View 1 Replies View RelatedI shut down my computer by pressing the power button, the next day when I turned my computer (toshiba, windows 7) it said loading files and then went to start up repair, after a short while start repair said it couldn't fix the problem automatically, it said to click finish which would restart my computer, I've restarted my computer multiple times but it always comes up with the same thing.
I clicked on advanced options for system recovery and support and it comes up with language and key board inout which is all right, click next and it says to access recovery options, log on as a local user, to access the command prompt as well, log on using an administrator account, I've tried my computer account password using the administrator option but it doesn't work, the other options are ASPNET and SophosSAUNB-(my last name goes here). I've tried each option with my password and it doesn't work, am i supposed to use a special password? I don't know what to do.

View 3 Replies View Relatedbeen searching all over the internet on an alterative machine for a solution to a problem that occurred about an hour ago.To offer background on the machine:I upgraded it last summer with a 60gb Solid State HD to host the OS and a 700gb HD to host the bulk non-system essential files and appsI've had no anti-virus on it but occasionally run the Microsoft free Scan & Repair along with Iobits cleanup suiteThere's been this Win7.CH Trojan Horse that is occasionally detected for the past 6 months and even though I select to fix and repair, it always comes backThe machine will occasionally crash after exiting a high performance application like a videogameAfter installing the Planetside2 videogame Beta on the 700gb drive, my SS drive began to become strangely over-stuffed with files, and I could not narrow down where they originated. I uninstalled a few unessential Iobit programs and cleared my downloads and recycle bin, then something even stranger happened. The SS drive had 16gb free, while this entire time I've had it I've only managed to keep it about 2-4gb free, and the file clogging stopped from what I could tell.Anyway, a week or so later, after exiting the Planetside2 Beta application earlier the machine crashed (unsurprisingly) but upon startup, did not recover.

I have a Samsung netbook (n145) which has had a few issues starting up over the past couple months - it would prompt to run chkdsk before booting, I would let it run, and it would boot. However, yesterday I got the 'windows failed to start - a recent hardware change may be responsible' error message, and giving the option to try starting windows normally (which fails: there is a flash of BSOD and then screen goes black, and computer restarts, arriving at same 'failed to start' error). The other option is to run system repair, which also does not work: it takes ages to bring up a dialog box that searches for errors, but I have let this run for hours and it remains stuck. Tapping f4 to bring up samsung recovery also results in a stuck screen. Tapping f8 to boot to safe mode does not work either.
My main concern is having a working computer, and I can't really afford costly repairs or a new netbook. I got this one used about 1 1/2 years ago and it has no cd drive/OS boot disk (windows 7 starter came already installed). What should I do? Can I fix the hard drive, or should I replace? I am not at all technically skilled and have limited knowledge but an endless capacity to learn. I called samsung and they suggested I replace the hard drive to the tune of $100-$300 for parts alone, which is too expensive for a $100 netbook.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe Auto repair was useless, and to make matters worst, I started getting the evil blue screen. After a week of headaches, I decided it wasn't worth it. So, I used safe mode to save all our pictures and my books on a flashdrive(nothing else, just so it whatever was hurting the comp wouldn't come back on). Then I decided to recover the comp so I could rid it of whatever was causing the awful blue screen. It fixed it, until recently. Now understand, I didn't put anything back on the comp(not even the stuff I saved to my flashdrive) since it irritated me so much before, so I know I didn't do anything to cause this. See, now the comp won't start up at all without the Auto Repair coming on. Even when I get the option to start up windows normally and bypass the auto repair, I still end up back on the auto repair. I'm totally lost on what to do.

Anyway my problem today is that finally it will not start up. I get the start repair (recommend) or start windows normally. The latter of the two just fails and restart the computer. When clicking repair it say it cannot repair automatically, I have also gone into advanced boot settings and tried safe mode which also failed and restarted the computer the same goes with trying last good configuration which also does the same. I have also tried repair disc and back up disc I have but I don't if it some I'm doing wrong but they are not loading.

It would say loading windows, and it had the windows logo and everything, but then it would just stop. I tried to go through safe mode but that wouldn't load either. So I tried using my repair disks, but the repair disks won't load up either. I went into BIOS and made it so it would boot from the CD first, but... nothing. It said there was an unspecified error possibly caused by a change in system configuration. I have not changed anything on my computer, for the record, between the last time it worked and now. My husband said it downloaded updates, which would explain why it was off in the first place instead of just being on stand-by. Anyway, I then tried System Restore, which also failed. View 1 Replies View RelatedIt started automatically in the middle of the night and nearly 24 hrs later it's still going. I tried to stop it and a window pops up saying it can't be stopped. Every 5 min or so the computer restarts and the Startup Repair continues. I've tried to stop it during the startup with alt F2 but I don't get any choices such as Safe Start, only Start Windows Normally.

I tried hitting f8 and loading to the last good configuration doesn't work, safe mode same thing, repairing nothing, so my last resort was my windows 7 cd. So I went into bios and made my configuration boot from cd/dvd popped it in and restarted, a black screen came up saying windows is loading files, then the windows 7 menu came up, picked my language, next, and first I tried repair my computer, I get the little circle meaning its loading for like 5 seconds them it does nothing, rebooted again but this time I chose, install and I've been on the setup is starting for like 20 min. And forgot to mention, when it boots seem like it does good then comes to the screen where it says windows failed and gives me two options repair our start normal, if I pick repair it just reboots and start normal takes me to like the pick your user screen but its just blank no users, so I can't even restore our access the computer.

It boots up fine up to the part where the four balls become the windows logo, but then freezes there everytime. When i try to select the windows start up repair it blacks out the screen and I cant do anything.
I know its not a faulty hard drive because its newly fitted and this problem occured previously on a different hard drive aswell.
My computer was recently RMA'd due to a faulty PSU and video card. I just received it back and the speakers that I used before no longer work. I figured it was a driver issue and simply downloaded the RealTek drivers but it didn't fix the problem. The AMD card comes with its own drivers. I had problems in the past with their HD audio codecs and tried uninstalling them but that didn't seem to fix it either. I went into device manager and located that there were drivers installed and they checked out. I checked for hidden or disabled devices in "Playback devices" and didn't find any.
Things I've tried:
- Installing audio drivers.
- Uninstalling and reinstalling audio drivers.
- System restore.
- Checking proper connection of speakers.
- Verification that speakers work.
By just looking at the audio mixer, it would appear that the system is playing sounds because there is activity in the mixer when a song or other sounds are playing. The problem is there is nothing coming from the speakers. Is it possible that my audio ports on the motherboard could be faulty?

I am pretty sure that a virus cause this, right before my computer shut down on it's own my anti virus popped up and said that a Trojan was found but I didn't have to do anything. Then the computer shut down and when it restartrd started to load files and then go into startup repair, only it couldn't fix it. I tried a restore, but again it said that the startup files wern't there. I just quickly scanned the diagnostic details and noticed something that said "boot critical file C:CI.dll is corrupt".
