Windows 7 Slow To Obtain DHCP
Jan 8, 2010My PC is very fast, boot up is fast and when I first installed Windows 7, it used to obtain an IP address almost instantly.....now, after a few weeks use, the machine takes a lot longer to initiliase the networking, once it obtains the IP address, then everything else loads at quick speed and it runs fine.I'm using an ASUS P5Q-E motherboard, with dual Marvell-Yukon Gigabit NICS (although only one is enabled) and a DLINK ADSL modem-router.The router isn't the problem as other PCs connect to the network fine - And I'm sure it's not the network cards as I've downloaded and installed the latest ASUS approved version of the marvell-yukon WIN7 driver.I've experimented with installing / uninstalling the NIC, letting it use standard WIN7 drivers instead, trying a couple of different versions of the NIC driver but all to no avail. It's really annoying, as my PC is very fast normally and this is the only thing causing a slow delay on boot (it takes about 20-30 seconds to initialise DHCP).

May 27, 2011Not to long ago, I removed the HD from my laptop and slipped into an enclosure so that I could access information I had saved. When I initially did it all, I thought it was just a matter of connecting the enclosure to my tower and having it pop up like it would on a USB. Jul 12, 2012A friend of mine is asking me to help him setup an internet cafe. I've heard of volume licenses for operating systems and other software. After 2 days frustration I'm here. I'm wanting to purchase volume licenses for windows 7 home and microsoft office 2010 for 8 pcs. I've been to microsoft licensewise tool and after 3 hours to get the tool to work, it's not available in my country. So I select the closest but it's showing that it'll cost me $60,000. Buying single units is less than this! So something is wrong, I can't find any help. Hopefully someone else has done something like this? Or is there another way?

Dec 31, 2009I have a Xbox360 connected to my laptop via cable, then connect to Xbox Live wireless though a Linksys router (G 2.4 ghz). Everything works fine with my +6 year old laptop running XP home, but there is a little lag with one game.
So I bought a new Asus laptop that came with Windows 7 operating system. I tried to connect to Xbox Live the same way as I did with my old laptop, but it will not connect. The lap has a good wireless connection to the internet. (same connection as the old laptop).
I have enabled sharing in the network options. Reconfigured the xbox 360s IP address manually, automatically, and restored the factory setting, Still no connection.
Manually changed addressing on the laptop. Still no connection. The Error message on the Xbox is: Can't obtain an IP address from your router or modem.
Called Xbox tech support, Spend over an hour trying to fix the problem. We did everything. Turning the system on and off, modem on and off. reconfiguring the IP addresses manually, automatically, restoring factory settings, Changing the network setting on the laptop, enabling sharing, and so on. Still unable to fix the problem. The tech support person stated, it is a Windows 7 problem and he is unable to fix it.
I reconnected the old laptop and it connects fine without any issues. The old laptop has one foot in the recycle bin, and I would like to be able to use the New Laptop to connect.
I know the either-net cable works fine. I know I have a good wireless connection to the laptop. (Comcast).
The port on the laptop works with my printer. So I'm sure that's good. I have enable network sharing in the network settings. I have tried changing the IP addresses. Any suggestions?

Nov 5, 2012I've had an extremely frustrating day trying to connect my WDTV Live to my desktop? I connect to the net through a wireless connection to my router. Because its in the other room, I can't connect my WDTV Live to the router without running cable along the floor. Having said that, its not far away from my desktop PC, so I'm trying to connect them directly via cable. The problem is that my WD keeps telling me that it can't obtain an IP address and I don't know how to fix it or what values to put in.

My problem is: Whenever I try to print something (word, pdf, or any other file); printer spooler stops working and when I check the Devices and Printers all the printer drivers seem to be disappeared. I checked the Print Spooler" in the Services tool; and set the "Recovery after subsequent failures" option to Restart the Serviceā. Therefore all the printer drives coma back after 1 minute. However the spooler stops immediately again when the uncompleted printing job starts; hence I can not print anything more than a page. Earlier in this forum, someone posted that Microsoft issued a hotfix for this problem ( hotfix 2388142) which can be downloaded from article: [URL]. I downloaded this hotfix and tried to install, however it gives an error message of: The update is not applicable to your computer and quits installation. I did uninstall and reinstall all the printer drives, but this did not help either.

No (Copy 1). So I removed the (Copy 2) printer and fax.I went back to CD Label print and saw that it still said MX850 and MX850 (Copy 1). Went back to devices and printers and sure enough, MX850 was gone and MX850 (Copy 1) was present. So I pressed F5. It changed to MX850. Press F5 again, it changed back to MX850 (Copy 1).It changes non-stop. It alternates betweem the two settings every time I press F5.I've tried uninstall re-install. I've also contacted Canon support who are dumbfounded. I also had to manually remove the registry entries and start menu entries because the canon uninstaller doesn't so it.I cannot use CD Label print. Each time I try to print a label it insists on asking where to save the file, rather than printing it.
