View 1 RepliesWhen I install a game in Windows 7 and Windows recognizes it it dumps the game's shortcut in the Game folder of the Start Menu. That wouldn't be a problem except Windows 7 prevents the game from creating the shortcuts it would have created had the operating system not been Windows 7- things like the game's Read Me, Uninstaller & Configuration options.

However, although my game saves while the PC is on, as soon as I switch off the saved game is lost, (very annoying if you have completed 3 or 4 levels and have to start again). The other problem is that I can't find the saved game folder. It is not in the usual places ie appdata or programdata on the C drive.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI remember playing this game very very long ago. In the game, I was playing a ninja, and looking at the ninja from bird's eye view. There was many chapters in game, and if I remember right, at each end of the chapter, I had to kill a boss, more powerful monster. There was an old man with a beard, and he was giving me lessons, truths about some ninja stuff, life, etc... After finishing the game once, a better mode would be unlocked. We were a more powerful ninja, and able to kill monsters more easily. And it didn't have magnificent graphics, it was like a cartoon.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAs we all know, game compatibility frequently changed from build to build - some games that worked in older builds stopped working, and some games that did not work in older builds work in newer builds. Some of the latter can be attributed to patches put out but the game companies, and some can be attributed to the inclusion in Windows 7 missing components necessary to fulfill the total gaming experience of certain games.
That being said, there are now 2 lists to work with - the other list has been changed to a Pre-release list (and un-stickied), and this is now the official repository of games that work with the RTM. Read more at the forum...

I've stumbled upon a bit of a strange problem with my mouse. When I run a game of some sort my mouse starts to lag after a while, there is no lag in the rendering of the graphics just the movement of my mouse or mouse pointer. This can also occur randomly while just operating in windows without running any game 3D or non-3D, but if I unplug my USB mouse and plug it back in it starts working like normal. I have updated/re-installed the drivers for the mouse, also tried running without the special drivers for my mouse installed thus getting another aero related problem. But it works best with the drivers for the Razer Lachesis installed but as I mentioned before it the pointer starts lagging and if I just unplug and plug it back in it starts working so question is does anyone know what could cause this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new Win 7 set-up, and while I'm currently using my older (yet still great) CRT monitor, I just bought a nice LCD monitor, so I'll have two.I game often, but it'd be great if I could have the game up on one full screen (not sure if it's possible to do this or it must be played in a window) and an application on the other.I understand that I would have to alt-tab to transfer between the two, which is fine, but what I think would be most useful would be to, say, have the keyboard commands for the game (from a text file, .pdf, picture, etc.) on the second monitor, while I play the game on the first. Other good examples would be to have a map of the game (again, a picture found online, not a map from the game itself, to be clear) or spreadsheet of stats up on the second screen that I could reference during play.I ask because my understanding is that there are three modes for using dual monitors in Windows 7. One allows you to run both as one big desktop. The other mirrors the screen, so you have the exact same desktop duplicated. The final has one off and the other on.
This makes it sound as if the only option is to have the game run in a window on one screen and then open the application, picture, whatever sized to the other. What I was hoping for was to have the game fill the entirety of one monitor and have the desktop confined to just the other, and alt-tab between the two.

Earlier today, I deleted some files, including .dll files, to make space for the game (the files seemed useless). I probably shouldn't have done this. First, it popped up with an error that days I was missing a .dll file that was required to play the game, which I think I have fixed. Now, an error pops up saying: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application." How can I fix this problem?
View 22 Replies View RelatedI have an old game called City Life 2008 Edition, which works fine on my Windows XP PC, however apparently it isn't compatible with my Windows 7 laptop. It won't even let me install the game the first time I tried it started installing but then it froze and crashed. And now when I try to install it, when the screen comes up after you except the terms and conditions it asks you to choose a saving folder for the game, and the continue button is grey (inactive), so I can't install it!!
I figured it's not compatible, how do I make it compatible?
I tried going to 'my computer' after I inserted the disk and right clicking 'properties' but there isn't anything about compatibility.
Often, when I start up a game, it decides to crash my whole system resulting in a blue screen. Do note, however, that it has also crashed when not in a game, but only once or twice. My first thought was the ram, as it was and is giving a lot of memory errors, so I ran memtest for over 10 hours with no failures. My next thought was the CPU, so I ran prime 95 on blend and small ftt tests for over 8 hours which also proved to be stable. Next was the HDD, and I did everything from examining the SMART info to a long generic test. GPU was my last hope, but Furmark doesn't phase the card, and I even ran MemtestG80 which supposedly tests the GPUs memory as well. I do realize these tests are not the end all, and there could be a problem with any one of them that the tests didn't find. I have also reinstalled Windows Something curious happened when I ran memtest the other day. I had one stick in and left the room for a few minutes, only to come back to 7k+ errors. This was it I thought, I finally found out what was causing it. I wanted to test it again to make sure it wasn't a bug in the software, but it ran for 8 hours with no errors. So I'm lead to believe it's the ram, motherboard, memory cache, or psu. I am leaning away from the psu based on the fact that I get lucky and am able to play Skyrim on Ultra with no issue.I have attached several recent minidumps for anyone who is able to understand such things.

It started with the screen flipping back to desktop, as though ALT TAB had been pressed, no error messages,i just clicked the MTW2 icon on the side bar and returned to the game.Next the above mentioned behaviour started being accompanied by a message saying. "MM driver has stopped working" - since yesterday this message has stopped appearing.Last 2 days, whilst on the battle screen MTW2 just crashes with the Win 7 message box that says.this program has stopped working. It crashes all the time know whilst playing, but not immediatly, about after 15 - 20 minuetes on the battle map.Other events.Recently on boot up a box entitled "AML device install" would briefly appear after windows has loaded, i have disabled this in MSCONFIG - following web site advice. Power cable from wall socket to PSU blew, never had this before, simply replaced it. It was about 5 years old.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a bunch of game torrents yesterday from The Pirate Bay, ranging from Halo to Angry Birds. Each time I open the installer for any of these games (I've tried Angry Birds:Star Wars, Portal 1, and Halo 1), Windows acts as if it's loading something, and then goes back to normal, whether I run as an administrator or not. I have Win7 64-bit, 6 GB RAM, DirectX 11, an AMD Quad-Core 2.4GHz athlon II x4 610e processor, and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series graphics card. I also used Steam to run Portal:First Slice, a free demo, and it ran fine. The only problem I can think of is that they aren't the Windows 7 versions? I can't imagine that would be a problem, though. Not sure which route would be the best to most effectively optimize my PC for gaming, so any suggestions are welcome. Keep in mind I'm on a Dell All-In-One PC, so components upgrades/additions might be a bit complicated. I plan on taking the games to school on a flash drive so I can try them during my computers class on the systems there.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAll right, so I recently bought a new computer (it was refurbished)
I've done a lot of tweaking on it already, I installed a new video card and put in a new power supply unit. I am also dualbooting into both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 11.04. On my windows 7 boot, I installed oblivion. Fully installed it on the first try, then after a small issue concerning mods, I had to re-install. It reinstalled fine, but then I realized that I had installed it overtop all the files from the mods (in C:/.../oblivon). So I had to reinstall again. No big deal I though. Well! Now it is giving me a ton of problems.
During the install it gives me the error 0x80070017 and says it can't install. I looked up the error on google and it says that it's data corruption. It happens every time! I've rebooted, uninstalled / reinstalled other games, triple checked that there was nothing in C:/oblivion, everything I can think of.
