i'm trying to connect my Xbox to my Windows 7 laptop and then to the internet via dongle, i had this set up on my old Windows Vista laptop and it worked ok.My windows 7 laptop is seeing my Xbox but the Xbox can't find my laptop! very fustrating!When i run network diagnosis it comes up with IP addess disabled?
View 1 Repliesi am trying to connect my xbox 360 as an extender. i get all the way through the setup and it fails at the last step. i have gone into my firewall and the media extender is ticked to allow. i have also manually set up rules to allow all the ports i found on the microsoft site to be allowed. lastly, i tried the microsoft fix it tool on the microsoft support site. i have run out of ideas. the xbox is definitely on the same network as me, it can see my laptop and also my iomega iconnect when i go into setting and network connections. it tests positively when i test the network connection, but fails when i test the media centre connection.
i have gone through the setup 3 times now (i.e. reset the connection and put in another 8 digit code to set up) but still no luck.
I have windows 7 home professional 32bit and an xbox 360, and I just cannot get media center to work. I have moved from wireless to wired, disabled windows firewall, tried just using a switch instead of my BT Home Hub 3.0
It gets as far as the xbox displaying 'connecting to media center' but the PC comes up with an error was encountered.
The event viewer error message is :
Media Center Extender Setup cannot create an account for the Extender with ID: uuid:10000000-0000-0000-0200-0025AEEBD738.
Error: Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed.
The event ID is 545

I've been at it all morning, so I'm popping out for a bit to calm down But will start again later. Are there any connectivity issues with the Home Hub 3.0 ? UPnP is enabled.
How do you connect xbox 360 as a extender? I would also want to know what model of xbox 360 would work?
View 2 Replies View RelatedCan't connect my Xbox to my router.I've just brought a new router.It is a Tenda W311R Wireless N Cable DSL Broadband Router.But I can't connect it to my Xbox 360 S.I've managed to add my PC, Laptop, and PS3 to my home network without any difficulty however.I've encrypted my home network with WPA2 as recommended by Microsoft.These are the steps I took when trying to add my xbox 360 S console to my home network:
1. On the console I went to My Xbox
2. Then System Settings.
3. Network Settings
4. Scan for Networks
4. My router was listed so I selected it
5. I then entered my WPA2 wireless password
6. Then I selected Test Xbox Live Connection.
The console then said it couldn't connect to my wireless network. I was thinking that the Xbox 360 S console's built-in Wi-Fi uses the 2.4 gigahertz frequency band. Maybe my router is broadcasting using another frequency... But I have yet to check what that frequency is.
Simply discribed: Can't establish a connection from my xbox360 to my PC. I'ts a direct connection and it should work like: xbox->PC->Gateway->Internet
I got it connected directly to the pc on Connection 1. On connection 2 is the gateway.
In the network sharing center the xbox on connection 1 is marked as "unidentified network". When I go to advanced sharing center, and check the full map of my connection 1 it shows me 1 hub, my PC and the XBOX!!
But, when I move over the XBOX with the pointer it says : IPv4 address: 0.0.0.0 and a MAC address which seems to be configured.
Well....I'm not even able to establish any connection from my XBOX to the PC. It simply says that its not connected to a PC or hasn't got a IP address from the PC.
I hope that some of you guys can help me out with this mess, I googled around the web and found no concrete solution to this problem.
btw, I'm using up to date nforce controllers, and Windows 7 64bit.
I recently activated internet at home. We are using a modem in which through my lap top i use wirelessly. Through my boyfriends desktop he bought a wireless adapter to connect wirelessly as well.I have no problems sharing anything on my laptop to the xbox or etc considering i have a homegroup option that allows me to do so..My boyfriend wants to share his music files plus etc to our xbox located in the living room.(his computer is in another room.)

Lately I have been experiencing random disconnects that will last from maybe 30 seconds to 2 minutes. They will happen maybe every hour or two and are becoming really annoying. At first I was using the laptops wifi abilities to connect to my router. So when these disconnects began to happen I tried plugging in an Ethernet cable into the router and still experience the same disconnects. The only other devices in the house that experience this is the xbox 360 which is connected with an ethernet cable aswell. The router that I had was an old netgear router, but in the past week we got a new router which is a SMCD3GNV. I have only had it working today and I had the problem maybe 3-4 times within the first 12 hours (with both the wifi and ethernet connection). I have tried updating the firmware and resetting the router and modem.

Everything hunky dorry in regards to internet connection. 2 days later, I've lost internet connection to both computers. Both say I'm connected to my network. I have other mobile devices that can connect to the router, so I don't think that's the issue. I read about disabling Home Group, which I did and that didn't help. I've got to think that there is a setting I just need to tweek, but have yet to come across something that works. The laptop does connect at my work to the WiFi so the network card is working properly. Both computers will connect to the internet if I bypass the router and connect ethernet cable directly from modem to computer.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble connecting my girlfriends laptop to the internet using her Windows 7 laptop via a Dlink router with Virgin Media. The laptop previously had Windows Vista installed but I recently upgraded it to Windows 7. For about 2 weeks the laptop connected to the wireless router fine, but stopped working about 4 days ago for some unknown reason out of the blue.
We have tried various methods to fix it, including disabling the wireless network adapter and enabling it again, we have tried updating the driver for the adapter but we get a message saying that the driver currently installed is the latest driver. It also won't let me roll back to the previous driver as that option is faded out in the properties box.
I have took her laptop to my house today to try and connect it to my router (which is also with Virgin and is working fine on my computers at my house) and the laptop won't let me connect to the network and it keeps saying there are no network connections available. I understand that usually it displays a list of connections you can log on to, but the laptop is not finding any connections at all.
On Thursday we attempted to connect to the internet by plugging in the blue wire that came with the router and that works fine. It's just it will not connect wirelessly. What really baffles us with this problem is that it worked fine for a couple of weeks then suddenly stopped working. Could it be an update that was installed that has caused the problem perhaps?
I have also tried using System Restore but that hasn't fixed the problem either. The wireless adapter is called: Atheros AR5005G Wirelss Network Adapter.
I know the wifi in the laptop works, i know the laptop has no issues.I know this because i switched my hard drive from my 1330 to this laptop which is also a 1330...connects and works fine.Wifi IS turned on
In device manager the driver is ok no exclamation marks anywhere When i try and connect with the ethernet i get identifying no network access, then it says currently connected to unidentified network, no network access! You cannot browse.So that being said it must be in the setting with windows 7.I uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi driver it did not make any difference.I also tried using a ethernet connection and it would not connect either.When i use the win 7 trubleshooter it states a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.Remeber this laptop functions fine with my hard drive in it with windows xp.

I want to use it with my laptop as stereo headphones (listening music) + internet telephony headset (voice chats, skype etc). First of all it was pain to connect the this headphones with laptop. It took me many many many tries to pair this correctly. Now that its connected, I cant get it to make a connection between laptop and headphones. I tried pressing the button on headphone to initiate a connection, and also tried to make connection by pressing the connect button in headset's bluetooth control window with no results. However it does connect once in a while (I would say less than 10% of the times). The same setup used to work fine when I had vista. What is wrong with Windows 7?

I can ping websites and get a reply, but Internet Explorer just hangs and I get Not Responding in Task Manager. I have ran Malwarebytes, AVG, and Microsoft Security Essentials.
