View 2 Replies View RelatedSystem: Win7x64 pro, 32gb RAM, Asus Z77, i7 2600k. Normally boots in less than 60 secs Now, today it will boot to a Black Screen with a movable white mouse arrow (not a blinking cursor).
BUT ONLY if the NIC is enabled and the LAN cable is connected. If I unplug the lan cable or disable the NIC in the BIOS it boots fine. Additionally, if I leave the NIC enabled but unplug the lan cable until AFTER it boots to the desktop, I'm fine. (Thus, I can't assume it's a driver issue. Something is happening upon boot via the network.)
I've looked in the Event Viewer and can find where I have to power off the system via a hard reset and I can see errors when it boots and it sees the NIC unplugged but I can't find anything else.
Something else, it only happens on my User Account. I created another account (aptly called Black Screen) and it booted fine with the NIC enabled and plugged in.
I'm running NIS2012, updated and have done a full scan twice now.
Finally, thinking it was a startup service/program under my original user account I used msconfig to disable all non MS services and disable every startup. It still booted to a Black Screen w/cursor if the NIC was enabled and plugged in. Furthermore, Safemode w/o networking is fine but safemode w/networking has the same problem. BUT ONLY IF THE NIC IS PLUGGED IN AT BOOT - NOT AFTER THE BOOT.
Edit: updated Malwarebytes - scanned and found nothing. Used MS Security Essentials - scanned and found nothing.
When I connect my HDMI cable to my laptop and the TV my PC screen goes black. When i take out the cable it becomes OK
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Pro (RTM) installed on a DELL Precision M65 laptop.
My LAN interface reports "Cable unplugged" although the cable is inserted and working.
I have no network connection through this interface.
the onboard NIC is a Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit adapter and the driver reports it is working correctly.
If i try to install the latest driver from Broadcom, Windows says I already have the latest driver installed!
Any Suggestions?
I have a new gaming computer with a high end video card and plenty of RAM and a high speed cable Internet connection. I also have a HDHomeRun TV cable unit which is listed to work with MS Media Center. When I set up my Media Center/TV connection it recognizes my HDHomeRun TV connection and all three TV channels via my MCard I got from Comcast cable. But next to the last dialog window, during setting up my TV connection, I got the following message, "Your computer is not digital cable ready. You will not be able to set it up for use with a cable card."

View 1 Replies View RelatedAll PSU SATA power cables I've seen have only four connectors on each cable. Assuming the rail can handle the load and the wire used is large enough to avoid a voltage drop, is there any reason why there can't be more than four HDDs on a cable?
What I am wanting to do is run an SSD (boot/program) and six data drives (probably 2 TB WD Greens) on a single cable that I can make up (the PSU is a modular Corsair HX750; a bit oversized but that will cut down on heat and, hopefully, increase the life of the PSU) to cut down on cable clutter (the case I want to use is a bit tight; space to put it is a problem so it needs to be small). The original cables are made with 18 AWG wire. By using #14 AWG wire, the calculated voltage drop at the last HDD in the string (the SDD would be first) will actually be less than on the Corsair cable. The computer would read or write to no more than two of the HDDs (and the SDD) at any one time. There will also be two hot swap bays (3.5" and 2.5") in the computer (for making back ups) as well as an optical drive but each one of those three will get their own cable.
I want share (file & Drive) my Desktop & Laptop to each other with only a cable connection.
other thing, is it possible to lan cabling between Win 7 & Win XP or any problem to do it?

Is it the "Dual Link" type that I need ? (guess I don't know what is meant by dual-link).
For regular coax cables, like used for TV antenna, there are short cable sections that are thin and flat, to permit the cable to fit under closed windows or doors.I'm wondering if anything like that is available for ethernet cables?

Other Windows 7 computers on the same router/internet connection work fine.I have already tried the following all of which were not successful.
-Plug in a different cable.
-Reboot the computer.
-Disable and then re-enable the connection.
-Restore to a previous system point.
-Inspect the connector for a problem with the pins.
-Look at the device manager for problems.
-Work through the windows troubleshooter.
The device is described as a Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet, although it does not appear to be a separate card and looks to be built into the motherboard. The Motherboard is Alienware 04VFW2 version A02.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows 7 (x86) today, but have found some trouble with getting a Internet Connection.
I'm using a dc-202 router. Windows doesn't detect any connections, and when going to network connections it says: Local area connections ; network cable unplugged (tho the cable IS plugged in, and my driver is up to date). My Ethernet card is a VIA Rhine II compatible fast Ethernet adapter.
I already tried to reinstall windows and to skip the router, and just connect directly to the Modem. Even then, I get an error stating: unidentified network. So when i go trough the router, i can't see any connections, when i go directly trough the modem i do get a network, although i cannot connect to the Internet). I can't go on the Internet either way.
I hope this is enough information, otherwise i have some typing to do (cant post on my own computer, or use LAN)
My problem is i cannot connect my laptop using wireless network connection list. but i can if i connect through cable. i had trobleshoot da problem (router & acces point do match to wireless.)
