Best Free Software To Do A Backup Of Selected Folders?
Oct 2, 2011Besides the native program in windows 7, what's a trust worthy good program to backup selected folders like Documents, Pictures, and other random folders I want to backup..
Maybe even something that does it incremental, so say if I connect it every sunday it only backs up changes in the folders and doesn't need to re do everything so that it won't need to re backup my 600GB movies folder, etc because it won't have any changes.
Default Area Selected For Folders In Explorer Window?
Jun 25, 2012So i have created some shortcuts to quicklaunch certain folders. Some of them open and i can use the arrow keys to scroll through the items in the folder.
Some of them open with the "Name" column selected, so the arrow keys don't initially scroll through the items in the folder.
I know this is very specific, but there HAS GOT to be a way to define what it opens to by default... especially since some of my folders default to the list of items within the folder.
Extract From Multiple Folders?
Jul 10, 2010My font collection is in need of a radical overhaul. I use High Logics Main Type as my font manager. But that's by the by, this isn't about fonts solely. I've come across the situation where I need to collect all the files together from multiple sub folders before. I want to know the easiest way of extracting all the data from, say, 500+ sub folders, and dumping it all in the parent/a.n.other folder. At the moment, with fonts, it's a piece of pish, I search for ttf files in the main folder with locate32, highlight them all, cut 'n' paste into the new folder. I then use RED 2.1 to delete the empty folders, go back into the parent folder to see what folders are left, open one, get the file extension, use locate32 to search for file extensions in parent folder, and so on and so forth. Easier to do than type, but still a bit long winded. Does anyone know of an easier way or a 3rd party portable app.?

Feb 23, 2011I've been using the computer for a really long time but I don't have a clear understanding as to why or how certain OS's are set up the way they are...I'm curious to know why in Windows some of the same folders are stored in multiple places? This has always been an annoyance to me when it comes to organizing and remembering where everything is on my computer. Sure they're are ways to search for things but I feel that still takes up too much time and bottom line there's just gotta be a easier way to access your files. I have multiple computers and it's just impossible for to me remember where everything is.... I could be missing something on how to get a hold of it but anytime I look up how to organize your folders it still doesn't seem efficient to me. I have my own ideas on how I would like it to work or what I would like microsoft to do but I"m not a computer tech person who is able to understand if my ideas would actually even work or not.

Here you can see the properties. The one on the left is the default location one which appears in explorer but shouldn't. The one on the right is the real desktop that I moved to her data drive. 2 copies appear for the one on her data drive.

HOWEVER my new PC already has Windows 7 installed on a second hard drive in the computer, and my laptop clone was cloned with Windows 7 (it was all on 1 hard drive partition). When I decompress the cloned image will I run into any problems with Windows folders on 2 drives, or can I delete the second windows folder?

Note that the system was not initially set up to capture the dmp files so all the earliest ones are missing. I presented the initial problems to the original seller who recommended sticking with MSE and uninstalling Norton 360 and I did that. Another forum suggested that Virtual Memory was the problem and I disabled and restored VM. Still having multiple crashes and I am hoping that I can get real help here. Feb 13, 2013We have three medical clinics and the front desk staff float from clinic to clinic depending on their schedule. I only started here a few months ago and I am working on upgrading their Dell xp systems to Windows 7 systems.The problem begins to crop up when say a user named Sally will come in and sit down at this system for the first time.. Well, she needs to login, click on outlook icon, let it find her exchange PST and copy settings to her user profile, then she launches the application for the scanner that she uses to scan in ID's and insurance cards for every patient coming in.. The scanner is set to default settings and needs to be tweaked on color depth and double sided, etc.. Then after that, she needs to launch her Medical EMR application.. and then choose various options in the citrix client, ..TL;DR - Each user needs to spend 20 minutes resetting the defaults at this updated system.
Well this is fine except, I am planning on updating 2 front desk systems at each clinic, the user Sally will need to do all these things EACH time she finds herself sitting down at a system I just swapped out the previous evening.My thought is this, put a single system down in one clinic and let it sit a week giving most of the float users a chance to work on it for a day, setting all of their preferences etc.Once I get a bunch of them with user profiles on the local drive, grab an image of that drive and just deploy that to each system I roll out..Couple issues I am running into:First would be that I would have to register each Windows 7 copy with a new serial, which I have The next issue is, we have a mis-mash of Dell optiplex systems. 330's - 380's even a couple 320's..
Multiple Blue Screens With Multiple Reasons
Dec 13, 2012I have been getting a fairly random blue screens and I cannot pin point it myself. I know a bit about diagnosing and repairing issues but this one is just a pain in my butt. Working With Multiple Monitors Does Not Allow Multiple Desktops
Sep 7, 2012I have attached a second monitor to my laptop which runs Windows 7, however, I need to set different resolutions for different monitors, because the display does not fit to fill the screen on both monitors.
It is also noted that the display is replicated, and I would like to have the effect of having different desktops e.g. being able to use different applications such as debugging code on one monitor on an IDE such as Visual Studio, and, viewing the browser on the other monitor.
Currently it does not seem possible since the behavior seems to be that the same resolution is replicated on both monitors.
Selected Messages Could Not Be Moved
Nov 17, 2009In Windows Live Mail, when I receive junk mail, it is not placed in the junk mail folder, though it appears as unread mail. If I select the message and then click the Junk button, I receive the message "The selected message(s) could not be moved. An error has occurred." I tried removing and re-installing WLM and junk mail worked correctly for a while, but now the same problem is occurring again.
What is causing the problem and how can I fix it?

Mar 24, 2011Basically, what seems to be happening is when I'm using a program or something, like, for example, Google Chrome, the window will randomly be deselected or deactivated. It's like someone clicked on another window. Normally, this isn't a huge deal. I just click on the window and keep typing until it happens again (it usually happens two or three times then stops for a while); It's just annoying. But the real issue is when I'm playing a full-screen game, where it's constantly minimized. Not only does it take a good minute or two for my slow computer to pull the window back up, but this also sometimes crashes games, like Team Fortress 2.I haven't been able to play any games for a while.

My graphics card is older, a Nvidia Quadro FX 1700, but it is perfectly capable of driving both displays at the same time. It's a minor annoyance, but I'd like to get it working if it's possible.

I downloaded a W7 x64 version and am now having this problem...; First I've down this now bc Microsoft said they would send me a disk in the mail when I bought the Key but that was about 3 weeks ago and I would like to use my computer to its capabilities.
