How-to Completely Remove Windows Mobile Device Center
Oct 6, 2010I installed WMDC on my Windows 7 x64 here the other day, but i don't need it anymore, so i want to remove it. Thought it was enough uninstalling the two entries in "Programs and Features" but there is still two or more services left behind as well as a folder in: "C:WindowsWindowsMobile", and the WMDC icon in the control panel.
how to completely uninstall/remove WMDC? My guess is that i have to dive into the registry?

Jul 14, 2010The SW I am using to synchronize my Windows Mobile phone with my desktop Outlook recently turned more and more sour and eventually always only seconds after connecting the device reproducibly crashed with the message "Window mobile Device Center Sync Host has stopped working.".Eventually I decided to uninstall "Windows Mobile Device Center" and re-install it.To reinstall I ran the setup.exe program that I had found in C:WindowsWindowsMobile. But apparently that was either not the right setup file or some pieces must still be missing, because since that re-install the greenish dialog that used to open when starting WMDC lacks the right part of the content and instead there is now always an alert popping up: "unhandled exception has occured in your application ...." (the details I append below).That means, that my mobile device synchronization is now completely f*$#%# up. Any idea how to re-install Window Mobile Device Center plus Mobile Sync Center such that they work again?[CODE]

After deciding I didn't want it, I uninstalled the software. However, when you click on the network icon in the bottom right hand corner that lists the wireless networks in the area you can access, it still has "Time Warner Mobile 3G" listed at the very top under Dial-up and VPNs. Can anyone tell me how I can get rid of that listing since I no longer have the device or the software?.

The connection to my phone has been successful, but it won't update Microsoft outlook. It tells me to make 'outlook your default email'. I have Microsoft Outlook 2000 (because that is what I had previously!) and each time I open it, it asks me if I want to make it the default email manager, and I click 'yes' - then it asks again and click 'yes'. But it clearly fails. I've tried going into 'Default Programmes' but Outlook is not even listed. I've tried 'repairing' Outlook and that hasn't worked.

It worked fine but it has been about 9 months since I last used it. I have made sure I have the latest drivers downloaded from vodaphone and when I try the dongle in my sons laptop it installs and works fine. I thought I would uninstall the driver from device manager but when I try to do this it just sits there for hours. I have to end up closing device manager down using task manager. Mar 23, 2011I have an HP rp5700 system which is connected to a Windows Mobile (6.1) device. If the mobile device is plugged in and turned on, the computer will hang on the HP Event bootup options screen. None of the options will be displayed at the bottom. If I then either a) unplug the device b) undock the device or c) turn off the device, the boot options will appear, and Windows will then boot up without an issue.I tried changing the boot order, but to no avail. I've also tried unplugging the device, going into BIOS, and plugging the device back in - the BIOS screen gets really, really sluggish until I unplug/undock/switch off the device.
The BIOS is up to date. This doesn't happen with Windows XP Pro, only Windows 7 (Professional, 32-bit). One suggestion I heard was that Windows 7 has issues with connected devices it thinks are USB flash drives (although the device in question isn't in USB mode at the time). I have no other USB devices connected, as the mouse and keyboard are both PS2.

I figure, I like the way Media Center looks in Windows 7, and it's a whole helluva lot easier to use than WD's menus (for example, I can't simply search for an artist or album or title while browsing through the Music folder), why not just try to find someone out there that's been able to turn WDTV devices into a WM Extender.

Apr 28, 2011I got my computer six months ago and never bothered with Windows Media Center. In order to see TV on my computer, I needed a TV tuner. Since I am a member with Netflix and Microsoft promoted Netflix working on the Center, I tried to use it without the tuner and just play media from my hard drive and Netflix but it did not work. The Netflix rep. said they had issues with it working with their software. In addition, the Microsoft tech. said I needed the tuner for it to work at all. Six months later, I get an email from Microsoft suggesting uninstalling software I do not use to improve the PC�s performance. Therefore, I decided to get rid of Windows Media Center never using it. However, I wanted to try it again and see if it could work now. To my surprise, it worked beautifully organizing the media from my hard drive and Netflix worked on it. I had to download software to get it working and I do not know what I downloaded but it seemed to work. Then, suddenly the screen went black with the white curser from my mouse the only thing I could see. I tried to reboot a minute later and I was able to log on but instead of going to the desktop, a black screen reappeared. I shut the computer down and waited 20 minutes before turning it on. After I logged in, Windows 7 opened to the desktop. Are there any issues with Windows Media Center and, can I operate it without a TV tuner or should I uninstall it since I do not plan to get the TV tuner?

That is, the small coloured button on the left hand side of the screen, to the left of the Text TV button. Also, the two button to the left of the coloured button, I am grateful for any advice. My TV works just fine by the way, jsut that I like to know what option there is to use.

Control/alt/delete-task manager has Skype program running and some times another program. If I end all tasks, computer begins operating normally. Nov 29, 2009I have a dual screen setup (PC & TV) & just upgraded from mce2005. Whenever mce2005 started up, media center automatically displayed on my tv screen rather than my pc monitor. With Windows 7 it seems to display on my PC monitor at startup, even though I have dragged it onto the tv screen the previous time I used it. Is there a way I can get it to start up on my tv screen but keep my PC monitor as my primary screen? My video card is an nVidia GeForce 7300LE
PS It's also time for a video card upgrade as live TV is very choppy - would people recommend ATI or nVidia?

Mar 12, 2012i am having an issue with media center through my Xbox 360 i am using a VGA cable to my Xbox and running it through a monitor everything is fine when i'm playing games and what not but when i open media center it has weird lines across the screen i have tried everything i can think of, i changed the resolution and it didn't have lines but obviously the picture wasn't quite right, change the resolution back to normal and the lines come back.

Jul 10, 2012Lately when I run Windows Media Center and I'm watching live TV, the screen will just go black and the sound will stop. I can't get anything to come up on the monitor (goes into sleep mode), yet the hard drive is still going and power is on the pc. I have to power down the pc and reboot it. I have checked all my power settings and made sure they are good, I have the latest driver for my Nvidia graphics card.
I never had this problem and then began about a month ago and seemed to go away. Lately it is back. WMC will play live tv for about 10 minutes and then black screen. I have run malware and anti virus programs, nothing detected. Updated graphics card, pc isn't overheating. I have run out of ideas why WMC is going to a black screen. If I run just the pc, I have no problems, it's only when WMC is running.

Jun 8, 2011it all happened a couple of weeks ago when i let my idiotic girlfriend borrow my external hard drive which ultimately led to it no longer working due to the usb port coming off.i was trying to retrieve the data on it because my gateway p-78 series could when in the proper position detect the data on it. because the usb was no longer attached to it i saw a small shortage that shut my computer off.although i was able to turn my computer back on i went into the device manager because my usb ports were no longer able to read external devices like cameras or my zune mp3. when i went into the device manager it stated that my usb devices (forgot which ones) where shut off to prevent harm to my computer.i didnt think of it as much because my computer was working perfectly fine with the exception of the usb drives...so i turned them back on and restarted my computer and got black screen.my computer turns on, i can hear the fan running and my computers keyboard seems to work also because i can turn on and off the lights on my computer by pressing fn+f3 but i cant automatically shut down my computer because the only way i can is by removing the battery.

Feb 11, 2011I run Windows 7 64bit os with an Orange high Speed (!) mobile broadband dongle (515m). The software (Internet Everywhere) stopped working months ago and after much arguing with Orange, they admitted that it was a software compatibility problem with my os but promised that an update would be coming soon. They gave a workaround which meant the dongle worked on dial up (with associated speed). However, after waiting months for the update, it's finally arrived but it still doesn't work! Just like the last software version, after installing it clean, it crashes at start up and won't operate. Last night I had to stay up hours to roll back my system to get the dial up working again as it prevented that from working too. I'm really sick of this and Orange's response has been woefully unsatisfactory, bordering on insulting. The latest gem was to uninstall everything internet connected then download the software! How? This has been pretty much the level of response from Orange. I'm about ready to cancel my contract with them for breach of contract.
Oh, my laptop is an Acer Aspire 7540.
