I'm putting together a HTPC using a ASUS E35M1-I Deluxe (AMD Zacate mobo/cpu combo), 30GB Kingston SSD, and 4Gb Crucial DDR3 1066.Problem is when I boot from the Windows install disk I get the "Windows is Loading Files" status bar but when it gets the end it just hangs there. Usually it boots right into the next Windows loading screen. So before I start troubleshooting I want to make sure there's nothing special I need to do with the SSD before installing Windows. Its a brand new drive but I'm pretty certain during the installation process there's a Format option. The Windows install disk was burned from an ISO using IMG Burn at 16x. Before I left for work I started another burn (with img verification) at 8x. But I'm not certain that will help. I've burned plenty of images at 16x speeds without issue.
I recently got a PC that my office was getting rid of. The PC was in great shape and I was told it worked fine when they gave it to me. They ripped out the hard drive and gave me the machine. As soon as I got it, I put a brand new 2Tb Seagate HDD in. I also replaced the existing RAM (2x1Gb sticks) with 2x 2Gb sticks with the memory speed to match my motherboard. Finally I swapped out the ATI Radeon HD2900XT with a Nvidia Geforce GTX 460. There was a sound card (PCI) I removed as well as a redundant firewire port I unhooked from the Mobo. I then booted and peformed a fresh install of Windows 7 32bit Pro. Everything seemed to be going fine... until I tried to shut down. Windows would freeze on the Shutting Down screen. I mean freeze because the spinning circle would stop and the entire machine was unresponsive.
I read online that pre-Service Pack 1 Windows 7 didn't like multi-core processers and would have issues shutting down, so I updated to SP1 (along with a bunch of other updates). Now when I try to shut down, the Shutting Down screen disappears and the signal to the monitor ends, however the machine stays on. I can hear the fans running and see the lights to the PCI cards still on. Once again I have no option but to hold the power button until it shuts down. One extra note I double checked every driver and they are all up to day. Also when I boot in Safe Mode the PC shuts down fine and I have no problem restarting, just shutting down...
Just reinstalled Windows on a new Samsung PM 830 SSD. Can't tell if its the SSD or the other things that I have installed. Sometimes it gives the BSOD screen, sometimes Explorer just goes missing and Task Manager would be unavailable. These days the BSODs come more often and with little warning.
I'm running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. My my laptop is about 6 months old with 8gb RAM. I have recently done a fresh install and ever since then I'm getting random screen freezes (it never happened before fresh install)... the mouse, keys, ctrl alt delete etc.wont respond and the only way out is to hold down power and restart.I thought it could be a RAM problem but I have checked with memtest with no problems found. I have also scanned with malwarbytes antimalware with nothing found.
I keep getting BlueScreen errors and the pc is restarting after I switched motherboards from a gigabyte p55-usb3 to a biostar t5xe cfx-sli. I kept all the same components except I added another gtx 470. Thermal paste was freshly applied all around, all the idle and load temps seem normal. 30c/50c cpu and 40c/85c gpu.
1. Installed Win 7 Prof 64 bit on freshly formatted hard drive 2. Installed Drivers from motherboard cd (Biostar T5XE CFX-SLI) 3. Ran Windows update for awhile, restarted a few times, installed other programs 4. While browsing the net the pc shutdown and gave me a prompt upon startup with a "problem event name: bluescreen"
It also gave me the locations of a dump and a system file which I have included in the Shutdown #1 file.
1. After reviewing the error and searching the web I had read that it could be a possible heat issue, which didn't make sense as the first time I was just browsing the web. Idle the CPU is 30c and the GPU (SLI) is 40c for each card. 2. I downloaded the Unigine Heaven benchmark and ran it 3. PC shutdown in the middle of the benchmark and gave me different results in the post shutdown message. Files are in the Shutdown #2 file.
I used arctic silver on the cpu and on the gpu's. Everything is connected tightly and the only other thing installed is a wireless pci card which should have no problem. I used to use the exact same components on a gigabyte board (p55-usb3). The only reason I installed the Biostar Motherboard was to install another GTX 470 and run SLI.Everything seems normal as far as temps, the pc isn't slow, etc.I just decided to turn it off to avoid any possible damage and take the files I grabbed and post on a forum. This seemed like a good place to continue.
I am presently trying to installed Win 7 via USB onto a Crucible 128g SSD.As soon as I select language setting I get a warning that "No new devices could be found. Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media"I have copied the entire contents of the Asus P8P67-M CD onto an additional USB stick and have selected each individual folder through the browse option.The only "files" that come up as compatible are"Intel(R) 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller - 1C02"I tried installing this and got the same error message as before. I than went to the Asus website and downloaded the only "SATA" driver there which is the Marvel Controller. Tried this one as well and still same error.
how to to install Windows 7 Home Premium on a brand new Crucial Real SSD c300 64bg drive? Is there anything special I should know or do? It will be installed on my first build.
I have been experiencing random reboots with my fresh Win 7 x64 build. I am suspecting either a bad ram sticks or ATI video card issue. I have attached the minidump and performance report logs.
I built a computer about a month ago and ever since the first attempt to install windows it has been giving me blue screens. The computer is working someone fine most of the time now, but still has a daily to twice a day blue screen error. I have done everything that google has said (Memtest, driver updates, HDD diagnostics, BIOS update, check registry, scan for virus, etc.)
for the last few days my computer has started to hang at random times. It could be 1 min or 15 min after start up and does not look to be linked to any 1 program. when it happens the computer will slow down for a min then I just get the round circle icon and nothing works, I cant even do Ctr Alt Del. I have done AVG scan and Superantispyware and all was fine apart from tracking cookies. I have also taken most unused programs out of MSCONFIG startup and still no luck.I will try and run the SysInfo tool and Hijackthis on the computwer now and post the results (Im using a different computer to post this)When it starts to slow Task manager, if i have it open in time, shows nothing strange cpu between 0% and 20%
I was having this problem earlier too, but i reinstalled windows 7 and now it was fine till i today used windows update to install service pack one. Now im getting hangs again.
No BSOD's have been seen yet, but its hanging up yeah(Screen freezes, keyboard lights go out and voice outputs a big 'ZZZZZZZZ' ) I cant provide much more detail
I have just got a new computer and windows 7 home premium was installed by the technician. He said it was all set to go. However, when I got home and connected the computer it does not seem to be doing anything as if it is hanging in cyber somewhere.
I have been having random reboots and sometimes hard-hangs whenever I am starting to play any PC games after start-up. I have to keep resetting and run through any checks I could think of but the checks always find everything to be okay. Sometimes I do get BSOD and I remember vaguely something about SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION and also the DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL phrases.[CODE]
[code] Now here is what has been going on since 26/05, While I was playing "World of Tanks" the game froze, sound was stuck and screen turned black with white stripes, I had to force a restart, the minidump was accusing a dll file of nvidia's which when I searched for on the internet it sounded like a random hiccup of Nvidia and it only happened once so I ignored it. But the game started crashing to the desktop since then but not very often, it never did that with my older pc, so I don't know if it's from the game side or my side.Yesterday around 8pm, I was about to transfer a 7gig folder from my main disk to the storage disk, as soon as I opened the partition that I was transfering to, I had a blue screen saying only "Unknown hard error", I force restarted and the MB resat the Bios and it restarted again and since then windows wouldn't boot, it kept asking for repair and during that repair it said "System was unable to boot" several times and after the many repair runs it kept saying it failed to fix the problem.Then I unplugged my storage HDDs and only left the system HDD, booted from windows 7 DVD and tried to repair but still said it couldn't fix the problem, in the report it said there was a problem with ci.dll, so I started "command" tried these commands (bootrec.exe /fixboot, bootrec.exe /fixmbr, bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd) after that I restarted and windows booted perfectly, right after that I shut down the computer, plugged in the 2 other HDDs, windows booted perfectly then all of the sudden, the keyboard wasn't responding (not even it's leds were working) same thing with my mouse, I looked at the HDD led and it wasn't doing anything at all, no small flickers or anything, so I force restarted, it booted like normal, I started to transfer a folder to 1 of my storage HDDs, opened up firefox, it was acting really slow, everything I was doing on it was lagging although nothing was draining the CPU or ram or anything, opened few pages, when the transfer was about to finish, the pc restarted.
After the restart, the event log says "kernal power" event id 41, category 63 and it didn't give me any minidumps. Anyway I went to sleep around 3AM, left my downloads running and was hopping nothing would happen but something sure happened, the event log says at 4:30 AM "The Windows Modules Installer service entered the stopped state." then no new events till 6:45 AM which was a warning saying "TCP/IP has chosen to restrict the scale factor due to a network condition. This could be related to a problem in a network device and will cause degraded throughput." No other events till I had waken up at 10:37 and found the monitor turned off not responding, HDD led completely off, no flickers, basically nothing was responding.So here I'm don't know what the hell am I supposed to do, I have a decent knowledge regarding windows problems, but this problem is too open and wide, is it 1 of my hard disks? is it the lonely GPU I have right now? is it the ram? is it the CPU? I need some guidance on how to eliminate each of them.before the MB resat the Bios, the CPU was overclocked to 4.2GHz and I tested it many times and it was very stable, so when the system hanged after the boot problem was fixed, there was no overclocking involved, there was no heating issue, temps were normal, I have a 1000w plus gold certified PSU.
I plan on reformatting Windows 7 x64 due to some hardware issues. Basically, I would like to be able to have things like Windows 7 settings, themes, ect imported. Any tips on how to do this? I do have separate partitions/harddrives to backup files, program data, ect.
My work machine's HDD is on its way out. It currently has XP Pro x86 on it. I got a fresh new HDD and upgrade version of Win7 x64 Pro.
I booted from the Win7 x64 disc, it went through its whole install thing on the new HDD, and then when it got to the product key, it wouldn't accept the one that came in the box. I read on the web that upgrade versions must have XP or Vista already installed for it to work.
But, the 7 documentation says I have to do a Custom install if I'm upgrading from XP. A custom installation deletes whatever is on the partition, I think. So how can it work when upgrading from XP?
I have actually gone back and installed XP on the new HDD (that had its own share of problems, couldn't even get the internet connection working), and now trying to do a custom installation of 7 again. When it gets to the product key section, should I put in my original XP product key? Or will the 7 product key work this time?
So I will be doing a new install of win7 pro x64 on my newly built rig. My questions should i go ahead and do the install and then install SP1 or install, get updates and wait until SP1 is pushed.I have a disk with the full SP1.
I have been getting bsods recently at first it was only when trying to play BF3 i couldnt play for more than 5 min before bsod. now its moving its way into normal functions.i will include a dx diag and cpu z .txt file Here are the reports from the time frame i recieved the bsod. Iwill also include the one i got last night before i gave up.Let me know if there is anything else I should include
I had a lot of trouble with blue screens on this system (as per profile) with a previous installation too, but never got round to dealing with it properly. So now, it's a less than week old installation that I've put very few things on yet, but crashes a *lot* when I try to run games. Does blue screen outside of this, just not as much.
The error codes vary, but most common is IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL.
I'm just wondering how to do a fresh install of windows 7, as it keeps freezing lately, ive tried system restore but keeps coming up that it hasn't done it...so id rather re-install from scratch again so ive got nothing on my system...Any help would be appreciated
I am getting an SSD drive & going to be doing a fresh install of Windows 7. While I understand the process of configuring your system for usage of the drive (unplug the other drives so the SSD is only one connected while installing, turning off prefetch, etc).The part I'm confused with is how to move the users folder so it defaults to the "D" drive. I get I can "Move" the folder, Add the "Location" or do the "robocopy" method & create a junction.
A new Samsung 840 pro SSD is on it's way with the courier and I will remove my present OCZ and will install a fresh Windows 7 pro. At present I have the SSD divided in 2 partitions C:system and D:Programs my first question regards the opportunity to keep the 2 partitions: is it good or bad for the SSD?
1) make an iso of partition D:programs 2) remove OCZ econnect the Samsung SSD 3) Check Uefi bios if AHCI is marked 4) Install 7 on C: (automatic alignment od the SSD) 5) Create partition D:
??Optimize?? Is it better to do it at this stage? Or after having installed various programs? I think at this stage but would appreciate your suggestions including what sort of optimization is advisable. I could eventually use RT7.Then I would copy from the iso all the programs on their own place D: and from the various distribution files will make the various setup (just for the programs to be registered in the Registry)
FInally got an SSD! Now I just need to install it onto an SSD.. could someone give me an explanation on that? My motherboard is the Asrock Z77 Extreme 4. I am currently running Windows 8 (I will update 7 to this later on down again) on a regular hard drive (slow 5400 RPM Samsung HD)
i am doing an upgrade on my system my motherboard manual says my board can only take 1gb per a slot with a maximum of 4gb but on Crucial website it says my board can take 2gb per a slot so witch do belive as they are ment to be the ram masters and i would love to use more then just 4gb of memory but i don't want to go and buy 8gb of ram and my board not support 2gb sticks so if anyone can help me witch to belive then please do cheers
EDIT here is what crucial says on ther site after ther scan Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-6400,DDR2 PC2-5300,DDR2 PC2-8500 with a maximum of 2GB per slot.* but my manual says my board can only use 533mhz but i am using 667mhz right now .
I tried to install win 7 64x (clean install) on a Crucial C300 128MB SSD. Win seemed to install but when I go to boot up I get a black blank screen and nothing happens.
I have a homebuilt desktop with an ASUS P6T mobo. Everything seems to be working correctly hardware-wise; my old boot HDD was working fine. I just decided to swap it out with a 256 GB Crucial M4 SSD, however, and I can't get the installation to work. Mobo recognizes the drive, and the Win7 installer sees it. When I try to actually install, the "Copying files:" dialog stays at 0% for about 2 minutes, and then it immediately goes to "Expanding Files". When the system reboots, I get a fatal error. I made sure to set my mobo to AHCI mode and to enable ACPI.
