View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat's been going on with my HDMI port. 2 nights ago I was watching a movie through my Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop through my Panasonic HDTV. Yesterday, I tried to connect my HDMI cable to my laptop and computer, but nothing happened...So frantically I've been searching everywhere and trying what I have so far with no progress...
1.System Restore to earlier date when my HDMI port was working.
2.Toggle Computer/Duplicate/Extended/Projector Only and nothing worked(Also made sure tv was on the right HDMI input)
3.Tried 3 different HDMI cables and HDMI inputs
4.Uninstalled all sound drivers and Display Adapter(Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
5.Contacted Dell and had them try to reinstall drivers
6. Checked BIOS but I couldn't find any enable/disable feature for video.
7. Took battery out of laptop waited for 30 seconds pressed power button to reset.
My Panasonic TV doesn't even show up under my playback devices and when I try and do a dual screen through screen resolution it says another display not connected. I've tried going Intel HD Graphics Control Panel as well...no such Luck! Beginning to think that my HDMI port on my laptop is broken.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSystem: Win7x64 pro, 32gb RAM, Asus Z77, i7 2600k. Normally boots in less than 60 secs Now, today it will boot to a Black Screen with a movable white mouse arrow (not a blinking cursor).
BUT ONLY if the NIC is enabled and the LAN cable is connected. If I unplug the lan cable or disable the NIC in the BIOS it boots fine. Additionally, if I leave the NIC enabled but unplug the lan cable until AFTER it boots to the desktop, I'm fine. (Thus, I can't assume it's a driver issue. Something is happening upon boot via the network.)
I've looked in the Event Viewer and can find where I have to power off the system via a hard reset and I can see errors when it boots and it sees the NIC unplugged but I can't find anything else.
Something else, it only happens on my User Account. I created another account (aptly called Black Screen) and it booted fine with the NIC enabled and plugged in.
I'm running NIS2012, updated and have done a full scan twice now.
Finally, thinking it was a startup service/program under my original user account I used msconfig to disable all non MS services and disable every startup. It still booted to a Black Screen w/cursor if the NIC was enabled and plugged in. Furthermore, Safemode w/o networking is fine but safemode w/networking has the same problem. BUT ONLY IF THE NIC IS PLUGGED IN AT BOOT - NOT AFTER THE BOOT.
Edit: updated Malwarebytes - scanned and found nothing. Used MS Security Essentials - scanned and found nothing.
i just bought a Lan Cable to make a network between my desktop and laptop so i can make a file transfer between them, and play games over lan
My Desktop has Windows 7 32x-Bit

via TCP/Ip v4
Laptop:
192.168.1.2

View 9 Replies View Relatedhow do i get sound from HDMI cable to TV
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have happily been viewing movies etc from my laptop to my TV via an HDMI cable for the last 2 years. However, I installed Windows 7 and at first I had no audio to my TV via the HDMI cable. I adjusted the settings via the sound icon on the taskbar, playback tab, changing whether the speakers or the Digital Output Device (HDMI), Sigmatel High Definition Audio Codec was the default. Eventually I got it to work.
Today, however it has stopped working again and no matter what changes I make, nothing works. When I right click on the playback device Digital Output Device (HDMI) and choose TEST, I get the message: Failed to play test tone. All sound comes through the laptop speakers.
I went to device manager and checked the driver for the codec and it was up to date. I downloaded all available updates from Windows and my laptops software updates and just now re-installed my sound and video drivers but to no avail.
When I was using Vista, to get the audio all I had to do was plug in the HDMI cable and the sound automatically went through the TV.
Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this?

But since I had enough of the bad sound quality I bought an optical cable and connected it. Now I have the problem that my subwoofer gives a lot of less sound then with the aux cable with the exact same settings and music. Also my pc recognises the optical cable as an HDMI cable and I don't think this is right. I can't change any settings either in the sound.
