Windows 7 Won't Boot With Windows Mobile Device Plugged In/turned On?
Mar 23, 2011
I have an HP rp5700 system which is connected to a Windows Mobile (6.1) device. If the mobile device is plugged in and turned on, the computer will hang on the HP Event bootup options screen. None of the options will be displayed at the bottom. If I then either a) unplug the device b) undock the device or c) turn off the device, the boot options will appear, and Windows will then boot up without an issue.I tried changing the boot order, but to no avail. I've also tried unplugging the device, going into BIOS, and plugging the device back in - the BIOS screen gets really, really sluggish until I unplug/undock/switch off the device.
The BIOS is up to date. This doesn't happen with Windows XP Pro, only Windows 7 (Professional, 32-bit). One suggestion I heard was that Windows 7 has issues with connected devices it thinks are USB flash drives (although the device in question isn't in USB mode at the time). I have no other USB devices connected, as the mouse and keyboard are both PS2.
I installed WMDC on my Windows 7 x64 here the other day, but i don't need it anymore, so i want to remove it. Thought it was enough uninstalling the two entries in "Programs and Features" but there is still two or more services left behind as well as a folder in: "C:WindowsWindowsMobile", and the WMDC icon in the control panel.
how to completely uninstall/remove WMDC? My guess is that i have to dive into the registry?
The SW I am using to synchronize my Windows Mobile phone with my desktop Outlook recently turned more and more sour and eventually always only seconds after connecting the device reproducibly crashed with the message "Window mobile Device Center Sync Host has stopped working.".Eventually I decided to uninstall "Windows Mobile Device Center" and re-install it.To reinstall I ran the setup.exe program that I had found in C:WindowsWindowsMobile. But apparently that was either not the right setup file or some pieces must still be missing, because since that re-install the greenish dialog that used to open when starting WMDC lacks the right part of the content and instead there is now always an alert popping up: "unhandled exception has occured in your application ...." (the details I append below). That means, that my mobile device synchronization is now completely f*$#%# up. Any idea how to re-install Window Mobile Device Center plus Mobile Sync Center such that they work again?[CODE]
My PC connects to internet with a USB Data Connection. I would like to connect the following two mobile cell phones using the network of my PC,I have already connected a USB Wifi device on my PC. Now will it be possible for my Mobile Phones to use the internet connectivity of my PC through WiFi (USB Device). If yes - please let me know how to go about it? Please elaborate step by step.
I bought a new MP4 from ebay, and it came with a usb cable, however when I plug the usb cable in to my computer, it will not find the device. It will only charge.
I have searched around here for my problem and can't find a solution to my problem.I have two SATA HDD's plugged into my computer, one of them has the operating system on it and the other one has my old XP installation and loads of others, although might have been formatted. When I tried removing the old XP one the computer does not boot up after bios, with the error along the lines of,"Can not find the boot device, please insert.
when I turn on my pc I get the follolwing error message "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key".
I just restarted my PC and i kept getting erros regarding hardware, at first it would just hold at updating dmi pool , after i reset the bios to fail safe defaults it would then give me the I/O error. I noticed my external drive was turned off and I turned it on and windows booted fine. Is there a connection here i can disable?
Windows is installed on my SSD drive not my external.
i recently got an update from microsoft on win 7, and immediately after it had finished updating i had no sound in any application (aim, skype, chrome, firefox, Internet, etc.). this has happened before, and i ran microsoft's sound problems wizard and it always said that an option had been clicked off and that it had restored it.this time when i ran the wizard it says it detects no problems. i am sure it is the software, as it happens a lot with ms updates. will downloadi can't go back to a previous configuration, i don't have one to go to
I recently took advantage of the 30-day trial for Time Warner Mobile and installed their USB device and software. (They use the same WiMax network as Sprint and Clearwire.) After deciding I didn't want it, I uninstalled the software. However, when you click on the network icon in the bottom right hand corner that lists the wireless networks in the area you can access, it still has "Time Warner Mobile 3G" listed at the very top under Dial-up and VPNs. Can anyone tell me how I can get rid of that listing since I no longer have the device or the software?.
I have a new PC which is a 64bit system and is running Windows 7. I have installed Mobile Device Manager to connect to my phone. The connection to my phone has been successful, but it won't update Microsoft outlook. It tells me to make 'outlook your default email'. I have Microsoft Outlook 2000 (because that is what I had previously!) and each time I open it, it asks me if I want to make it the default email manager, and I click 'yes' - then it asks again and click 'yes'. But it clearly fails. I've tried going into 'Default Programmes' but Outlook is not even listed. I've tried 'repairing' Outlook and that hasn't worked.
I have installed Itunes version 10.3.1.55 on my computer(windows7 x86), and since that Itunes refuses to sync to my Iphone. On the previous versions of Itunes everything was just fine. I went to the Service pannel and when trying to start the AMDS and I keep gettng this error "Windows could not start the apple device service on local computer : Error1067"...I've googled the matter and seems like no one on the blogs I visited got this figured out...Apple support is even worse, they keep telling you to install and the uninstall itunes, delete temp filesetc and try the whole thing back again..
I am having a problem starting my PC! I have to start it in the boot menu under the RAID option. If I do not do this a message saying "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.." comes up, and just keeps popping up regardless of what I press! I would try using my boot disk but for the life of me I can't find it, and as windows 7 was already installed on this computer when we got it 3 year ago, I can't accurately recall if it came with one!I am no expert on BIOS, but I have read other problems similar to this one, and know that if I don't have the boot disk or the OS disk, I will need to know that at least.I am curious if the (Hard drive) is the issue. The BIOS tells me that anything in parentheses is disabled from corresponding type menu.
I recently received a new laptop. After starting after time with no problems I received a blue screen with Verticle black stripes then it shut off. After attempting to reboot it I receive this error in a black DOS like screen.

I am having trouble getting my vodaphone dongle for internet access on the road installed. My PC refuses to install the drivers properly. It worked fine but it has been about 9 months since I last used it. I have made sure I have the latest drivers downloaded from vodaphone and when I try the dongle in my sons laptop it installs and works fine. I thought I would uninstall the driver from device manager but when I try to do this it just sits there for hours. I have to end up closing device manager down using task manager. I am running Windows 7 on an HP G62 Notebook.
Whenever a USB device is plugged into my laptop (any of the USB ports), the CPU usage goes way up. It stays up even when the device is then unplugged, and the only way to bring it back down is to either reboot, or to go into "sleep" (when Windows resumes the problem is gone).
The Windows 7 resource monitor indicates that the problem is System Interrupts - Deferred Procedure Calls and Interrupt Service Routines. I have updated my drivers for each thing, and that has not helped. Not has lots of Google searches on this problem.
Running Windows 7 Home Professional 64 bit, on a Toshiba Portege R705-P41.
Anything that I plug into the usb ports isn't recognized on my computer. When I plug something in, my computer doesn't make the usual "bloomp" sound and nothing pops up. When I search for my usb in my computer, it's not there. My computer acts like I didn't plug anything in.
get my Windows 7 64 bit PC to reconize my HTC Inspire cell phone. What happens is when I plu it in to any USB port I get an pop up error "USG Device Not Recognized" and looking at my device manager/Serial Bus Controllers it says "Unknown Device". I uninstalled every controller and restarted PC and they re installed and still get the same error. I installed the HTC driver from their web site and still same error. Whats odd it doesn't work on this PC but works on my other laptop.
When it crashes the cursor still moves and sometimes I can move windows around but then it all shuts down and sometimes briefly shows a blue screen of death. On reboot I sometimes get this message and have to reboot again. "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"It's a brand new box just built last week but no warranty and I would not even know what part to replace if it's hardware related.I've attached a Hijackthis to the post if it helps but I don't think it's virus related at all.
When left alone..."Reboot and select proper boot device or Insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"I have a new(ish) cpu that I bought last Christmas, it works great and it has not crashed on me whenever I am using it. However, when I leave it on overnight (usually when it is downloading something big), when I wake up in the morning I am greeted with a black screen with the words:"Reboot and select proper boot device or Insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"When this happens I simply press the power button a few seconds to turn it off, then turn it on again and it boots normally. (pressing a key only results in the message being repeated)What infuriates me is that it only ever happens when I leave it on overnight so I don't know when and how exactly it occurs but it almost always does. Like I said earler, it never does this when I am using it as it works fine otherwise. It just won't stay on overnight when I need it to.

My laptop wouldn't boot yesterday, the fan came on and the 'on' led came one, it beeped when I plugged in the charger but nothing on the screen and no post beeps etc. I let the battery drain fully, plugged it back in once it powered off and it booted fine. I shut it down last night and it did the same today on boot up, nothing. Again, discharging the battery fully brought it back.
I've been getting really annoying sounds while playing CS:S that freezes the screen for half a second.. It sounds like the device plugged in / device removed sound.. and it happens randomly. It even happens when I'm not playing any games. I don't have any USB devices that are plugged in except for my USB mouse.
I don't know if its a coincidence, but I left my blu-ray drive open when I turned my PC off, and all hell broke loose. Now I get these Unmounable Boot Volume. So Far,
- I've switched around the boot configuration. I've taken out the cmos battery. - I've disconnected my 2nd hard drive - I've reset bios default settings - I've switched the SATA ports
I don't know what else to do, because I don't want to do a Fresh OS install. Right now I'm just working on 1 hard drive. my second 1tb is disconnected from power and data and I'm having the same problem. I also just disconnected my Blu-ray drive. And I did the start up repair. Niether worked.
