View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever a USB device is plugged into my laptop (any of the USB ports), the CPU usage goes way up. It stays up even when the device is then unplugged, and the only way to bring it back down is to either reboot, or to go into "sleep" (when Windows resumes the problem is gone).
The Windows 7 resource monitor indicates that the problem is System Interrupts - Deferred Procedure Calls and Interrupt Service Routines. I have updated my drivers for each thing, and that has not helped. Not has lots of Google searches on this problem.
Running Windows 7 Home Professional 64 bit, on a Toshiba Portege R705-P41.
I bought a new MP4 from ebay, and it came with a usb cable, however when I plug the usb cable in to my computer, it will not find the device. It will only charge.

What happens is when I plu it in to any USB port I get an pop up error "USG Device Not Recognized" and looking at my device manager/Serial Bus Controllers it says "Unknown Device". I uninstalled every controller and restarted PC and they re installed and still get the same error. I installed the HTC driver from their web site and still same error. Whats odd it doesn't work on this PC but works on my other laptop.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe weirdest thing happened to my Thinkpad T510 when I was updating my new Blackberry 9900 yesterday where I left my computer on while it was updating and went to bed. I woke up and my girlfriend closed the lid and when I reopened it there was a BSOD. Idiotically I didn't take a picture of it but once I tried restarting the computer it got stuck at the Windows boot screen where the Windows logo glows. I tried restarting again and I chose to go into Startup recovery provided by the Thinkvantage software. I left it there for the whole day when it was attempting to fix disk errors but all it did was just continue the scanning mode, and when I tried to cancel I couldn't. I restarted once again and tried to go into Rescue and Recovery mode that Thinkpads have and when I got in I got an error message:

I don't have any USB devices that are plugged in except for my USB mouse.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HP rp5700 system which is connected to a Windows Mobile (6.1) device. If the mobile device is plugged in and turned on, the computer will hang on the HP Event bootup options screen. None of the options will be displayed at the bottom. If I then either a) unplug the device b) undock the device or c) turn off the device, the boot options will appear, and Windows will then boot up without an issue.I tried changing the boot order, but to no avail. I've also tried unplugging the device, going into BIOS, and plugging the device back in - the BIOS screen gets really, really sluggish until I unplug/undock/switch off the device.
The BIOS is up to date. This doesn't happen with Windows XP Pro, only Windows 7 (Professional, 32-bit). One suggestion I heard was that Windows 7 has issues with connected devices it thinks are USB flash drives (although the device in question isn't in USB mode at the time). I have no other USB devices connected, as the mouse and keyboard are both PS2.
When ever i plug my xbox 360 wireless receiver device, my pc gets the blue screen and restarts itself, when its unplugged, everything is fine and no crashes? My PC spec is Windows 7 pro 32 bit, e8500 3.5ghz, ATI 6850, 4gb RAM?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy computer crashes whenever I plug a USB device in it. I first noticed it when I plugged in a camera, thinking it was the camera, I then tried my own flash drive which worked fine (Possibly using fat32 format); but yesterday I tried my mates flash drive (NTFS) and that crashed it, I've also tried a bunch of other flash drives around the house and they also crash my computer.I'm running windows 7 64 bit, ASUS p8z68-v pro mobo, i5 2500k, 4GB DDR3 1600MHz ripjaw, Sapphire HD6950.I have tried running memtest which passed 13 times flawlessly. I also tried running driver verifier, which seemed to really screw me over. At the start, when the windows logo first appears, it hangs a little bit and then blue screens. Luckily I had made a system repair disk the night before. I also don't know why but when I tried to start in safe mode (pressing f8 while booting) all it gave me was the option to choose which device to boot from, which I'm guessing is some sort of feature on my mobo, but I digress. So I'm guessing it's something to do with USB drivers?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HP tx2-1020US laptop that I just did a clean install of Windows 7 Build 7100 on. So far, things are working pretty well with the exception of 2 issues. First off, under the device manager, I have an 'unknown device' listed. All of the manufacturer, etc. details are unknown. The only piece of info is the hardware id property which is:
USBVID_1B96$PID_0001&REV_0000&MI_02
USBVID_1B96&PID_0001&MI_02
Thus far, I have not been able to find any components which are not working and I have no external USB devices connected to the system. Any ideas how I would go about figuring out what device this is and finding a driver for it?
Then, the second issue is that every time I restart or shutdown the system, it flashes a BSOD. It then reboots without any problems and gives me the windows startup screen asking if I want to use safe mode or boot normally. If I boot normally, Windows gives me a pop-up saying the previous shut down was unexpected, but not other details. I have checked the logs and there is nothing in any of the Windows event logs.
The BSOD screen lists no driver, dll, or sys file, simply the following string of hex codes.
STOP: 0x0000003B (0x00000000C0000046, 0XFFFFF80002A82C4C, 0xFFFFF88008070080, 0X0000000000000000)
I found reference to the first 0x0000003Bcode in google relating to video issues, but I have the latest 64-bit Windows 7 driver installed from ATI already. So, can anybody offer any further translation of these codes?
I often get random BSOD's when copying files to an external USB device. I haven't been able to tell what's triggering them. It can be a large group of files or sometimes even smaller files, so don't know if it's related to file size Am unfamilar with troubleshooting BSOD's.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using an Alienware M17x R4 with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 660m.
I've been using this laptop for about 3 months now and everything has been running fine. Yesterday, I was playing Skyrim testing out a new mod from nexusmods. I've read on the description and comments and there were no problems associated with the mod. While I was using it a received a BSOD. When I restarted the computer my resolution was reset. I right clicked on the desktop and the options for my Nvidia control panel were gone along with the other options for the Intel Graphics control panel.
After a while my first display adapter came back which was the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000. I looked up as much as I could about the problem and it was usually associated with the display adapters being reverted to something like Standard VGA Adapter. This applied to the Intel graphics, but that was all. It was as if my graphics card vanished and I can't find it under device manager. When I try installing/reinstalling the Nvidia drivers it says that there is no Nvidia hardware. I've tried waiting a couple of hours with the laptop shut down, finding it in safemode, and searched for even more solutions. I can't seemed to find any. The last thing I did was check the BIOS and it said that the Discrete Graphics Card was not detected.
Trying to play a game and since it's Jap, I had to change the system locale to Japan. After rebooting, because it requires a reboot, I got a BSOD in about a minute. I thought it was okay and wouldn't happen again because it ran out of memory or something. After I reboot, I got another BSOD and now it's saying "Reboot or insert proper boot device.
I went to the BIOS and my HD was the first boot priority. I'm a total noobie when it comes to computers.
I have an ASUS K52F-BBR5 Notebook. Could my HD be corrupted or is there a way to fix this? I'm currently finding my installation disk to see if I can do a startup repair.
i know the general solution to the problem "uninstall Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" and all but like an idiot.i uninstalled mine in safe mode = its not showing up again like it would once you scan for hardware changes I need a way to get my Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery back because now I have TWO problems.. 1, still won't charge.. and 2, I cannot see the battery icon or enable it and don't have my Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery

I had not used my desktop for one week due to some problem of too much dust accumlating in the machine. Due to this the system would not power up. After the dust was removed, system powers up but i now get this problem with sound. Before this everything was fine. The speakers work fine on the laptop.I installed the drivers from the motherboard driver disc. I am using a gigabyte board (GA-G31M-ES2L).I have installed the drivers directly from the gigabyte website for my motherboard as well as from the realtek website. Also updated bios online from gigabyte server. But none of these methods causes sound to be restored.Theres no exclamation mark by the audio drivers in Device Manager. I have removed the audio drivers and after a restart, i still get the "no speakers or headphones are plugged in" error on the speaker icon.In device manager after restarting the system, i get the "high definition audio" device listed under "Sound, video and game controllers".Now i am wondering there is something wrong with the motherboard.
Just finished building a new computer and my sound will not work. I have installed and uninstalled drivers several times now.

Then, it will proceed to switch back and fourth between plugged in and not, forcing my laptop to switch between power modes. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've spent days researching this problem and have found no solutions. I plug the Microsoft wireless mobile mouse 3500 transceiver into my USB 2.0 port and the cursor movements are so erratic that the mouse is useless. I try to use a Microsoft wired mouse connected to the USB 2.0 port and it does not work at all. However, both the wireless mobile mouse and wired mouse work perfectly when plugged into one of the two USB 3.0 ports.
This problem occurs on my Dell XPS 17 L702X laptop, which is less than three weeks old. The laptop is running Win 7 Ultimate x64. I have installed the latest drivers from Microsoft's website. I have uninstalled them and reinstalled them but the problem remains. I have exchanged the Microsoft wireless mobile mouse 3500 for a new one but the identical problem remains.
I do not have this problem on my Dell Studio XPS 7100, which is also running Win 7 Ultimate x64. The same mice that fail to work properly on the laptop's USB 2.0 port work perfectly with the USB 2.0 ports on the desktop. Everything in Device Manager (laptop) is up to snuff and no problems are indicated.
