Any Way To Change Selected Text Color While Using High Contrast?
Jun 16, 2011I'm using Office 2010 on Windows 7 (64bit) with high contrast theme (white on black). When I select part of the text (in a word document, for instance) the selected text is highlighted with white background color. Is it possible to change the background color and the font color of the selected text?
It seems that changes made to the "Window" colors in the "Windows Color" dialog (accessible from personalization), have an impact on those colors which leads to the conclusion that those colors are computed based on those settings. I'm asking whether there is an option to modify selected text colors while still using black background and white text.
Default Area Selected For Folders In Explorer Window?
Jun 25, 2012So i have created some shortcuts to quicklaunch certain folders. Some of them open and i can use the arrow keys to scroll through the items in the folder.
Some of them open with the "Name" column selected, so the arrow keys don't initially scroll through the items in the folder.
I know this is very specific, but there HAS GOT to be a way to define what it opens to by default... especially since some of my folders default to the list of items within the folder.

May 9, 2012I have a program that uses a 360 controller. When the window is in focus it send the information fine. However when I have other windows focused it does not (this was expected). I constantly use the other windows so it can be a pain to select the window every time instead of just picking up the 360 controller and still control the program.

Nov 8, 2009Right click on desktop, personalize, then go to window color. The closes option there is to black is "slate" which is a grayish color. I can make it darker by adjusting the brightness to darker but it is still a gray color. How can I make it black?? I remember I was able to do so in Vista

May 26, 2010My laptop was working fine until I rebooted. After I rebooted, Aero thems is gone. I cannot save any of the settings. Audio is not working. Networking is not working!! I cannot use anything in the control panel. I came to realize that RPC is not available but when i typed services.msc in run, rpc is running well..Tried finding solution everywhere in web , but could not find.System restore is not working either. I tried repair install, but the error pops up after I click the INSTALL now button from the Bootable Win 7 dvd as " Window could not retrieve information about the disk on this computer".On top of that, I had encrypted my encrypted partition with the bitlocker. Now If I happen to format Windows 7, would I be able to access that partition?? I got very important documents in that partition.

Nvidia Color Control Versus Windows Color Control Settings?
Oct 12, 2010I am trying to set my monitor's screen give accurate renditions of my pictures. I use Quick Gamma to set gamma. When doing this I can use either Nvidia's controls or windows controls (right click desktop>Nvidia Control Panel. When using Nvidia's Control Panel, there are two choices: Use other applications control color settings or Use Nvidia settings. Am I correct in assuming that the former setting is Windows? I always check the button to use Nvidia settings (and then Apply>OK), but when I go back to this screen at a later time, the Other applications control color settings is always selected. I'd like to default to Nvidia.

Mouse Opens A Window, However Cannot Click Inside The Window
Aug 22, 2012I am running into an issue where I can open a window/program with my mouse however once the window is open I cannot click inside of it. The window becomes inactive. I also have noticed I cannot right click on my desktop to bring up the properties. I can right click on the window in the task bar to close it but not in the window. Since this is happening I am limited to command prompt. I ran sfc /scannow with no errors. I tried with 3 different mice. I booted the computer into safe mode with command prompt and brought up the device manager to show devices not in use, and when the device manager window opened I could click inside it! since I could use the window I uninstalled all mouse drivers, and reinstalled my microsoft wireless usb mouse driver.. while in this safe mode I changed my mouse properties to system default as I read somewhere that can reset things. Next I booted the computer in safe mode (without command prompt) and still the same thing. I was trying to do a restore point as well however my Kaspersky antivirus 2012 is preventing that as i cannot find a way to kill the program through command prompt.

Selected Messages Could Not Be Moved
Nov 17, 2009In Windows Live Mail, when I receive junk mail, it is not placed in the junk mail folder, though it appears as unread mail. If I select the message and then click the Junk button, I receive the message "The selected message(s) could not be moved. An error has occurred." I tried removing and re-installing WLM and junk mail worked correctly for a while, but now the same problem is occurring again.
What is causing the problem and how can I fix it?

Mar 24, 2011Basically, what seems to be happening is when I'm using a program or something, like, for example, Google Chrome, the window will randomly be deselected or deactivated. It's like someone clicked on another window. Normally, this isn't a huge deal. I just click on the window and keep typing until it happens again (it usually happens two or three times then stops for a while); It's just annoying. But the real issue is when I'm playing a full-screen game, where it's constantly minimized. Not only does it take a good minute or two for my slow computer to pull the window back up, but this also sometimes crashes games, like Team Fortress 2.I haven't been able to play any games for a while.

On EFI systems Windows can only be installed to GPT disks".I have no clue and reading other forums it sounded like specific computers were having this problem but I built mine.Had a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 I used from a friend with no Key, Microsoft doesn't like that so I purchased a Key from them for Premium, used a W7 x32 disk by accident and I have 12 GBs of Ram so pretty inefficient.. I downloaded a W7 x64 version and am now having this problem...; First I've down this now bc Microsoft said they would send me a disk in the mail when I bought the Key but that was about 3 weeks ago and I would like to use my computer to its capabilities.

Missing files belong to a hidden user account created for irrelevant purpose. Hero computer tech finds/edits registry to remove hidden account and backups now runs correctly.Problem: I now have 4 backup files that are incorrect and I don't know if that will cause any problems if I forget about their condition and choose to back up to one of them in the future.

Oct 15, 2010After an attempt to dual boot my system with 32 bit OS, I couldn't boot back into 64, it wasn't even an option. So, I figured I must have messed up the install and it was time for a clean one. Now I get an option to dual boot windows 7 or windows 7 (recovered).
Recovered is the one I want, but if I switch my boot HDD to the one that Windows 7 (recovered) is on, bootmgr is suddenly MIA.
I have not a clue how to restore it, and I even wiped the second HDD clean.

On the first boot it runs that wizard asking you to select locale etc. After doing some research I see that supposedly only Win7 Ultimate will allow multiple languages which is confusing since Home Premium is allowing me to select one. My questions are...
1) If I select a language on this first time boot wizard, once it configures/installs can I change it to another selection at a later? If the answer is "No" then...
2) If I re-install fresh from the accompanying rescue CD will I then be presented with the first time boot wizard again allowing to select the locale and thus changing it there?
I haven't decided if I want to run the box in English or Japanese yet but both options are available on the first time boot screen which I find very confusing since by all accounts Ultimate is the only version that should allow this.

I currently have 32-bit Vista running.I initially created a new partition, copies all my data there, then started to do the custom install. I got the message: Quote: Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks. Quote: Esc when booting to take you into the EFI boot manager and select DVD-Drive instead of ACPI (....) string I have tried to go in to the start-up options but I don't see this option. I just keep getting back to the above error message.I have since deleted my extra partition, and intend just re-syncing my laptop's data via Dropbox (9GB - hope it will be ok!).
