Unexpected Error During Download Restart

Nov 26, 2009

I bought the Windows 7 professional 32 bit, done step by step guide to change from XP. Installation went well in the custom installation-message appeared for the computer to restart to complete installation. Windows 7 screen appears and the thoughts are that it had installed. "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encounter an unexpected error windows installation can on proceed to install windows click "ok" to restart the computer and then restart the installation." I called the company support (Pugh) and was advised that the fault is possibly due to the dvd disk running of an external usb hard drive I had to go to Bios settings to rearrange the boot order. I have no access to Safe mode for my keyboard/mouse mouse would not select any options in menus.Just upgraded my memory-Ebox hard drive. Cable into the VGA in. Even if I can just somehow get access to XP again. Have a restore CD but it is for my Dell laptop.

Windows 7 - Restart Loop During Complete Installation / Unexpected Error

Sep 22, 2009

I attempted to install Windows 7 x64 RC version on my new desktop, and about 20 minutes into the "Complete Installation" section my computer crashed for a reason of which I'm not aware (I saw a blue screen with writing for about a second or two before my computer restarted). I now get the following error after windows attempts to "start services":

"Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation".

I've now clicked "OK" about 10 times, with my computer restarting properly each time, and the same error pops up every time.

Unexpected Shutdown And Then Restart, Upon Mouse Scrolling

Sep 19, 2012

I'm in the process of scrolling the page using mouse wheel (either browser, or microsoft word document, etc) the screen blinks for a fraction of second, and the whole system shuts down as if somebody pulled the plug out, and then immediately restarts showing dialogue of whether I want to start windows normally or in the safe mode.

I have looked in the event logs but the only thing it tells me there is that there was an unexpected shutdown. The same in that reliability place.

how I would diagnose it? I cannot replicate it at will, as it only happens occasionally when scrolling, at other times scrolling is fine and does not produce this result. The system is Windows 7 enterprise 64bit, the mouse is Microsoft bluetrack technology

Error 0x8007003B: An Unexpected Network Error Occurred?

Aug 11, 2010

I recently switched out an older Netgear router for the Netgear WNDR3300. I have a 1TB WD MyBookWorld connected via ethernet to the router. Ever since the router switch I have been having two specifice issues:While uploading videos to Facebook, the video will upload anywhere from several MB up to over 100 MB, then stall, saying it's still uploading but trust me, it isn't. I can copy files/folders from the networked hard drive to my computer flawlessly, but when I try to copy files/folders from my computer to the networked hard drive, it copies anywhere from a few seconds to maybe a couple minutes then stalls out, giving the error message: "Network Error. There was a problem accessing [\SERVERFOLDER]... Make sure you are connected to the network and try again." with Retry, Skip and Cancel. When cancel is pressed it gives: "An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem. Error 0x8007003B: An unexpected network error occurred.

Other useful information: on the new router, the WNDR3300, if I use WEP security, I can copy files/folders to the hard drive, no problem. However if I try to use WPA/WPA2, the abovementioned problems occur. I would use WEP and just forget the hassle, but WPA2 is much faster and more secure, so I really want to get this fixed.I also believe the two problems are somehow related, considering they both involve working for a few seconds to a few minutes, then stalling and failing. Could this be somekind of authentication or something to do with WPA/WPA2 that I'm doing wrong?

Windows 7 Recovered From Unexpected Error

Jul 2, 2012

Well July 1st when I woke up I found that my computer restarted and said that it recovered from an unexpected error and I sent the data to Microsoft and they gave me this solution. Solve a problem with your PC. You received this message because hardware or software on your computer caused Windows to shut down unexpectedly and restart. This is a serious problem, commonly referred to as a stop error. If you've received this error more than once, we recommend that you do the following:

-Back up your files to avoid data loss in case of a complete hardware failure.
- Contact the original manufacturer of your computer to determine the specific component which is failing.

How do I find my computer manufacturer?

- Click the Start button , type msinfo32 in the search box, and then press Enter. Your computer manufacturer is listed as the System Manufacturer in the right pane of the System Information window.
- Click to go online to see contact info for most computer manufacturers
- Additional technical info

Although we know the problem is caused by a hardware component, the error report doesn't contain enough info to tell us the specific component. It's likely that the problem is being caused by one of the following computer components:

- Random access memory (RAM)
- System board
- Central Processing Unit (CPU)
- Power supply

Unexpected Error On Multi-boot System

Aug 23, 2009

My system is multi-boot with the first partition for Windows XP Professional, the second with Vista Business, and the third and fourth with OpenSuse Linux. Computer Restarted Unexpectedly Or Encountered And Unexpected Error

Oct 25, 2009

Last night after all the troubles with getting W7 Pro 64bit installed, I finally managed to do it using a USB.

This morning I start installing all my programs and I noticed that my "Windows Experience" number was 1.0. I assumed this was down to it not recognising my graphics card (Geforce 9600M GS).

I downloaded the drivers from Nvidia and installed them. Upon restarting, I received an unexpected error message giving me the option to repair the problem or run windows normally. The latter just caused the machine to restart everytime it was chosen, and the former took the system restore window.

Upon doing this it managed to get me back to the desktop and everything seemed fine. I tried installing the drivers again and it led to the same problem.

By this point I decided to try and reinstall windows from my USB stick. I performed the first section of this, it started on its own as its supposed to, and began trying to complete the installation. At the point where it said "Setup is starting services", a warning appeared saying:

"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered and unexpected error. Installation cannto proceed. To install Windows click OK to restart the computer and the installation."

Sure enough, clicking OK leads me to exactly the same message.

After getting sick of this I tried installing W7 for a third time and exactly the same thing happened. Now I am stuck with the choice of 3 Windows 7's on boot, all three leading to the same error.

I am completely lost, can anyone help?

File:\boot\BCD Status: 0xc00000e9 Unexpected I/O Error Has Occurred

Dec 23, 2011

I have had an HP Envy 14-1110nr for just under a year now and suddenly it has been giving me problems the last few weeks. It started with a couple of hangs or random crashes over the first week. After 2 or 3 of those, the computer simply wouldn't start up. Every time I would turn the laptop on, it would get to a certain part, give me the following error and then restart, over and over.

"File:\boot\BCD Status: 0xc00000e9 unexpected I/O error has occurred

Nothing seemed to be working, and then finally last night I started getting errors from just about everything saying that my HDD was rapidly failing.SMART HDD Error 301 Intel Rapid Storage Technology gives me a warning saying something is wrong with the HDD.Microsoft also gave me an error saying that the HDD is at risk and to back up my files immediately. After doing one final test I was able to get the boot problem solved, at least it seems to be fixed for now but the errors are persisting. Could all of the errors that I'm getting because of that boot or is the drive really broken? Chkdsk shows absolutely nothing wrong with the drive at all, no bad sectors, nothing. Could it have something to do with the boot error that I was getting before or is it likely really damaged? The HDD in question is a Samsung HM640JJ 640GB.

BSOD Error 0x0000007f - Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap

Nov 11, 2011

i've been getting bsods for the past couple of months. i'm running windows 7 professional x64 on a one-year-old sony vaio vpcs12c7e laptop. it's the original os which came installed on the system, and i've never re-installed it. the bsods all share some basic features:

they're all 0x0000007f unexpected_kernel_mode_trap errors (see attached dump files). they all happen when watching content online (usually adobe flash based, such as Internet) though occasionally offline when using vlc player. they all happen seemingly sporadicly - either thirty seconds or two hours under the above conditions.

the bsods also occur more instantaneously when streaming high-quality videos or multiple files at once. they started happening directly after i inserted an empty usb memory stick from a friend into my laptop. i can't recall the make or model of the usb stick. anyway, here are the dump files.

Event 41 Kernel Error - Windows 7 Rebooted After Unexpected Shutdown

Nov 12, 2012

I am running a 3 year old Sony Vaio, Win7 Sp1, home edition and recently it has been shutting down randomly (not restarting) when I am running games (99% of the time I am on the laptop is when I am running games So I cannot say if this shut-down issue will or will not occur if I just kept the system idle). I have never had this problem until a few days ago when I experienced a BSOD (which happened to me before so I thought it was no big deal), and from that point my laptop began to shut down randomly (just crashes, no BSOD), sometimes within a few minutes, sometimes after a few hours of use.

"WhoCrashed" failed to generate any reports (I ran the crash test, it works fine) and after checking my computers event viewer, there was multiple occurrences of the "event 41 Kernel, Windows was rebooted after an unexpected shutdown" critical error. I browsed the internet looking for possible causes of this, and have taken the following actions:

1. Sending in my laptop for repairs (new thermal paste and heatsink cleaning), the core temp when running games tops out around 60-65C which is nowhere near the level needed for a overheat shutdown
2. Testing my GPU temp, (around 50-60C) once again no where near the level needed for overheat (I am running a Nvidia Geforce GT 330M with updated drivers)
3. Multiple Chkdsks
4. Checked system, power, performance, battery etc with Vaio Care
5. Tested it unplugged and plugged on battery
6. Toning down my power plan's maximum processor usage, changing system cooling policy
7. Reinstalling service pack
8. Cleaning out registry with CCleaner
9. Planning on doing a memory test

After all this, the problem still occurs. I am not sure if it is a hardware problem or something else I am probably going to do a repair install on WIN7 to see if that will fix anything.

Windows 7 - Volume Shadow Copy Service Component Encountered Unexpected Error

Apr 17, 2012

I have a Windows 7 Home premium x64 OS and it has been giving me more and more problems. I've ran virus scan on AVG and Windows security and came up with nothing. I've tried msconfig and disabling all non-windows services from starting and still nothing has worked! Windows Live ID Sign in use to start after I had to manually start it (even though it was set for automatic), and now it won't even start at all, giving me the error it didn't respond in a timely fashion. My windows task manager doesn't respond, and my system restore gives me an error saying "A volume shadow copy service component encountered an unexpected error".

The problem seemed to start when my web browser would start to not load pages. Then my printer wouldn't work because the "printer spool" service wouldn't start, then of course the hardware and devices in the control panel wouldn't load. After resolving that by manually starting the bluetooth service, the Task Manager stopped working, and the "printer spool" service failed and would not stay started. My start up speed has seemed to have hit a brick wall as well, I've ran start-up repair to no avail. This is my build as copied from newegg.com:

ASUS P6X58-E PRO LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA SuperClocked 01G-P3-1461-KR GeForce GTX 560
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W ATX12V v2.31

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EARX 1TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb

This computer was quick as can be when I built it, and had had no problem with it whatsoever until now. I can't think of any program that may be messing with it, I've gone through my installed programs and startup programs and nothing to me is out of the ordinary.

"The Computer Restarted Unexpectedly Or Encountered An Unexpected Error"

Jun 30, 2011

My neighbor has just brought around his desktop saying he tried to load Win 7 over a Vista installation, now he says he cannot install Win 7 and Vista appears to have gone. When I fire it up, I get a screen saying "starting Windows", this then goes to a window saying "Setup Starting Services" which then comes up with the message: "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click OK to restart the computer and then restart the installation"What has happened is: he has tried to install an upgrade version of win 7 that is meant to upgrade from the starter edition of Win 7 which he did not have installed and in doing so Vista has been wiped, but before I tell him this I am looking for a confirmation of my diagnosis, does this theory sound plausible? bye the way he does not have a Vista installation disk either!

Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation."I have browsed some questions and answers about this error message but from all I have seen all individuals with this problem encountered it while they were reformatting or reinstalling windows 7 on a new computer. This just randomly happened to a working computer out of the blue. I'm not certain if there was a power surge but we do have surge protectors and our other 2 computers work just fine.I tried one solution of hitting Shift+F10 typing into the black command box "regedit" then going into the folders and changing the childcompletion from 1 to 3 in order to install windows. The problem is will uninstalling windows again wipe out my hard drives?
