Complete Access To One PC Running Windows 7 From Another One That Is Also Running Windows 7

Oct 9, 2012

I am running into this issue of having complete access to one PC running windows 7 from another one that is also running windows 7. One of the PC's is a windows 7 pro 32 bit and the other is window 7 ultimate 64 bit. I have had them setup with public and dedicated folder sharing. But from time to time I find that a file I want to get off one or the other was not saved to a shared folder. I have been looking for a way to allow complete access from one PC to other one (going both directions). I use 2 PC all the times and it really depends on where I am in the house as to what one I am using as one is laptop and the other is a desktop. They are both on the same network. It is just one of the strange things that I have not been able to find a way to get complete file access without the use of software like Teamviewer or others like it.What I would like to do it just go to the network location in the windows explore to get the files I want from the other PC.

Two Desktops Running At Same Time / Background Programs Running

Jan 29, 2012

As I shutdown/restart my laptop, I notice it switches to a secondary desktop that has been running programs.A good example would be trying to open my Task Manager, I can Ctrl-Alt-Del and it will allow me to open Task Manager - however when I click on Task Manager, it opens on the Desktop running in the background. I can't even access the Desktop in the background, it only shows up as I'm shutting down - closing programs that I tried opening awhile ago.

Program Access Denied Even Though Running As Administrator

Oct 29, 2012

On my W7 machine (Dell X1) everything is working fine. I want to upgrade the BIOS so I downloaded the exe to do so. When I attempt to run it I get "Program Access Denied" no matter whether I run it normally or as administrator. Since my account is an administrator account it shouldn't matter. I've tried using the cmd window, but that doesn't do it either - always the same message. I've checked that the permissions on the file should allow it.

Running XP In Partition On Windows 7?

Apr 14, 2012

I am trying to setup win xp in a partition I've set up in my new win 7 computer. Creating the partition was a snap. I don't seem to be able to run setup though for XP. I have the original disc, but it won't allow me to click on the setup option. I assume it see's the Win 7 OS and grays it out. I tried copying the disc to the partition, so I could launch from there, but I get the same response. What am I missing, or what do I need to do differently to make this work. I'm not sure if I can make this a dual launch boot option since Win 7 is already in place. Is it necessary to reboot into XP, as opposed to run it (concurrently) in its own partition?

I attempted to boot the system from the disc, but got the blue screen of death for my efforts.

Running Windows 7 Issues

Aug 14, 2011

My laptop won't shut down- I realized I'd be hibernating it since the updates and went to shut it down and it's just on the blue screen saying it's shutting down forever and I have to manually push the button. When I turn it back on it doesn't give me the option for a safe mode start-so I assume it shut down ok, but in addition my laptop is running SUPER DUPER slow.? I ran malwarebites and nothing, my McAfee has been acting up as well so not sure if there's a virus issue or if it's the update.

PC Freezing Running Windows X64 / 6GB RAM

Jun 16, 2012

My PC is freezing in Windows 7 x64. Using the mouse or typing control/alt/delete does not work. I use it for Recording music. My software is Avid Pro Tools 8 and Propellerhead Reason 5. I thought one of those was the problem until it froze while I was online and also when I was using Microsoft Word. Almost at anytime it will freeze causing me to press the power button (Hard Reboot). I did a Memory Test, Virus Scan and SCF Scan. I saw on another website that it might be the NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 graphics card. I do not have any Minidumps because I do not get any BSOD errors.

I need to resolve a problem with a crashing program. I've gone as far as I can with removing almost everything off of my production system. Ideally, I'd like to install Windows 7 on a separate disk, install the problem program and just see if it works on a pristine system. Tech support for the program is clueless as it is a unique problem. I've searched the net far and wide and no one seems to have this problem. Is there a way to do this without pulling plugs on drives and messing up the mbr location(s)?

Running MS Windows Program?

Jul 2, 2010

Using Windows 7 Professional 32-bit We haven't changed any hardware or BOIS lately. About a week ago, Windows Update would start to hang when down loading &/or installing an update. After this happened trying to shutdown would cause one of two things - Very long Installing Update followed by Reconfiguring Windows and it hanging or Windows is Shutting Down and then hanging. After that, the only way windows would shutdown normally is by first going into safe-mode and doing a shutdown.Using the Troubleshoot Computer Problems-Systems and Security-Fix Problems with Windows Update selection offered in the Control Panel results in An Error occurred while Troubleshooting. On another note, while trying to add Windows games(such as solitaire) from the control panel "Programs and Features" by clicking on the "Turn Windows Features on or off" results in a Windows Features Box which displays "Please Wait", and it hangs.I've tried any number of solutions for the Windows Update problem(Fix It, etc) to no avail and I'm starting to think that its a bigger problem. Also, I've scanned the computer with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Can't Get Windows 7 Running - Reboots

Jan 13, 2011

I've got a new home built system. All the parts are new. The specs are listed below.

I can load Windows (retail OEM DVD Home Premium 64 bit), but after the second reboot in the installation sequence, the system shuts down. I can power up, and it will get to the 'Starting Windows' screen, pause, and then shut down. About one in four times, it will complete the boot and load. The event logs show event ID 20010 and 1074 initiating the shutdown. Subsequent reboots will shutdown as well. Occasionally, I can make it start in debug or safe mode, but not every time.

I've not yet loaded any specific drivers. Memtest passed with no errors and the WD diagnostics say the HDD is okay. I've unhooked everything from the board except the video card, DVD, and HDD. I've tried re-formatting and re-installing multiple times.

Installing Windows 7, DVD Not Running?

I put the Windows 7 CD and press a button it pauses for a moment and then just repeats the previous message. Any idea what I'm doing wrong. I haven't done this in like 3 years so I don't remember having to do it previously. The BIOS is detecting the new hard drive.

Windows 7 Is Running Way Too Slow?

Oct 11, 2011

I just got a new Dell Inspiron ONE 2320 with Windows 7 and it is unbelievably slow! I has XP on my old computer and never had these issues. Google Chrome takes forever, IE9 is much worse and just getting into My Documents takes a long time as well. I checked for performance issues in the control panel and it came back saying that my computer is set up to run programs at Startup that may cause delays. The problem is that I don't know which programs can be disabled at startup.I also checked the memory and it says its at 2.86 GB. That seems high for a new computer, doesn't it? The physical memory also says it has about 2900 mb in use. I just don't understand that.I'll do my best to describe the computer. The computer is a Dell Inspiron ONE 2320 and the Processor is an Intel Core i3-2100 CPU @3.10GHz 3.10GHz. RAM is 4.00 GB. It's a 64 bit operating system.

Here are the programs I have running on the startup tab on the system configuration:

Webcam Central
stage_primary
Roxio Burn
Realtek HD Audio Manager
PowerReg
