gateway is unavailable. My netword card might be the source of the problem even tough I updated the drivers. I'm not sure which one I have because drivers from Ralink and Qualcomm seem to be working both.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had my windows 8 laptop since January and have had absolutely no problems with it until now. i recently just took my laptop away on a holiday with me for a couple of weeks where i did not have any internet connection. The laptop was working fine and had no issues with playing a few games or watching movies etc. I just got home and started my laptop when i noticed no programs would open including (google chrome, internet explorer, various games and applications including the windows 8 menu screen programs).
However the only program that did open for me was files explorer. my first instinct was to restart my computer, so i did go to the settings button and selected restart. after waiting a couple minutes and not seeing and progress i held the power button in and then turned the computer back on. the same thing happened again and i again tried to restart my computer through the settings menu. however this time the restarting screen appeared, however after watching this screen for 20-30 minutes with no signs of updates or the like, i again held the button down to restart.
I did some googling and found users facing similar problems and mentioned about it all being involved with internet connection. i turned my internet off on the laptop and restarted the computer once more, when it came back on, all the programs worked as usual so i turned my internet back on, and as soon as i did, the computer refused to open any new programs. i went on my computer offline and deleted my newest programs and files i had installed the last time i had internet as well as running a full system scan on norton, norton could not detect any problems and the computer still refused to work online.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently updated from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 8.1 using Microsoft update. After the update was completed, I've started to have problems connecting to the internet using a wired connection. NOTHING else has changed since the update. If I reboot, it works for less than 30 minutes and then the connection switches to "limited connectivity" with no way to revert it back to the usual status. If I reboot the computer, it works fine again for a little bit. Oddly enough, if I connect the computer to the exact same router using wireless, it does not seem to be dropping the connection.
I'm using a Dell Studio XPS 8100 with the factory Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet adapter.
So far, I have: disabled, reenabled the device (PC seems to hang when I do this as well) reinstalled the drivers after removing them verified there is no proxy or weird DNS settings setup on the connection.
I just bought a new computer with windows 8.1, and can find no way to disable my internet connection. This is a home computer, and I don't need or want it on all the time. Is there a way to disable it short of disconnecting the Ethernet cord?

View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is basically a fresh install. I only really installed steam along with the drivers for my motherboard and gpu. It originally did it while on steam only but has since done it other places. Last night was particularly bad, as it would BSOD and then sit on a black screen while trying to load up. Turning it off and on eventually started it back up. Then it did a weird thing where it would keep rebooting itself. Eventually I shut it down for the night.

After the new windows 8.1 update (which inclided the home screen power off button) a net problem came out. In my wifi indication, it sais "limited", but when i enter the web, i can search in the internet without probs. When i go to net. and sharing center, i cant see any network. On my other laptop (win7) it shows the connection normally.
