My machine has an "ECS ELITEGROUP A780GM-A Black Series" mother board, AMD Athlon x2 6000 3.1GHz processor, four sticks of 1 Gig Crucial Ballistix 1066MHz RAM, and my OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.
The system only reads 3 Gigs of RAM, i have tried each slot and each stick of RAM individually and they all work.
What could be the problem?
i have an asus m3n72-d mother board with the quad 4 processor have 8 gig of ram on windows 7 it only reads 4 gig of ram why?
View 5 Replies View RelatedDell 755 dual core 1.8, 3 gig ram. I installed Window 7 on the machine, updated the drivers for sound ect. The problems is the CD drive, it can see it read what�s on the disk, when you try to open it, it disappears completely off the machine, it goes out of devise manager, reboot it comes back. If i try to play a music CD it loads the WMP and tries to play you can see it playing, the track bar moves but no sound comes. If I play the in-build music or play the video it plays and I hear the music. I've changed the drive letter as someone suggested still the same. At one point I had my 3g modem in that show up as the CD drive. It must a conflict somewhere, where I dont know. Set it to both 32 & 64 bit configurations its the same on both

I encyprted some files in folder on my d drive.I created a virtual windows xp machine. when i navigated to that folder from the xp virtual machine, i was able to open the encyprted files. i thought xp system was independant of the windows 7 sytem

I was going to buy Windows 7 anyway, so i decided to get 64bit so i could use all of the ram on my computer (4gigs, plus my SLi video cards have 500mb or 1gig each, can't remember)
Since vista 32bit could only use 3.5 gigs
but now to my dismay it seems like i can still only use 2.5 gigs of ram
Anyone know how to fix this?
I read something about remapping ram or something but how do you do that or how can you tell if it is possible?

i don't get why 2 gigs of my memory are being used i have 4 gigs and when i am not running anything but google chrome my laptop is using up 2.50-2.00 gigs of memory and i only have about 4 tabs open and no backgrounds programs i used one of AVG's programs to get rid of any useless programs that start up and i don't know why it is using 2 gigs when it should't
View 7 Replies View RelatedI updated my XP 32 OS to windows 7 64 bit professional. Everything works fine on this upgrade. BUT when i go >start>mycmputer>right click and select properties i see 6 gigs but only 3.25 GB usable. Any way i can use the rest of those gigs. When i bought windows 7 two days ago i bought 2 stick of ram with 2 gigs each stick. so i have (2) 1 gig stick and (2) 2 gig sticks.
Like i sed my PC (Alienware was built in Dic2005) originally was made with 32 OS xp if someone can guide me on how to get my info of my mother board I will be glad to follows those steps so i can post them here and hopefully gets some help. If not I just will return the extra gigs I bought.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI am running windows 7 with a AMD X2 5600+ 4 GB DDR 800 and a 9800GT EE I am running windows 7 right now with 1300mb in use and 2700 free, around that. Anyway I was wondering if there is a way to speed things up by using more memory, would disabling virtual memory help? These might be stupid questions but they are worth asking for me but not someone smarter. Anyway I would like to be able to have the operating system use more ram and be able to run games better. I am running 64 bit.
If anyone has any negative comments about my system please hold off because I am excited with how cheap I put this system together, I know it's not up to date but I can put it to some good use.
500 GB seems like a lot of HD space to me. My music collection only takes up 32GB and my pics only half a gig. Im not much of a gamer so woudnt really use it for that. Im wondering if I can get any tips as to how to fill up my 500Gigs, as it seems like a real waste that im not using this space with different bits and pieces.

But will this also make every application use twice as much memory as before? Something like registers using twice as much data? What is the least amount of gigs I can get away with in an SSD for Windows 7 64 bit and mobo drivers. I was thinking either a 50 or 55 gig SSD. I think Windows 7 only uses 30 some gigs of memory and drivers should only use a couple gigs.

I lost 100 gigs! After searching through all the files, it appears that there is 100 gigs worth of space that is not actually being used. i have done some searching and it appears that this is a windows 7 problem with no real resolution. I have emptied my recycling bin and i don't have any restore points or backups.

Lately whenever i try to start my computer it pass the Dell Bios and then directly goes to the screen which states
Repair your system or Start windows normally When i chose repair system , it start downloading windows files and then launch the windows , but hung up at the sky blue login window with only movable cusor . When i choose to start windows normally it gives me BSOD momentarly ( hard to see the message) and then restarts again . i tried with the advanced boot up options like
repair my computer , all safe modes , restore to last good configuration but it does the same and hangs at windows loging sky blue window .I Tried to run the Dell PSA+ Diagnostic and it returns with 2000-0146 error . As per the Dell online solutions for this type of error ,I tried to reinstall the Hard disk but the problem still exist.
Suddenly my Win 7 Home Premium x64 will not boot. The system starts, POSTs then loads the DVD driver, then the screen goes black (not blank but "lit up" black if that makes sense). Then nothing. If I use Hiren's boot cd I can boot up using the "boot from HDD" option fine and Windows operates normally. System restore to a previous configuration made no difference to the original problem. I cannot boot into Safe Mode. F8 just offers me boot order options.
- Running the Windows 7 DVD I find: "No operating system is listed on the Repair Windows option."
- Running Startup Repair finds the following error: "the partition table does not have a valid system partition" which it claims to have repaired, but the error remains and Windows will still not boot.
I followed this advice:
Boot 7 dvd to system recovery options command prompt. Type: Diskpart
list vol (find the vol letter e.g C or partition number e.g. 1 for the system partition )
Sel vol C ( or sel vol 1, obviously use the correct letter or number)
act exi
My system partition was easily identified and listed as healthy so I selected it and made it active. The problem still remains exactly the same. My system is self built just over a year ago, to my knowledge has been running fine, without any hardware issues. I'm prepared to do a clean install if that's what it takes but if there is a way to fix the partition problem without that I'd like to explore it first.
"Missing operating system" massage is coming when i start my system and i am not able to start. The original hard drive, a Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 1Tb crashed.1) System Recovery discs was made along with a System Recovery with System Image disc.2) A more current System Image was made on an external hard drive.The Hitachi was replaced with the same model. Checked bios to make sure it was installed correctly.Under System Recovery, Image Restore, Select a System Image Backup there is nothing in the table to choose from as far as a source (disc drive or external drive).A) System Recovery (3 discs) has the HP preinstall file folder on the 3rd disc but is not read by the System Recovery program.B) Under System Restore, Image Restore, Advanced, it asks for a network or driver to be installed. That opens up the directory of C: which is the external hard drive. Under WindowsImageBackup the computer name is identified followed by three entries:[CODE]It seems to me the Recovery and System Restore discs are not functional. Am not a technical person but I have taken this as far as I know how at this point.Printed out all the instructions from HP and Microsoft to follow step by step but the failed discs will not allow me to move forward.

I get the error message "autochk program not found" then stop: c000021a Fatal System Error. I have run System Recovery several times to no avail. I tried to do a repair using the Win 7 DVD, but that didn't work either.

We just had some very heavy rains with lightening and my computer shut down several times, but I could restart it each time...except for the last time when Windows wouldn't startup.
