Starting Slideshow From Selected Photo In Windows 7?
Mar 14, 2012
Windows 7 "Slide Show" always starts from the first photo. XP started from any photo selected. I want to be able to start from any photo. It is essential when sorting photos into separate files.
I've got a problem with colour representation in Windows 7 Photo Viewer, but only when I view the images in the Slideshow. When I double click and open them normally within Photo Viewer they are fine, but if I open the Slideshow and allow it to run through all the images (JPEGs) in the folder, they display with a desaturated cast to them - quite different to how they appear when not opened in the SlideshowI've read all about the Samsung yellow colour fix etc, but I've tried that fix and nothing changed. And that fix doesn't specifically affect just the Slideshow, as I understand it
I use the Windows Live Photo Gallery screensaver, ticked for 'photos and video from...'. When it runs, photos are fine but videos show with a grayed out media file icon. These are just simple .avi files that play with media player, vlc, or whatever.
This has been a problem for me since Vista. I was hoping that once I upgrade to Windows 7, this problem would go away, but it didn't.
I set my screensaver to the slideshow that comes with Windows. The folders I use is on my only SATA HDD. The power scheme is the default setting.
Most of the time, the screensaver slideshow would not come on. Instead, the desktop would be displayed until the power scheme turns the monitor off. I set the screensaver to come on after 15 minutes, and the LCD monitor to turn off after an hour of inactivity.
Again, I had this problem already with Vista, but it's the same issue with Windows 7. Does anyone have any idea why the screensaver doesn't start after 15 minutes?
Is there any photo editing software comparable to the old Adobe PhotoDeluxe. I have tried Gimp, Picasso and paid for other versions of Adobe. None are as user friendly and have the editing tools that PhotoDeluxe had.
Explorer won't update thumbnails after I alter a photo, for example by rotating sideways photos (that is, permanently rotating, using a photo editor program), or by cropping.
How do I get the thumbnails to update?
This is happening for all photos (not just certain ones).
I have tried:
- View > Refresh
- Copying the photos to a new folder and renaming them. Even if a photo has been drastically cropped, the thumbnail is still showing the original, whole one - that is, it's showing parts of the file that DON'T EVEN EXIST
- Entirely disabling the thumbnail cache: Group Policy Editor > 'Turn off caching of thumbnails in hidden thumbs.db files'. This *must* force Windows to redraw the thumbnail - but it doesn't!
- Restarting computer after each of the above steps
Win 7 Pro, 64 bit. Photos are jpegs from a new digital camera.
my win 7 photo viewer does the weirdest thing!! when i view my photos and rotate them and close the viewer, they disappear from my folder where they were originally stored in. i've checked my deleted items. no luck. searched whole pc for edited files and names of files that disappeared. no luck there either. i tested it on my hubby's pc. exact same result there.
I upgrade from vista ultimate 32bit to windows 7 32bit ultimate, and after 3/4 days of using all seem okay, but today while i go in desktop proprieties to see and select the new feature "slideshow" i noted that no option there are, but the old selection like center, fit to screen etc...i see others forum and also some tutorials for slideshow and i see that the panel of pictures, is different on botton. Infact there is the time etc... for slideshow.
Now to solved this BUG ? i must reinstall/upgrade again windows 7 ? or there are others solutions ?
I've done this a hundred or more times so I know how. But now doing it the same way won't work anymore.Right click dexktop....Persnalixe......Select DesktopBackground.......Click on Down Arrrow on Theme box........ Select a folder of pictures,,,,, Save. Used to work now doesn't
I'm having a problem that seems to be compounding itself (maybe it's my imagination)... whenever I scroll in a page in IE8 with Flash content on it (side/top bar ads) the page becomes sluggish, jittery, etc. Does anyone know if there's a fix for this and is it caused by the ActiveX Flash plugin or from IE8 itself?
I'm not having this problem with Chrome or Firefox with the Flash plugin.
I am running Windows 7 premium and cannot get the slideshow to run nor change my desktop background picture. I have tried all the settings on the laptop but nothing works.
lm looking for some software that acts in a similar way to windows slideshow which has similar options like being able to specify the time each slide comes up and randomly show images in specified folders, now you might say windows already does that.however the reason lm asking is because lm looking for a software that has an extra feature of being able to run a slide show of 2 or more images on one monitor.. that is to say having up to 4 images running as a slideshow, is there a way to do this as lve only found an old outdated program from early 2004 which seems to be labelled a virus by my antivirus software despite scanning a few times manually and finding nothing.
Basically, what seems to be happening is when I'm using a program or something, like, for example, Google Chrome, the window will randomly be deselected or deactivated. It's like someone clicked on another window. Normally, this isn't a huge deal. I just click on the window and keep typing until it happens again (it usually happens two or three times then stops for a while); It's just annoying. But the real issue is when I'm playing a full-screen game, where it's constantly minimized. Not only does it take a good minute or two for my slow computer to pull the window back up, but this also sometimes crashes games, like Team Fortress 2.I haven't been able to play any games for a while.
My desktop background, which was a slideshow from one of my folders of photos suddenly froze on one picture which showed the top one third correctly, the second third as multicolored horizontal lines and the bottom one third as grey. I was unable to affect this in any way using 'personalize' but finally got rid of it by moving the folder of photos elsewhere and restarting. I am now only able to select a solid color. When I try to set anything else, I can set everything as I wish in the personalize window but when I click 'save changes' it reverts to solid color again. If I right click any picture and select 'Set as desktop background', absolutely nothing happens. I have tried restoring to an earlier time which had no effect on the problem.
inkj which is I/pictures/backgrounds/but i HAVE to select one image instead of just being able to select a folder. After that, i cannot click ''OK'', it will not work, respond or anything...neither will cancel, I HAVE to hit the X which kills al my actions...also it will jump straight back to my last used theme if i click OK....so it wont ''OK'' but it does jump back to my last saved theme...very wierd...I have this with any theme downlaoded or not makes no difference, also weird is that the screen shows tearing or something when i scroll up and down!
When I open a picture and start a slideshow, there are two icons that appear on the taskbar. One says Windows Photo Viewer, and the other says, Photo View Slide Show. The taskbar is set to always combine icons and I am unable to Pin a photo to the taskbar.
At work I set up a computer with dual monitors. One of the monitors is a tv that we want nothing except a powerpoint presentation on it. So I created the powerpoint, ran the slideshow on the tv and minimized it on the other monitor. Works great, unless I open other programs on the pc then the slideshow freezes on the tv! If I open anything, ms paint, firefox, any window or program the slideshow freezes until the program is minimized. Then it continues. How do I get around this?
apparently this is because the slideshow is run in full screen. If I go to "set up slide show" and run by an individual window then all is fine but then I have borders.
This is probably not the right website to ask about website development, but surely some of the community has some experience.I was wondering if anyone knows of any free open-source JavaScript script that creates a slideshow with sliding frames. What I need is one that is free, has no kind of watermark, and can be modified as much as needed.
I want to run a photo gallery slide show in a web easy 8 made website. Not an online solution. In order to achieve that, the slide show should be able to be inserted as a HTML component into web easy The slide show doesn't have to be fancy, but it should be able to set auto start, and manual choice of picture using the PC mouse. It should be free for private and business use.
I have this weird bug when using the desktop background slideshow, after some time (I've no idea how long) it just stops on one of them and sticks with it as if I specified that background was the one I wanted instead of the slideshow. The only way I've managed to stop it happening is if I keep the Personalization window open after clicking Save Changes.
I am unable to watch a picture slide show from a flash drive, i do not want to have to transfer the pictures to a computer just to watch the slide show, and no, I can not keep the pictures stored on a computer.
I have created a slideshow in Microsoft media however when I burn it to a DVD the music and the pictures no longer are in sync. It appears that the pictures move faster off of the DVD than they do when created in media. This is the case whether played on a DVD player or a computer however when played in media it works perfectly.
I need to display .doc,.pdf files in the slide show itself with scrollbars. NOTE:There should not be the link i.e should not moving from powerpoint slide to .doc /.pdf file.
I'm trying to do a clean install on Windows 7 64-bit on my laptop. I currently have 32-bit Vista running.I initially created a new partition, copies all my data there, then started to do the custom install. I got the message: Quote: Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks. Quote: Esc when booting to take you into the EFI boot manager and select DVD-Drive instead of ACPI (....) string I have tried to go in to the start-up options but I don't see this option. I just keep getting back to the above error message.I have since deleted my extra partition, and intend just re-syncing my laptop's data via Dropbox (9GB - hope it will be ok!).
I backup my files using windows backup to an external hard disk. But the backup size is smaller than the selected files. The files that are selected to be backed up are 30-40 GB, and the size of the backup shows it is only 3.7 GB. Why is this. It says its 3.7 both in the control panel for windows backup, and when looking at properties on the backup folder.
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.I use the desktop slideshow feature, directed to a folder in my pictures folder that I named desktop slideshow, I have about 1000 images in there, it's set to change image once every 30 seconds. Here is the problem, I tend to see the same 20 images or so go by over and over, and only once or twice in each loop does a new image show up, eventually I see a great number, but it tends to favor those same 20 or so images predominantly. They don't have similar names, they are widely differing in size, dimensions, and every other aspect. But for some reason the slideshow tends to pick them to go by more than anything else. I removed the images, and it chooses another 20 or 30 seemingly at random to give priority over the rest, only slipping in a random one between those repeated choices once or twice in each loop again.
So here is my question, does anyone know what criteria or method is used to cycle the images in the desktop slideshow? The whole reason I started using it was because I like the idea of seeing any one of a thousand or more pictures on my screen when I close a window, and it's kind of nice to have something I'm working on in my main screen while random art goes by on my second monitor, but with the same images repeated, it sort of loses the appeal. So far my only option has been to remove the over used images after a while and cycle in some of the old ones I removed before. But that's not really all that satisfying a solution.I searched around google, talked to some friends, and generally applied my brain to the issue for a few months without any breakthrough, and decided to seek some info from this forum since it seems to be fairly chocked full of people who have considerable knowledge of the concerned operating system, big surprise considering that is the point of the forum eh?
