While the computer is running windows after I log on it doesn't do it only during the password part. Or can I just take out the password setting to bypass that all together?

May 27, 2011Not to long ago, I removed the HD from my laptop and slipped into an enclosure so that I could access information I had saved. When I initially did it all, I thought it was just a matter of connecting the enclosure to my tower and having it pop up like it would on a USB. How To Obtain Multiple Licenses
Jul 12, 2012A friend of mine is asking me to help him setup an internet cafe. I've heard of volume licenses for operating systems and other software. After 2 days frustration I'm here. I'm wanting to purchase volume licenses for windows 7 home and microsoft office 2010 for 8 pcs. I've been to microsoft licensewise tool and after 3 hours to get the tool to work, it's not available in my country. So I select the closest but it's showing that it'll cost me $60,000. Buying single units is less than this! So something is wrong, I can't find any help. Hopefully someone else has done something like this? Or is there another way?

Jan 8, 2010My PC is very fast, boot up is fast and when I first installed Windows 7, it used to obtain an IP address almost instantly.....now, after a few weeks use, the machine takes a lot longer to initiliase the networking, once it obtains the IP address, then everything else loads at quick speed and it runs fine.I'm using an ASUS P5Q-E motherboard, with dual Marvell-Yukon Gigabit NICS (although only one is enabled) and a DLINK ADSL modem-router.The router isn't the problem as other PCs connect to the network fine - And I'm sure it's not the network cards as I've downloaded and installed the latest ASUS approved version of the marvell-yukon WIN7 driver.I've experimented with installing / uninstalling the NIC, letting it use standard WIN7 drivers instead, trying a couple of different versions of the NIC driver but all to no avail. It's really annoying, as my PC is very fast normally and this is the only thing causing a slow delay on boot (it takes about 20-30 seconds to initialise DHCP).

Dec 31, 2009I have a Xbox360 connected to my laptop via cable, then connect to Xbox Live wireless though a Linksys router (G 2.4 ghz). Everything works fine with my +6 year old laptop running XP home, but there is a little lag with one game.
So I bought a new Asus laptop that came with Windows 7 operating system. I tried to connect to Xbox Live the same way as I did with my old laptop, but it will not connect. The lap has a good wireless connection to the internet. (same connection as the old laptop).
I have enabled sharing in the network options. Reconfigured the xbox 360s IP address manually, automatically, and restored the factory setting, Still no connection.
Manually changed addressing on the laptop. Still no connection. The Error message on the Xbox is: Can't obtain an IP address from your router or modem.
Called Xbox tech support, Spend over an hour trying to fix the problem. We did everything. Turning the system on and off, modem on and off. reconfiguring the IP addresses manually, automatically, restoring factory settings, Changing the network setting on the laptop, enabling sharing, and so on. Still unable to fix the problem. The tech support person stated, it is a Windows 7 problem and he is unable to fix it.
I reconnected the old laptop and it connects fine without any issues. The old laptop has one foot in the recycle bin, and I would like to be able to use the New Laptop to connect.
I know the either-net cable works fine. I know I have a good wireless connection to the laptop. (Comcast).
The port on the laptop works with my printer. So I'm sure that's good. I have enable network sharing in the network settings. I have tried changing the IP addresses. Any suggestions?

Nov 5, 2012I've had an extremely frustrating day trying to connect my WDTV Live to my desktop? I connect to the net through a wireless connection to my router. Because its in the other room, I can't connect my WDTV Live to the router without running cable along the floor. Having said that, its not far away from my desktop PC, so I'm trying to connect them directly via cable. The problem is that my WD keeps telling me that it can't obtain an IP address and I don't know how to fix it or what values to put in.

May 22, 2011i am trying to create a new site in dreamweaver. the site will have a coldfusion extension (.cfm). i am the only user on my notebook so i have complete administrator privileges. however, when i try to save the site in the c:inetpubwwwroot folder (because that's where coldfusion applications are saved) i always get an error.the error says: "you don't have permission to save to this location. contact the administrator to obtain permission" i thought i was the administrator? i am unable to change the settings in the security tab in the properties panel either. that is the extent of my troubleshooting capabilities.

Headphone Amplification And Better Sound Sans Sound Card
Oct 21, 2012I've solved my gaming graphics issues, namely by choosing the parts I wanted rather than buying yet another "Media-Center"-style all-in-one unit that did everything, but not very well, I'm now in need of a solution to my present awful headphone sound quality. I have a generic Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card that is not very good, sound-wise, and, because it doesn't even include an optical out plug, goes unused. I purchased a refurbished Turtle Beach headset w/DSS decoder, and, while it works as advertised, the headphones are terrible for music. I've replaced the TB Headset with a much better-sounding Pyle set, and will buy some "real" headphones as soon as I've determined that the source itself is sending out a good-sounding signal.I've seen pro and con arguments about sound cards, like the Xonar series that have headphone amplification included. My issue with that is I am more concerned with the graphics for games, and I've built this system with SLI (another gtx580) in mind, and I do not see enough room under or in between the dual GPUs for proper installation of such huge sound cards, though I'm glad to have my ignorance in this area demonstrated. The anti-Sound card group seems to be gravitating towards a separate headphone amplifier, and I"ve seen them from the $20 dollar model included free with another headset I purchased, to the $1800 tube amps. I think I would like to either go this route, or purchase a home stereo receiver that can output the PC sound, thus having both satisfactory amplification for low-volume music listening( or ear-bleeding levels, if desired) and the ability to power speakers elsewhere. I guess what I'm asking is for some entry-level priced PC headphone amplifiers to start off with. I see countless rating comments for the FiiO series, and while the prices are certainly attractive, the fact that they're so low-priced also makes me leery of their actual amplification abilities while staying neutral in tone.

Jun 6, 2009I just bought a new pc from Dell. I opted out of buying the SB sound card they had as an option and now I am sorta regretting that. I loaded RC 7100 as soon as I got the machine and after going through this forum I am sorta left with the impression that SB cards don't work with Win 7. Is that really the case?
I was looking at an "Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card" but if it will just cause me grief it's not worth it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can get and not pull my hair out trying to get it to work? The main game I play sounds sorta mediocre with the on-board sound.
