Windows 7 Install: Select A Driver To Install
Jan 10, 2011I have recently finished building my computer and brought a copy of windows 7 (home premium) 64bit to go with it. But when I try to install I never get past "collecting information" where I am being asked to "Select A Driver To Install" as a driver for my "DVD Device" is missing (apparently). I assumed that the driver I needed would be on my motherboard driver disk. I clicked the disk and told it to "rescan" and it only said "There's no device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers". When I navigate directly to the sata,raid & ide drivers sometimes I get a: nVidia nForce Serial ATA Controller on the screen but when I click on that it says the same thing after about 10 seconds or tells me it cannot install and I need to get a new driver from my distributor (I have tried the drivers of the Asus website but the same result). What do I do?

250gb HD (sata)
DVD-ROM (IDE)
Note: it's brand new and doesn't have an existing windows installation.

May 23, 2011I also have a Liteon ihas424 98B DVD writer, that win7-64 will not recognize during install (but it reads the win7 install DVD..) Installed win7-32 and all is fine. Used PLDS smartpack utility to update the DVD firmware, to latest level. Ran twice, 2nd time no update. rebooted to win7-64 install dvd, win7-64 install still pops error right before unpacking files, CD/DVD driver missing... I gotta say huh? win7-32 has the driver, 64 does not?I will try to find another win7-64 install dvd.

Jul 26, 2010This was my first time building a computer and everything went smoothly until the Windows 7 64bit installation. Right after the installation starts, a box pops up that says a "Required CD/DVD drive driver is not found" and that I can take out my Windows CD to install the driver. My CD/DVD drive is a LiteOn iHAS424-98 and the manual says that it should be ready for installation with Windows 7 without any drivers. The drive did come with a CD for Nero 9 and drivers/manuals, but when I put that CD in at the appropriate time, it still says no drivers are found. I looked at reviews for the drive on newegg and most of them said their installation went smoothly, but a couple seemed to have similar problems. However, each time they seemed to be caused by different things. I do not have another copy of Windows so I am trying to find solutions other than buying another copy. I'm not sure what's going on with it.

Mar 16, 2011I have a brand new printer Canon IP4850. The driver installed like a dream on an old desktop win XP, on my laptop which is Win 7 32bit. Only on the Acer Desktop Win 7 home edition 64bit it refuses. Windows claim it encountered a "catastrophical error" (????) and error 0x080000FFFF. I tried the driver on the cd which came with the printer, I tried the download from the Canon site: nothing. Microsoft claims it is a Canon problem and Canon states it is a Microsoft problem. I tried to rename the softwaredistribution folder (result: 0). As to me there is something in the setup of Windows (Acer only delivers image dvd's, not original Windows dvd's) which stops drivers from installing. As this desktop is the printerserver of the house, I would like to get it to work!

Have tried to resolve issue with Canon powershot S50 connected by USB no longer functioning with W7.On occasions the only response is the pop up message driver device failed to install.The camer is recognised under " Device and Printers" When I trouble shoot response is to visit manufacturers site and download driver - not required under Windows compatibility listing.Have gone to Device Manager and removed all reference to Canon Camera under Portable devices but get same result. Have had a Microsoft IT tech look at the computer but he is at a loss.

Oct 2, 2011I had my 8600 working fine but I had to update drivers. So I uninstalled the current driver because I couldnt update. Now My comp wont even recognize the hardware so I am stuck in 800 x 600 and in device manager it says "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and it wont detect my 8600m gt.
Ive downloaded the most current drivers from NVIDIA but it says no compatibel hardware was found and it cannot install. So I went into it manually and went: Update Driver Software -> Browse my comp -> let me pick from a list of device drivers on my comp (now here it only shows the "Standard VGA Graphics Adapeter") ->Have disk -> DISPLAY.DRIVER folder -> then it shows me a huge list of all available dirivers. the problem is there are at least 30 different 8600m gt ones to choose from. I tried a few and it said "The driver slected for this device does not support this version of windows"

Dec 20, 2009i was trying to get drivers for my printer. After restart, screen went black. I restarted in safe mode with netwking to find out what to do. So I eventually found out my graphics card had no driver; it had a generic vga adapter. So I search for my graphics card to find it is an Nvidia GeForce fx 5200 and I get the drivers for it.
I restart in normal mode: no success. restart in safe' with net' . starts and am notified that drivers have installed. Now on next restart in normal mode, application error 0xc150002...press ok. Then i get a message in the bottom right hand corner that says 'windows is not genuine build 7600'.
I have seen how to change it with/without cmd, but either requires normal mode.
So how do I re enter my product key?

Wireless.1 partition of 640gb im using perfectly windows 7 with nothing fail. but im about to fail now because my windows system now are so crash.i never backup anything. but installing to many games at once.so the sistem start to crash after i dont have an antivirus for 2weeks. and my hardosk is about 36.0KB free of 600GB now the hardisk drive have back about 70gb after several delete.i buy a leptop with already installed fresh windows. So No Windows 7 DVD.firstly with the error 2203. internal error where i have limited in installing and uninstalling program that use windows Installer. i cant even install angry birds!when im trying to update several driver manually after windows update fail.My bluetooth start to fail, Showing error 43(Device Manager). then i rollback. it shows error 10.device cannot start. even if i restart windows 7 several times.i managed to clean this error 2203 with 1month google and trying several. BUT, it starting to be weird after that.So, after all this mess i've created. im starting to think for no more solution instead of FRESH SYSTEM INSTALL.

Aug 31, 2012Yesterday I bought a new ASUS A55A laptop and was installing basic programs (Chrome, iTunes, Photoshop). I installed EASEUS partition manager and tried to resize the partitions. I tried because there was an error and now Windows will not boot.So.I read up on the subject: tried to active the ASUS recovery using F9, doesn't work. I opted to try and reinstall Windows using both an installation DVD and USB. Easy enough, just that I get prompted to look for the CD/DVD unit's driver.I've read various threads about it, but none of the things I've tried (different USB ports, downloading all sorts of drivers from the official ASUS page) seem to work.
