Debugging :: BSOD After Sleep Mode - Constant Restarts After Hibernate

Whenever I put the screen down for the night, or after classes, when I open it up again, it informs me of an automatic restart due to a problem it has encountered with files in the Minidump folder and a Local sysdata.xml file. I have attached the file.

Debugging :: BSOD / Constant Restarts (Memtest Passed)

Nov 13, 2013

I've been facing constant problems with BSOD (Ntoskrnl.exe) today. It happened for the first time about a month ago when I tried to update Opera (12.16 -> 17.0) but after many, many restarts, trying to run Windows in a "Safe Mode", restoring recovery points finally Windows started to work. I haven't tried to update Opera since then.

Today... I don't know what happened because I went away of a computer ( it's possible ) for a few minutes and when I came back I saw BSOD with 'DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL' error. I tried to find a solution on the Internet but I still don't know what else to do.

When I run system in a Safe Mode with a 5th option (Safe mode with networking) everything works but when I try to run Windows normally - same situation as previously (reboot)...

I added dump file as an attachment (111313-10140-01.txt).

Please change the extension (txt -> dmp). I wasn't able to upload .dmp file to this forum. The second file (debuglog.txt) was created in a following way:

Type the following:
kd z C:Windowsmemory.dmp (or the path to your .dmp file)
Type the following:
.logopen c:debuglog.txt
Type the following:
.sympath srv*c:symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols
Type the following:
.reload;!analyze -v;r;kv;lmnt;.logclose;q

I found above-mentioned steps on Reading a memory.dmp or other .dmp file - Scott Forsyth's Blog The last but not least... About a month ago (when I had the same problems) I run Memtest for a whole night and it found no problems. I haven't tested other hardware yet.

Debugging :: BSOD When Coming Out Of Sleep / Hibernate After Upgrade To 8

Nov 5, 2013

I've been using Windows 7 on my laptop for over a year now with little to no problems, decide to finally take the dive into Windows 8. The installation runs smoothly, and everything seems perfect up until I tried to come out of sleep mode. Whenever I try to come out of either sleep or Hibernate it starts to awaken then I get the BSOD, stating "Your PC ran into a problem it couldn't handle, and now it needs to restart " ...

After following the instructions to search "Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error", and finding answers that didn't work for me, I'm here now, months later, sad, tired and in need of this being fixed ....

Switched to Windows 8 (then to 8.1) from 7, BSOD when coming out of sleep/hibernate.

I first noticed them when installing/updating Star Wars: TOR, but have since had it happen when trying to update other games too.Had few in the past (only owned laptop for roughly 2 months) but seems to be increasing in frequency. Thought they may be tied to when it tries to sleep, but disabled it going to sleep in the power settings and it still BSOD.

Dell :: Inspiron 17R Laptop Doesn't Hibernate After Sleep Mode

Mar 29, 2013

I have an Insipron 17R, core i5 zm2410, NVIDIA Geforce 525m, win8 64bit and I'm experiencing a problem with the hibernation/sleep mode.

About 2 weeks ago my laptop went to hibernation mode after beeing in sleep mode for 2 hours while on battery (to advoid full battery drain).

Now it doesn't do it anymore but stays in sleep mode for the whole time and drains the battery.

I usually detach the power cable from the laptop over night because of the noise from the power adapter and the laptop always hibernated after beeing in sleep mode. I went over the configuration in power options and power plans, and even reseted and configured them again, without success.

The only changes that were made to the system are the important windows updates...

Debugging :: BSOD Returning From Sleep Mode - Error 0x000000c1

Sep 15, 2014

I've been working with a computer I've put together for a couple of months now, and I haven't been able to figure out what exactly is causing various BSODs. They mostly happen when coming out of sleep mode. The crashes would generally happen once every couple of days. One time I did get it to crash while running the driver Verifier application while copying files from one folder to another. I've been whittling the components left in the machine down, and I'm down to just a hard drive and dvd-drive as extra components at this point. The only configuration I have left to try is to switch to a different hard drive and only run that.

The errors would generally have to do with various "Pool header" issues. I've tried running memtest overnight and it'd get though 6-8 passes easily each overnight session. I've done that a couple of times. I also have run chkdsk to see if there were any issues on the hard drives, but those have come up without issues too. So since I'm not seeing any hardware issues, I'm thinking that this is just a driver issue. I have updated whatever drivers I could see that looked out of date and I make sure that I have the latest Windows Updates. I've tried to keep the software installed on the machine to a minimum after I did a complete reinstallation of Windows 8.1.

Debugging :: BSOD After Waking Up From Sleep Mode Related To Xonar Card?

I am running the Windows 8.1 beta drivers directly from Asus's website, and the drivers were working fine before my clean install. What could be causing this problem now, after everything was fine before?

Debugging :: 3 Different BSODs When System Waking From Sleep / Hibernate

Apr 9, 2014

I've been having 3 different BSODs the last while. SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR, and SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. The bug check codes are 0x1000007e or 0x0000003b for the system_service_exception.

My laptop is running windows 8.1, it is an Asus G46vw. I've updated my video drivers, both intel and nvidia. I've updated other drivers that i can find updates for. I've run memtest 86+ 5.01 on both sticks of ram individually, and they both pass multiple passes. I've also updated my Intel SSD to the newest firmware.

The crashes happen when the computer is waking up from both sleep and hibernate. They have been more frequent lately (4 crashes the last 9 days). I've attached the files from sf diagnostic tool.

Debugging :: Constant BSOD Fresh Install Of Windows 8 Pro

Jul 12, 2014

I recently upgraded to an SSD, installing a fresh copy of Win8Pro.

I'm receiving constant BSODs, typically reporting BAD_POOL_HEADER and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I've updated every driver I can think of (chipset, lan, usb, audio, video) as well as fully updating in windows update.

Memtest ran overnight finding no errors, and Western Digital's HDD utility reports no hard disk corruption.

I'm thinking either a bad driver, or some hardware failure that I can't nail down. My specs should be listed in my profile, with the addition of a 750w corsair PS and my HDD setup (AHCI, 1 crucial mx100 256gb SSD (primary), 1tb WD blue, and 1tb WD green as data drives).

Crash dumps should be attached, one may have driver verifier enabled.

Also, clean booting seems to be slightly more stable than a regular boot, so there's that.

Attempting to install windows 8.1 fails right at the end (after installing and setting up, reporting 0xC1900101 - 0x2003).

Debugging :: Fresh Install On New SSD Of 8.1 - Restarts Into BSOD

Mar 27, 2014

Just got in the mail 2 ssd's and the HD7870 video card along with a copy of windows 8.1 complete (retail). My boot ssd (one I'm trying to install on) is a 60gb Mushkin and the other is the one I was going to put games on the 240gb Mushkin.

So I hooked the 60gb one up and put in my install disk for the 64bit of windows 8.1. It went through the install fine, then it said it needed to restart to complete and when it restarted it gave me the black screen of death. It sat there for over 30 minutes then the screen turned to a yellowish orange.

So I formatted the ssd, reinstalled fresh again. Same thing.

I then tried the 240gb thinking maybe I had a bad ssd. Same thing.

Then I tried an old 500gb Seagate that I knew worked but I formatted it and installed. Same thing.

So back to the 60gb I went, formatted, reinstalled 8.1 then it did the black screen again. So I tried booting over a couple times till it gave me the option to start in safe mode with networking. It started in a black screen with the blue windows logo... and stayed there for an hour.

I then tried the command prompt methods of BOOTREC/FIXMBR, BOOTREC/FIXBOOT, BOOTREC/REBUILDBCD and restarted with same black screen. *after the rebuildbcd, it said copies of windows = 0???*

So I tried to start using the install CD as a recovery drive, it brought up the option to install windows....

I'm not sure how I can get dumps or test stuff if there is no way for me to even get to the actual explorer other than the black screen or the black screen with the blue window logo, or even he more rare black screen with underscore blinking...

Debugging :: BSOD - Computer Freezes And Restarts Randomly

Jul 30, 2014

A couple of weeks ago my old PSU blew up. It did kind of like a explosion sound and some flashing, very impressive. I inspected the motherboard and I could not find any damage whatsoever. Only the PSU seemed affected.

After that I bought a new PSU (Tacens MP700 - 700W), an aftermarket CPU fan (Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO) and some extra chasis fan to improve air flow and lower the temperature. I plugged everything in, and system started with no apparent issues.

However since a few days ago sometimes my PC restarts without saying anything, some other time it just freezes (very annoying) and some other times it gives me a BSOD with the errors CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT. The frequency of these failures:

- Normal use like browsing, email, programming --> not very often
- Playing game like iRacing --> sometimes it freezes
- Playing game like PES2014 --> it always freezes, sometimes during the first match, sometimes after a 2-3 of them

After googling it appears is a hardware problem so I wonder if the damn PSU damaged some of my other components. The thing is the original PSU was intended to be for a quiet HTPC but I started to work from home and suddenly became a work station. I should have improved the PSU among with the other components (CPU, memory, etc.) but I did not think it was necessary. Bad decission I guess.

I've monitored temperature and it does not seem to be the issue as using a benchmark software at 100% CPU during 30 minutes temperature does not go over 65C on the CPU (I live in Spain where ambient temperature is around 30) and motherboard never pass 68-70. Right now while browsing temp is 35 for the CPU, 45 for the mobo and graphic, 30 for HDD. Pretty normal I think.

I have also upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 hoping it was a driver issue but not success either.

Find attached the SF report. Added new crash info:

Debugging :: Windows 8 Crashes After It Wakes Up From Sleep Mode

Sep 15, 2014

I've actually had this problem for a while, I really should have taken care of it sooner. It is mostly because I found ways around it, which probably aren't too good for my computer. If I leave music running in the background and put the computer to sleep then the error won't occur. Needless-to-say - and as the title says- The system crashes upon waking up from sleep mode. The screen turns blue and says: "Sorry, your computer encountered an error and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you" The results from the diagnostic test have been attached

System recoveries and restores haven't worked, hence the reason why I've sort of given up on the problem until now.

Debugging :: Black Screen When Waking From Sleep Mode With Legacy HW

Nov 24, 2013

My system is old : MSI Neo2 Nforce3 + HD4650 Radeon AGP + 2 GB mem + AMD Athlon 3000+

However, I wanted to try Windows 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation for it and was able to install it successfully with 32 bit version (64 bit didn't work). I installed Radeon legacy AGP Hotfix 12.6 drivers that seem to work for the old AGP card giving Youtube HD playback! Not too shabby for a single core beast.

So I have been happy with the system performance (faster to boot than XP etc.).

However, I have encountered two problems that I haven't been able to resolve:

1 - Realtek Gigabit Ethernet (8111) fails to initialize the Internet on some boots, requiring enable/disable driver to make it work. I have installed newest drivers from Realtek website but no effect.

2 - When the system goes to sleep, it wakes up with black screen and no way to get picture back except resetting the computer. I have tried to change my MB BIOS setup (I have the latest BIOS installed) to disable S3 and use only S1 mode but to no avail. Black screen awaits in every wake up. I have also experienced once the driver_power_state_failure error..

So, I see there are many posts about black screens and sleep modes but I haven't found the solution for Nforce3 motherboard AGP setups yet.

Debugging :: Driver Power State Failure In Sleep Mode

Jun 6, 2014

issue with my laptop where I can't allow it to enter sleep mode or else it will restart/appear to have restarted the next time I wake it up. At first I thought it might be a power options issue, but I made sure that the computer was set to sleep and not restart when I close the lid. I've checked the bluescreen viewer and the cause of the restart seems to come from a driver power state failure coming from ntoskrnl.exe+1fcc1e, hal.dll+6a37, and storport.sys+33f0.

I've already run sfc/scannow to check for damaged files and I was also able to replace them using a DISM command, so now scanning the computer doesn't run into any errors, but this driver error still persists.

Sidenote: The driver errors mainly started after I reinstalled Kaspersky onto my computer to fix some issues that I had with it. Before that I was getting a couple of kernel data inpage errors, the latest of which occurred June 1.

Debugging :: Driver Power State Failure After Resuming From Sleep Mode

Jun 6, 2014

I'm having a BSOD problem. After walking computer from sleep mode, within 1-2 minutes it will get a BSOD with the "driver power state failure" error and restart, but interestingly I never get the error the moment I wake up the computer. I'm using a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P with Windows 8.1 64-bit. I already tried uninstalling the Intel HD 4000 driver, restarting computer, and installing the one on Lenovo's site (as this was suggested on the Lenovo forum as a common fix) but it didn't work.

The problem only started occurring after one of the following:
- Updating Malwarebytes to latest last week
- Installing a Windows update last week (there were 3 installed components, 1 of them was an Intel HD 4000 driver update, forgot what the other 2 were)
- Updating GeForce Experience and latest NVIDIA Graphics Driver (337.88), it included NVIDIA PhysX System Software 9.13.1220

Debugging :: PC Crashes In Sleep Mode - WinDbg Points To Wireless Card?

Jan 5, 2014

I am using an ASUS K55N laptop, equipped with an AMD A8-4500M APU, 4GB single-channel RAM, and of course, Windows 8 standard x64.

Occasionally, anywhere from an hour to three days after a boot-up, the computer will hang while in sleep mode (screen will be off but indicator lights will remain on for about 5 minutes in sleep mode) and shut off. Upon restarting, I'll be greeted by a "Your PC ran into a problem and had to restart" Windows prompt. Of course, a minidump will also be produced. However, there is no BSOD anywhere to be found.

Upon looking into these dump files with WinDbg, all of them point toward my Atheros AR9485 wireless card's driver; either athw8x.sys or athrx.sys depending on the driver I was using at the time. I have tried several Atheros drivers, to no avail. I have tried using new drivers, old drivers, Windows 7 drivers, you name it. At this moment, I am using a Windows 7 driver. Yet, it has not solved the issue.

Verifier is disabled, although I believe my issue can be attributed to debugging. I have literally tried everything and it persists.

Attached are my SF diagnostics tool logs.
