ive just bought a game for the kids which we used to have on our pc, the sims complete collection. when trying to install the game it gets to 95% then an error message comes up.ive read the back on the case and under OS it says window 98/2000/XP which i didnt think to check first.
View 1 RepliesSo coming here was sort of a last resort, I've been scouring the internet for information but I've failed to no avail.My problem is that the Sims 3 Launcher and game is running in the background is what I've gathering from bits and pieces of information I've picked up the past two hours. I've checked the task manager and in the Processes tab it shows it running, or processing, I just cannot see it or access it no matter what I try. I'm getting no error code, nothing out of the ordinary. I've already tried bypassing the launcher and the game seems to be running in the background too.how actually stop a program from running in the background if possible, it just happened to a game, sorry for any inconvenience.

One of the PC's is a windows 7 pro 32 bit and the other is window 7 ultimate 64 bit. I have had them setup with public and dedicated folder sharing. But from time to time I find that a file I want to get off one or the other was not saved to a shared folder. I have been looking for a way to allow complete access from one PC to other one (going both directions). I use 2 PC all the times and it really depends on where I am in the house as to what one I am using as one is laptop and the other is a desktop. They are both on the same network. It is just one of the strange things that I have not been able to find a way to get complete file access without the use of software like Teamviewer or others like it.What I would like to do it just go to the network location in the windows explore to get the files I want from the other PC.

I then went in to open it manually but it is not recognising a disk. Firstly i know it is not that there is a problem with my laptop as all other disks work on it & secondly it cannot be the actual disc & i have actaully returned 2 thinking that they were faulty, i am now on my 3rd. Been playing Sims on my laptop for couple of years and everything was fine until I installed a new game. Im not sure whether there is a windows update which is interferring or not. Anyone experience anything? There is nothing wrong with my graphics card and my fan isnt overheating. Ive noticed when i try to play something on windows media player it will tell me that my computer is running low on memory and to close some windows. Also games run poorly if at all. I then got Pets for Christmas, was working fine until about a week ago when it froze every so often when i went to the map view, i would then have to press the desktop button and the message "The Sims 3 has stoppe working" would appear... un-installed all of the games and reinstalled them, didn't work. Then started freezing, during game play as well, unistalled them again and reinstalled - again no luck. on my new hp laptop i used to do schedueled backups on my elements wd external hard drive regularly but suddenly it stopped completing backups because as soon as it gets around 70% my windows restarts the drive it happened 20 times already
