Preventing Windows 7 From Putting Game Shortcuts In Game Folder?
Jul 10, 2012
When I install a game in Windows 7 and Windows recognizes it it dumps the game's shortcut in the Game folder of the Start Menu. That wouldn't be a problem except Windows 7 prevents the game from creating the shortcuts it would have created had the operating system not been Windows 7- things like the game's Read Me, Uninstaller & Configuration options.
I am running Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit. I have recently started playing Governor of Poker, (the full version). However, although my game saves while the PC is on, as soon as I switch off the saved game is lost, (very annoying if you have completed 3 or 4 levels and have to start again). The other problem is that I can't find the saved game folder. It is not in the usual places ie appdata or programdata on the C drive.
I have two external harddrives which I'm using for archiving purposes, because of that they are turned off most of the time. I have some shortcuts on the desktop to some directories on these external harddisks.Windows occasionally removes these desktop shortcuts. It happens when the harddisks are turned off. I think it thinks that the shortcuts are broken and no longer needed, and tries to clean the desktop up.
I had a Logitech controller for the longest time but I guess the 1000 times I dropped it caught up with it because its broken. I want one that's slightly like a PlayStation controller because I'm used to that. So that's why I thought of just of getting a Logitech dual pad controller again but a newer version.
I have an old game called City Life 2008 Edition, which works fine on my Windows XP PC, however apparently it isn't compatible with my Windows 7 laptop. It won't even let me install the game the first time I tried it started installing but then it froze and crashed. And now when I try to install it, when the screen comes up after you except the terms and conditions it asks you to choose a saving folder for the game, and the continue button is grey (inactive), so I can't install it!!
I figured it's not compatible, how do I make it compatible?
I tried going to 'my computer' after I inserted the disk and right clicking 'properties' but there isn't anything about compatibility.
It started with the screen flipping back to desktop, as though ALT TAB had been pressed, no error messages,i just clicked the MTW2 icon on the side bar and returned to the game.Next the above mentioned behaviour started being accompanied by a message saying. "MM driver has stopped working" - since yesterday this message has stopped appearing.Last 2 days, whilst on the battle screen MTW2 just crashes with the Win 7 message box that says.this program has stopped working. It crashes all the time know whilst playing, but not immediatly, about after 15 - 20 minuetes on the battle map.Other events.Recently on boot up a box entitled "AML device install" would briefly appear after windows has loaded, i have disabled this in MSCONFIG - following web site advice. Power cable from wall socket to PSU blew, never had this before, simply replaced it. It was about 5 years old.
Is there a way to run a windows 98 game on Windows 7? I tried running the game on Win XP on virtual machine, it worked, but the graphics were messed up. I don't have a 98 disk.
So I have tried alot of different things. Last night i played maybe for a couple of hours and when I woke up this morning and wanted to play it kept crashing over and over again. Sometimes into blue screen sometimes just freeze and I had to reboot.
So i bought GTA IV and recieved a key with it which was used to activate the game and use online with windows live...now my question is will I be able to use this key on all windows Live games (i.e Fuel) or will it get blocked or something?
I have a computer game called "Racing simulation 3",by Ubisoft. Its meant for windows xp.Is it possible to install that game on windows 7 home premium? Are there any problems I'm likely to encounter if I try to install on Windows 7?
I have windows 7 64bit, Well I found out that ACT OF WAR cannot be played with windows7 that is over 2 GB of ram. On here I have 6Gigs So I found a solution to this problem by going to my system config,Boot, Advanced options. There I had brought my maximum memory from 6144 which was what it came with to 2000 which it is at now. And I applied it, an restarted my comp, and wonderfully my game worked. Now that I am no longer playing the game I wanted to bring the maximum memory back up to 6144 again. But every time I do change it through the ms config option, it just goes back to 2000 after saving and re-starting the computer. I have tried it 5 times, I select the maximum memory 6144 and save and restart but it kepps on reverting back to 2000 ?So my question is/ Is this a problem? and how can I bring it back up to the original 6144 or 6 gigs of ram ?
I can't seem to be able to install any of Cultures games on my Windows 7. I clicked on the setup file. I waited one minute, but nothing happened. I tried the windows xp compatiblity option, but it still didn't work. I can't find any other way.
Awhile ago I remapped the buttons on my PC gamepad because some of the buttons were mixed up (L2 acted as L1, etc) and somehow I was able to change all those keys to the correct ones. Now I can't remember how I did it and it's driving me crazy. I tried Logitech Profiler, Control Panel and anything I could find that would be related to my gamepad. Nothing! This is driving me insane!
i just installed windows 7 and i want to set downloads while im sleeping. than when i wake up i saw that the game download is only 20% so my computer does "half shut down" the lights are going down and i cant download any game like that. so can i turn it off?

I am trying to install Sabrina, the Teenage Witch: Spellbound on my 64bit Home Premium copy of Windows 7. The launcher runs when I put the disc in, but when I click install I get the following message: The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.I've tried running the game in Windows 98 Compatibility Mode and as Administrator but with no results!

I have the original axis & allies game cd. It installed fine.
My system is: win 7, 64 bit 4gb ram 1tb hdd i5 750 powercolor 5750 1gb direct x 11
Once I do the compatibility thi the game starts. but it freezes during game play and the start screen doesn't work (gobbles the graphics). Also the mouse movement is invisible. Could this be a direct x issue?
Under Windows XP, after winning a Freecell game, you coul check the "select game" box in the window askng if you want to "Play Again?" Now, under Windows 7, it just asks "Play Again?" and opens a random game. If you click "Select Game" on the drop down menu, it warns this will count as a loss in the statistics. I don't care that much about the statistics, but I am playing sequential games (I am now on 21210), so I [b][i]always want to select the game number.
