Trim & Garbage Collection For 64gb M4 Crucial SSD
May 27, 2012I have trim enabled. Do I have to log off my computer periodically in order to make sure Garbage Collection does it's job?

Windows 7 - Garbage, Actually Worse Than Garbage
Aug 21, 2011I have tried to make this computer work for two weeks now and it's inventing new ways every day to make life hard for me. I want to associate a program with a file type, easy in XP but takes me a hour with Windows 7.
I just renamed a small bunch of files, THE FILES DISAPPEAR !!! No not really disappear, the files are still in the folder but these are invisible in Explorer. Do a search for them and they are there, move them into another folder and they appear in the other folder, move them back to the original folder and the files become invisible again.

Jun 24, 2011I recently installed windows 7 professional from windows XP.I noticed everything is gone and the only icon on my desktop is the garbage icon.is that correct? Dosnt windows 7 OS come with other programs such as Microsoft Office?

What can I trim off the OP system to run my GPS Programs. I want to trim all the non accentuals off the system.

Jul 20, 2011I'm working with SSDs how can I be sure Trim is working in Windows 7? The computer I'm doing currently I had to flash the Bios from a P5K to P5KR bios so I could enable AHCI. Device manager shows a AHCI controller as well as others. They supplied a Patriot Wildfire for this build, I had suggested a Intel 320 or 510 series to ensure durability and the Intel utilities.
On the ones I built for myself and my brother and in my laptops I used the 320 series and run the Intel utilities so I don't worry about them. This Patriot Wildfire, no utilities, no firmware updates. Samsung's I wouldn't worry, Kingston I wouldn't worry. Since Trim keeps the drive speeds up I'd like to be sure it is working. I've seen conflicting information on the internet.
Cannot Use MicroSDXC 64GB

I try to use this microSD with my PC. But my PC cannot access to this microSD card. So I try to format this microSD card again. But I can't format it, Because Windows can't specify capacity of this card.

Transfer OS From Old 64gb Ssd To New 256gb SSD?
May 20, 2012Can you recommend me the best way to transfer OS from old 64gb ssd to new 256gb ssd? My prev 64gb only had my os installed. So i presume that to upgrade to a new 256gb i just need to install an os and it will work the same way as the old 64 gb?
Anybody able to help me with this problem? I currently have the new 256gb installed with windows 7. However when i replace the old 64gb with the new 256 gb it states that the bootmgr is missing. Bios seems to detect the new 256 gb.
i would like to have my 256gb replace the 64 gb and operate the same way as my 64 gb without any changes.

I have just purchased a 128 gb msata board I want to install in place of the 64gb unit. My system also has a 1 tb main hard drive. I have tried a system restore DVD and Back/Restore, neither has worked at all. All I want to do is find a way to do a complete copy of the 64gb msata now installed and then replace it with the 128gb unit and copy over all of the data that was on the 64gb one. This way all I have done will be to have more storage available on my system drive, the msata drive.

May 19, 2012Just purchased a sandisk 64gb microsd. When I put it in, windows says it needs to be formatted. I went to format it as exfat but it only sees the drive as27gb. Same thing if I select ntfs. Is there something I am doing wrong or is this a faulty microsd card. If I use swissknife to look at the removable drives, it shows the drive as being 64GB and formatted already.

Sep 23, 2009i am doing an upgrade on my system my motherboard manual says my board can only take 1gb per a slot with a maximum of 4gb but on Crucial website it says my board can take 2gb per a slot so witch do belive as they are ment to be the ram masters and i would love to use more then just 4gb of memory but i don't want to go and buy 8gb of ram and my board not support 2gb sticks so if anyone can help me witch to belive then please do cheers
EDIT here is what crucial says on ther site after ther scan Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-6400,DDR2 PC2-5300,DDR2 PC2-8500 with a maximum of 2GB per slot.* but my manual says my board can only use 533mhz but i am using 667mhz right now .

Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media"I have copied the entire contents of the Asus P8P67-M CD onto an additional USB stick and have selected each individual folder through the browse option.The only "files" that come up as compatible are"Intel(R) 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller - 1C02"I tried installing this and got the same error message as before. I than went to the Asus website and downloaded the only "SATA" driver there which is the Marvel Controller. Tried this one as well and still same error.

I just decided to swap it out with a 256 GB Crucial M4 SSD, however, and I can't get the installation to work. Mobo recognizes the drive, and the Win7 installer sees it. When I try to actually install, the "Copying files:" dialog stays at 0% for about 2 minutes, and then it immediately goes to "Expanding Files". When the system reboots, I get a fatal error. I made sure to set my mobo to AHCI mode and to enable ACPI.

Sep 14, 2012I've spent my whole day trying to figure out what is going on with this to no avail What I've Done:Installed Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit OS on Crucial M4 drive that was acting up and freezing Continued freezing after installing drivers, stable for 10-30mins then freeze, requires hard reset every time updated FW to 000F as recommended, same deal swapped ports with platter drive, same deal took drive in to where I bought it from, they said all stress tests etc went fine Pretty much at my wits end. I'm fairly convinced its nothing else since I am running on the seperate mechanical drive fine.
