Remove "briefcase" And "Compressed (zipped) Folder"?
May 15, 2011
how to remove "briefcase" and "Compressed (zipped) Folder" from the New context menu. I've been tweaking it by going to specific entries in the registry, but don't know where to locate ShellNew for briefcase and zip folder. I've come across some downloadable automated ways of getting rid of them, but I won't do that, I want to do it manually myself.
When I tried to zip a group of filesby right click option this error appeared:"compressed (zipped) folders rror""unable to complete operation""access is denied"I have full administrator's rights so can't understand why this is happening. The only thing that's changed on my system is an adobe reader update and a McAfee antivirus update. The list of permission entries:[CODE]
I am trying to compress a file by sending to zipped folder. The file is a window minidump from a BSOD.I find that when I try and do this I get the error message "File not found or no read permission".I am definitely have administrative rights so I don't know what the problem is?
i used to download subtitles from a website which saves it in .aspx file (looking like zipped folder file) and after extracting it used to work fine. But yesterday, when i saved a file it got saved in .dat file. Thinking it will open in notepad (since .srt opens with notepad) i made it to 'OPEN WITH' notepad. But i was not able to view/use the file. Now when iam trying to download anyother sub from the same website it gets saved in notepad and will be of no use.Do i need to install anything so that i can use the file? How do i make it so that the file gets saved in a zipped looking folder and i can use the subs.
how i can solve this problem? when i opened this Briefcase it show me this warning ((this briefcase can not be opened because the disk is inaccessible verify that the disk us accessible))
I had a bunch of zipped font folders on my computer the other day and was installing them without issue, but I clicked something, and they all instantly turned to PDFs. I deleted them all. But now, when I download fonts, my PC no longer recognizes the folders as zipped files containing fonts for me to extract. It gives me the option of opening it with Acrobat or Irfanview or it tells me to choose a default program. I lost my computer in a tornado storm and got a new one and need to have certain fonts installed for a book I'm working on.
I recently built my own computer and since I got it up and running, my computer has been blue screening without any reason that I can find. It never BSOD's during the same thing. Sometimes I'll be playing a game, other times just browsing the internet, and once while watching a movie.I'd rather not have to wipe the computer and start over, since I just got it fully situated and functioning. Well, functioning for the most part, minus the BSOD.
my friend tried to transfer some pictures into my laptop by blutooth he is using HTC sensation, but after the whole thing is done, there is a system folder left behind i tried to delete it but when i right click on it, a dialog box appears that the windows explorer stopped working, my computer just became very slow, like its running on 100 programs at a time, it took a very long time just to move the cursor to close the dialog box, yeah i cant delete the system folder i tried to google about this but i didnt found a similar problem with mine, tried to delete the registry method but it didnt work as a new folder appears instead, i dont want to do anything further relating to registry thing as i am afraid that i would corrupt some important files.
I am trying to relocate my Users folder into another HDD to save space on my OS HDD by using this guide: Move the Users Directory in Windows 7 I am currently inside cmd on the Win7 Ultimate Edition(x64) DVD and have executed the following commands with some edited results next to them:
robocopy /copyall /mir /xj D:Users C:Users "Directories skipped: 51 Files failed: 1" (Cmd interpreted my C: drive to be the D: drive and my target HDD to be C: in recovery mode) robocopy /copyall /mir /xj D:Users C:Users "Directories skipped: 2114 Files failed: 1"
1) Enabled hidden administrator logon and logged onto it.
2) Edited user permission for entire drive and set to 'full control'
3) verified the folder is not locked/in-use even deleted it and then restored
Still has the stupid 'read only' box checked when you hit Properties. I am updating Starcraft 2 and get a file creation error during patching. The read only setting is the only thing I can think to change other than full uninstall -> reinstall.
edit: Just tried doing it in elevated command prompt and the R flag for readonly is not present at all even looking all sub-folders with the /S switch. So apparently its not read only but explorer is noting it so in 'properties' ... very strange.
I have windows seven home premium on a lenevo 3000 N100.I was running Super Anti spyware free edition and it said that a folder in my documents which contained 2 MP3 files and 2 image files was corrupt. I know it was not like that to begin with as I downloaded it on Jan 7 and have listened to the songs a few times since then. I can't delete it because it is corrupt. It recommends I run chkdsk. I go to it by going to my computer, drive c, properties, tools, check disk. Then it says it can't run it when windows is in use and asks if I'd like to schedule a scan the next time I turn on my computer. I have restarted and shut down my computer atleast 5 times now and it will not start that scan, it'll just boot up like it normally would.
I am trying to figure how to remove the lock icon over some of my folders. It appear if I share one of my folder with the Homegroup and unshare it later. I think it is because when I share it with my homegroup, the Everyone/Cooperation (I'm not sure to use the good word, I'm using the french version) option disapear and I can't add it anymore.By default :Once shared and unshared : (can't add Everyone - Cooperation, which cause I presume the lock on the folder)My only option is to share it again with the Homegroup or with Everyone with Read instead of Cooperation. I don't want this folder to be shared anymore.
I have Win7 Ultimate and in the windows explorer or what ever you call the program where you view the files and folders, it shows the address paths of "Hidden" folders that I want to keep hidden. How can I delete these address paths? It also shows up in the IE8 addresses which is a pain but easily deleted there. However in the Windows explorer address bar that option is not available.
i think on a folder applay some permission by softwere. when is past some file it apeare one massage say access is deny i can't remove the permission from folder in security tab.
I was cleaning up some unwanted files on my computer and I decided to compress the drive then undo it after but I forgot to undo it :| I've looked everywhere and it says that I need a CD and sadly I don't have one. I then downloaded the recovery files from neosmart but I found out my computer won't read any CD's or DVD's and the USB method didn't work for me. I am also unable to go into the advanced boot options no matter how much I try.
ago i tested a Activator program on my temporary OS (im planing to install a genuine version next week) but when i reboot my screen displayed 'BOOTMGR is compressed Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart'. So i follow the instruction but my laptop will always display the same message over and over again. I found at the net that i need to repair install but my iso was on the OS and i cant even get them (no disk drive so im using usb). How can i fix this cuz i need to use my pc on Friday?
So, i've got a big problem. Yesterday, I tried to reinstall my windows 7 starter on my Acer Aspyre One AOA 150. I wanted to delete everything from HDD, but after, when I trying to restart, I meet this nice characters: BootMgr is compressed. I read a lot of informations in this forum, but I can't solved this problem.I prepared a bootable HDD from my TOSHIBA, and I changed the first boot to the USB HDD ( I don't know why can't I boot from SDD card.. ). When the boot is starting, it took a few seconds, and BootMgr is compressed, Without bootable HDD, the Windows Boot Mgr wrote: The windows boot configuration data file does not contain a valid os entry.
I recently had cause to download a driver that sat on my computer for 2 days while I tried to figure out how to open it. I have the past month or so been confronted with a type screen I have not seen before. I was trying to make it come back up again but I can't right now but its a green screen and it has commands at the type like EXTRACT and so forth. I am desperate to find some way around this as it is continually happening a couple of times a week at the most inopportunte times. What is this program and where did it come from?
I'm out of town without a recovery disk, and my lap top hd was getting full so my dumb a$& thought just press the compress drive tick box, now I cannot boot get to a command prompt etc. All I could scrounge up was a vista install disk and when I try to get to a c: prompt it reboots
I have recently uninstalled 7-zip from my computer and now there is no option in the right click menu to create a zipped folder. i need this back as i have files to unzip but windows says there is no software to do this.
I compressed my hard drive for space, but I compressed some files that shouldn't be compressed. BOOTMGR error is coming up, and everything I have read says you need a 7 install disk to repair this issue..... as it goes, I don't have one. And I can't get one. Now there has to be some way to fix this without it. I have a lap top that is also running 7 right now but it's a friends and has no disk. My desktop is the problem.
insert the Windows 7 Disc, wait until it load up and you will see on the left bottom of the screen fix computer, select the drive and Options" Open up the Command Prompt . Try typing the following commands in order:
Bootrec/fixboot (Hit Enter)
Bootrec/fixmbr (Hit Enter)Note: a list of commands will be shown, it has work now you can then reboot your computer .
This is for some that are looking for the best answer
