View 5 Replies View RelatedOk, I know this is a sore subject, but are there any work-a-rounds to get handy programs like PortableApps to at least be an option to run when you plug it in? It kind of defeats the purpose of the whole thing. I'm not plugging in rogue USB sticks from strangers in dark alleys, just my own USB hard drives. It get really annoying when you have to drill into your own drive 20 times a day just to double click the exe to run the dang thing you know is safe.
Someone in another thread posed Autorunner.exe, but it doesn't seem to do anything at all.

my friend tried to transfer some pictures into my laptop by blutooth he is using HTC sensation, but after the whole thing is done, there is a system folder left behind i tried to delete it but when i right click on it, a dialog box appears that the windows explorer stopped working, my computer just became very slow, like its running on 100 programs at a time, it took a very long time just to move the cursor to close the dialog box, yeah i cant delete the system folder i tried to google about this but i didnt found a similar problem with mine, tried to delete the registry method but it didnt work as a new folder appears instead, i dont want to do anything further relating to registry thing as i am afraid that i would corrupt some important files.
View 14 Replies View RelatedIt appears that Microsoft has disabled the Autorun feature for USB devices in Windows 7. If you create an appropriate Autorun.inf file on your USB drive, Vista (and XP?) will happily run the program it points to when you plug the device in, but in Windows 7 that is no longer the case. I've read a few news articles explaining that this is by design, out of security concerns.
While I understand and even agree with the reasoning, I was wondering whether there was a way (perhaps in the Group Policy editor, or some Registry hack) to override or bypass this?
I have just created a nice autorun feature to enable me to mount a TrueCrypt-encrypted container on my USB stick, but that no longer works in Windows 7. (Can't use BitLocker as I still need uncrypted access to the root of the drive in order for BitLocker to allow Windows 7 to start on my fully encrypted C:-drive).
I tried looking around on the net and here, but I wasn't able to find what I was looking for.
I want to put in a dvd and have dvdshrink lunch automatically. Anyone have ideas?
In trying to look/install some missing files, I went to use my Windows 7 Home disk for repair. It would not work. Instead I got the following message: "Autorun.dll could not be loaded or is corrupt. Setup cannot continue. Error code is [OX7E].". I received the same message when I tried install MS Office 2010. As a side note, I've been unsuccessful in several install attempts of the Windows 7 SP Pack 1.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to relocate my Users folder into another HDD to save space on my OS HDD by using this guide: Move the Users Directory in Windows 7 I am currently inside cmd on the Win7 Ultimate Edition(x64) DVD and have executed the following commands with some edited results next to them:
robocopy /copyall /mir /xj D:Users C:Users
"Directories skipped: 51 Files failed: 1"
(Cmd interpreted my C: drive to be the D: drive and my target HDD to be C: in recovery mode)
robocopy /copyall /mir /xj D:Users C:Users
"Directories skipped: 2114 Files failed: 1"
[code]....
Things I have tried:
1) Enabled hidden administrator logon and logged onto it.
2) Edited user permission for entire drive and set to 'full control'
3) verified the folder is not locked/in-use even deleted it and then restored
Still has the stupid 'read only' box checked when you hit Properties. I am updating Starcraft 2 and get a file creation error during patching. The read only setting is the only thing I can think to change other than full uninstall -> reinstall.
edit: Just tried doing it in elevated command prompt and the R flag for readonly is not present at all even looking all sub-folders with the /S switch. So apparently its not read only but explorer is noting it so in 'properties' ... very strange.
I have windows seven home premium on a lenevo 3000 N100.I was running Super Anti spyware free edition and it said that a folder in my documents which contained 2 MP3 files and 2 image files was corrupt. I know it was not like that to begin with as I downloaded it on Jan 7 and have listened to the songs a few times since then. I can't delete it because it is corrupt. It recommends I run chkdsk. I go to it by going to my computer, drive c, properties, tools, check disk. Then it says it can't run it when windows is in use and asks if I'd like to schedule a scan the next time I turn on my computer. I have restarted and shut down my computer atleast 5 times now and it will not start that scan, it'll just boot up like it normally would.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure how to remove the lock icon over some of my folders. It appear if I share one of my folder with the Homegroup and unshare it later. I think it is because when I share it with my homegroup, the Everyone/Cooperation (I'm not sure to use the good word, I'm using the french version) option disapear and I can't add it anymore.By default :Once shared and unshared : (can't add Everyone - Cooperation, which cause I presume the lock on the folder)My only option is to share it again with the Homegroup or with Everyone with Read instead of Cooperation. I don't want this folder to be shared anymore.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 150GB FAT32 External Hard Disk which shows up as 'Local Disk (J:)' in My Computer. I right-clicked it, and renamed it to 'T4 (J:)' but it still shows up as 'Local Disk (J:)'! I tried various names but still it shows up as 'Local Disk (J:)' in My Computer. So I went to 'Disk Management' to try and change the label from there and, what do you know, Disk Partition (J:) shows 'T4 (J:)'It turns out that this could be an 'autorun.inf' problem. I think that the 'autorun.inf' of my ext-HDD has a parameter like 'label=Local Disk' or something similar. But now, the problem is that I can't access 'autorun.inf' at all. No rename, no delete, no edit. I tried changing it's attributes from an elevated command prompt but still no luck. No matter what I try, in the end I get an 'Access is Denied' error. All I want is for my ext-HDD to be labeled as 'T4 (J:)' in My Computer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to know if it's possible to make autorun files in windows 7. I've read a bit on the net and saw that some say it is not possible, but it must be; otherwise, how would hackers use autorun files in Windows 7?
I had a game setup in my pen mixed with a lot of other important things for the installation. I wanted to make an autorun file that would do the following:
1- you plug the pen;
2- the program would start immediately (without autoplay).
Let's say the file is named "setup.exe". I created the following autorun.inf: [autorun] open=setup.exe It didn't work.. probably because I am using windows 7. So, how do I create this?
Imagine I use Windows XP. Also imagine I had the setup.exe file in this location: F:/others/setup.exe I wanted to create an autorun that would start the setup.exe as soon as I plugged the pen in. How would the autorun.inf be like?
Boot is very slow (> 4 minutes) so trying 'autorun.exe' to check out 'entries' that may be causing slowdown.(msconfig has been used to reduce grossly unwanted items from starting.)
Under the Scheduled Tasks tab there are many 'entries' that have no Description or Publisher and in the Image Path field has 'File not found'.
Can (or should) these 'entries' be deleted?
I cannot get autorun to work in Windows 7 64 bit for the internal drives. I have tried every suggestion posted, including the command "shellhwdetection", as well as configuring it in the control panel, and nothing works. The USB drive does work, though. In addition, if I insert a disc in the internal drive and then click on the drive in windows explorer, it ejects the disc, so I can't even see what's on a disc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had a Dickens of a job trying to get AutoRun to work on a DVD containing HTML files. I've written various versions of AutoRun.INF ("Open=..."; Shellexecute=...") and so on. In desperation I built a Start.exe file in Flash and that worked, but I need my client to have the disk run automatically. I searched the web and eventually found this: How to Enable / Disable Autorun for a Drive (using Registry). Excellent - it worked!
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can I hide the Autoplay dialog from the autorun.inf file? I have a USB with two partitions: A bootable linux partition (recognized as a fake CD drive by windows) and the normal "Removable disk" partition, where I can store my files.
When I plug in my USB into any computer, I get two autoplay dialogs, which is very annoying. Is there any line I can put in Autorun.inf to disable the Autoplay dialog on the CD partition?
I tried
Code: [Autorun]
UseAutoplay=0 but it didn't work.
This website lists all autorun commands:Autorun.inf Entries
I couldn't delete a file named autorun.inf even i can't format it. so i can't install new xp os over older OS.
