Game Is Not Working On Windows 7
Apr 19, 2011I have windows 7 64bit, Well I found out that ACT OF WAR cannot be played with windows7 that is over 2 GB of ram. On here I have 6Gigs So I found a solution to this problem by going to my system config,Boot, Advanced options. There I had brought my maximum memory from 6144 which was what it came with to 2000 which it is at now. And I applied it, an restarted my comp, and wonderfully my game worked. Now that I am no longer playing the game I wanted to bring the maximum memory back up to 6144 again. But every time I do change it through the ms config option, it just goes back to 2000 after saving and re-starting the computer. I have tried it 5 times, I select the maximum memory 6144 and save and restart but it kepps on reverting back to 2000 ?So my question is/ Is this a problem? and how can I bring it back up to the original 6144 or 6 gigs of ram ?

Oct 30, 2009My little brother purchased Windows 7 and did an upgrade install without doing a fresh install. He lost all of his old game installs and now isn't able to play any of them. We found the folders in windows.old, but none of the games are working. We are trying to get Crysis to work and looked in the registry for the serial key and we couldn't find it. Why couldn't windows have found a better way of doing the upgrade install?

Mar 24, 2012No matter what compiler I elect to use (I have tried codeblocks, bloodshed dev C++, visual studio c++ express 2005, visual studio 2008 & 2010 and eclipe [java]) when i attempt to rebuild a project after executing it once, it will link and compile, but and error will appear stating that the compiler could not open the executable to re-write it. I have already attempted the following:
** I have no Antivirus running (windows has a warning stating it).
** I have no firewall running (windows also has a warning about it).
** I have checked process explorer and no Antivirus or firewall is running.
** I have checked process explorer and no other process is attempting to use that executable. (the program terminates from process explorer at the same time it stops running in command prompt)
** I have followed all necessary instruction to make sure cygwin was removed from my computer.
My program will compile & run without any errors (it does this to any code i try to compile, even hello world [so it isn't a coding error]. Its may be a compiler error because it happens with c++ and java [same problem from command line too) or its an ide problem as this happens with multiple ide.
I am going to take a guess and say I either a have a rogue av or firewall (Windows Defender) issue that I can not seem to track down and shut down or windows keeps accessing the project directory (process explorer did show a process name "system" was accessing that project directory). I am the admin for the computer, and the only account on it. I really don't want to dual boot linux just to develop programs.

I remember doing it once a long while back, but I forgot how and Google is being especially unhelpful.One result instructed me to navigate to the file's location and type:

but that didn't work. I assumed it was for an older Windows version. Google got its hit from a comment saying it didn't work on Windows 7...
Search Options - Cannot Locate Executable For Paint
Apr 11, 2012I can't locate the executable for paint. I typed paint in search while in C: (system drive) with no success. Instead, it could find hundreds of files matching odd criteria, like if "paint" appeared in the name of the containing folder or in the file description, which is too advanced for a basic search.
And guess what -- the file with the actual name wasn't found. I checked in Organize > Folder and search options > Search > When searching non-indexed locations > Include system directories but in vain. It happened with files created by me as well. So, 2 questions arise, as simple as they can be:
1. How can I check the options to search for a file regular/hidden/system in regular/hidden/system directories?
2. Options for input words location: name/content (not interested in others), regardless of indexations (I don't want to change location indexations for these options to work).
User Allowed To Run Executable As Admin Without Prompt?
May 5, 2012I have a special case where a user needs to run an installed executable as an admin. This exe was written for XP and will only work properly when ran as admin. I do not want the user to have an admin account or the admin pass, but he needs to be able to start and stop this program at will. I have tried checking the box to always run as admin, creating a desktop shortcut to run as admin and I even tried creating a shortcut that uses the command line runas /savecred but all attempts failed. Windows 7 always asks for the admin pass. I understand this is how it is supposed to be, but are there any options available to me? If I turn off UAC will that do the trick? But will turning off UAC override the GPO I have setup for non-admins?

Jan 21, 2011I have a dual monitor set up in my office with a 23" Asus connected via DVI and a 19" Sony connected via VGA and adapter to my custom build. In my living room I have a TV connected Via Receiver Via adapter(composite/s-video) Via s-video to my same custom build.At the moment I have to go in to "screen resolution" and select the sony from the "Display" menu and then "disconnect this display" from the "Multiple displays" menu. So far I have only disconnected the sony monitor, I still need to extend desktop on to the TV.this gets to be a legthy process when I do it 8 times a day every day. Is there a why to have 1 or 2 executable script that will allow me to switch between the desired displays?

Jul 5, 2012I've tried everything (including Tom's Hardware) Google has churned up but to no avail. This includes clean installs of my drivers, registry edits and even a reformat and fresh installation of Windows 7.I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, with the following (relevant) hardware:

Geforce GTX 580
8Gb RAM
750 Watt PSU
I've played well over 350 hours of Battlefield 3 without a problem until I reformatted my computer for other, since resolved, issues. After the reformat It just wouldn't work. As previously mentioned I've tried all the common solutions for my issues, starting out assuming it was Battlefield that was causing them.I'm hoping it's not a hardware related issue, but I have a feeling that it might be. I've had this computer (custom built) for just over a year and a half.
Flashpoint 2 Game Exe Stops Working In Win7 64bit
Dec 1, 2009Havin a problem with operation Flashpoint 2 & win7 64bit. when I launch the game everything runs fine up to when I load the first mission. at this point the game crashes to desktop with the message "game.exe has stopped working". This makes no sense to me as I have been running this game on this Rig for a month now with no problems whatsoever.
I have been running the game through a 9600gt gpu but it sadly died a couple of weeks ago which meant I had to step down to my previous 8600gt. This is where I believe my problem lies although I have checked the game requirments and the 8600gt easily fits the requirments needed. can somebody please shed some light on a possible solution to this very annoying problem?

That wouldn't be a problem except Windows 7 prevents the game from creating the shortcuts it would have created had the operating system not been Windows 7- things like the game's Read Me, Uninstaller & Configuration options.

Jan 4, 2010Copied 32-bit version of cardfile.exe to my W7 PC and voila, it runs like a champ. Problem is I can't associate my Cardfile data files with the executable using the "Open With" function.
1. Copied 32-bit executable into a directory named "Cardfile" within "Program Files (x86)".
2. Copied my Cardfile data files to My Documents and renamed *.crd to *.car due to avoid Windows CardSpace association.
3. Right clicked on one of my *.car files and selected Open With.
4. Navigated to my cardfile.exe executable, clicked Open, but Windows won't accept association and keeps trying to open with Acrobat, first "registered" app on the apps list.
I think this is happening because cardfile.exe was not actually installed and therefore not registered. This was never a problem in XP, but MS always seems to they have to increasingly protect us from ourselves and now it's an issue.Anyone know how I can register cardfile.exe with the OS so I can associate my Cardfile files with the executable and open them directly?

It won't even let me install the game the first time I tried it started installing but then it froze and crashed. And now when I try to install it, when the screen comes up after you except the terms and conditions it asks you to choose a saving folder for the game, and the continue button is grey (inactive), so I can't install it!!
I figured it's not compatible, how do I make it compatible?

It started with the screen flipping back to desktop, as though ALT TAB had been pressed, no error messages,i just clicked the MTW2 icon on the side bar and returned to the game.Next the above mentioned behaviour started being accompanied by a message saying. "MM driver has stopped working" - since yesterday this message has stopped appearing.Last 2 days, whilst on the battle screen MTW2 just crashes with the Win 7 message box that says.this program has stopped working. It crashes all the time know whilst playing, but not immediatly, about after 15 - 20 minuetes on the battle map.Other events.Recently on boot up a box entitled "AML device install" would briefly appear after windows has loaded, i have disabled this in MSCONFIG - following web site advice. Power cable from wall socket to PSU blew, never had this before, simply replaced it. It was about 5 years old.
