Get Around Space Requirement On SP Install?
Jan 15, 2011I'm trying to install SP1 for Windows 7, the beta, and it says I need 9 gig free to install. I only have 6. Is there a way to bypass this at all?

View 9 RepliesJust for fun, I want to attempt to install Windows 7 on a computer that does not meet the official minimum system requirements.
Specs of this PC:
Cyrix MII @ ~300 MHz
768 MB (256 x 3) 100 MHz SDRAM (not DDR) ATI Rage 128 AGP graphics card
80 GB SATA HDD (upgraded, with PCI card for the SATA)
I put the specs of most concern in bold. As for the video card, I can upgrade that if need be. What I'm really wondering is... can the Cyrix II even process the instructions for Windows 7 (albeit extremely slowly, of course) or is its instruction set simply too old?

I have a Getac B300 laptop running W7Pro on a single partition. Through a rather bizarre mix of nostalgia and my love for sheer simplicity, I somehow got it into my head that I wanted to run an XP Pro installation on the same machine.
The next station of this (surely flawed ) thought process led me to wonder whether I could do just that with the already existing Windows 7 installation. I got around to shrinking the C: partition, which netted me some 51 gigs of free space that I figured I could use to create a new partition on which to install XPPro. So far, so good.
As you'd expect by now, simply sticking the XP CD into the DVD drive and restarting the machine just won't work: I got the "XP can't see the hard drive" message. So, armed with Google as my friend, I ended up educating myself about how to use nLite to create a copy with integrated iaahci and iastor. Problem is, Having prepared three copies already, after I start the installation sequence and the XP CD installer starts loading files, I'm ending up with the message "the file iastor.sys could not be found," even though I did make sure to include the file that I downloaded from somewhere in the integration process.
So what am I missing here? What am I doing wrong? (I know that the whole concept is "wrong," but there you have it.)
Here are some of the specs of the machine in question:
Getac B300
32-bit W7P SP1
320GB Toshiba MK2555GSX ATA HDD
3GB RAM
ICH8M chipset.
I have no idea, the F drive has enough space to install it.
I don't know why they tell me that?!
i have what I consider a major problem with my desktop pc, the usuall thing happened switched mine off last night, today will not boot up, I have tried the usual repairs, tried to use the system held repair, unable to get the pc to load, I have tried to complete a new install but every one of my 3 hard drives comes up with the same thing "unable to install not enough space on chosen drive", I am completely stumped.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat is going on with my system. I try to install a program and get an error message saying that it is unable to write to C:Users[MYNAME]AppDataLocalTemp So I open Windows Explorer and check the attributes for that address and all is OK but every time I click on the Application Data folder it seems to replicate itself over and over. One error says that there is not enough space when I have over 65Gb free on that drive.

I am trying to free space in my HD and I when through the uninstall process of all the additional languages I had initially installed (lpksetup) and after clicking on all the languages I wanted to uninstall the system estiamted that I would recover about 8GB. The uninstall went through fine bu I did NOT recover any space, actually the disk utilization went up by about 3GB after windows removed all the additional languages. Then I decided to re-install all the additional langugae just to see if the free space in the HD would increase by 3GB. Well... the free space went down one more time, now by about 6GB. So my HD has additional 9GB of data on it. I have no idea what to do or what folderm, temp file to delete.BTW I already tried:Disk Clean Up Delete all the temp files in all users in AppDataTemp I turned off hibernation before I started all this process I ran windows washer and delete all the temp, cookies, interenet, etc files My laptop has always been running an AV, Spyware so this is not a Virus or Spyware. I already scanned also with Malware Bytes.Any temp folder I should take a look to delete any additional file(s) that are temp or not needed?

i want to add space to my USB drive which is only 480mb and I went to Disk Management and sliced some space off my Hard drive to put onto the USB but when I right click on it the option 'extend' is blanked out! By the way I want to add space, not overwrite but if that what it takes then I will do it: [URL]
View 5 Replies View RelatedI originally had the free space as a D: Drive but decided to reallocate the space used back onto C:. I have gotten this far but am unsure how to continue because the extend drive option for C: is grayed out. I believe this is because the space which used to be D: is still shown as an extended partition. I have a Samsung RC512 with an Intel Core i7 Quad core processor and Windows 7 Home Premium.

My computer keeps saying it is running out of room on C drive. I don't feel like I have that much stuff on my computer. And I feel like seeing as it is a relatively new computer I shouldn't be having this problem. is there an easier way to clean out my computer then to go through every file, every picture, every song to decided if I should delete it or not?
i was running Slitaz Linux (before that Lubuntu) and swapped to Windows 7. computer runs pretty slow, and says i need more disk space. as far as i know i have 2 hard drives installed Seagate ST340810A ATA DEVICE (MASTER) and Quantum Fireball EX6.4A ATA Device (SLAVE) My question is which is bigger? is it possible i installed windows 7 on the smaller one and its not allowing other drive to read? how can I fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy sister sent our PC to her friend to have Windows 7 put on it and now the C: drive is almost maxed out. I don't know if it was that way before it was sent out or not, but it's definitely closer to the max than i would like it to be. I was able to clear about 30gb of space so now there's about 45gb worth of free space out of 143gb total. I have absolutely NO clue what is taking up so much space. Any help to get that number down would be great. We don't have an exorbitant amount of movies, pictures or music files on the computer either. So i'm really lost as to where it could be coming from.

When I click computer from the start menu to view the available disk space it says 44GB. This dropped from 58GB to 44GB today without me installing/changing anything. Also, if I go into the SSD, and make sure view all hidden files and folders is on, if I add up all the space used it is 58GB, 111-58=53 so surely I should have 53GB left?

I am using a laptop that has a SSD. My pc says it has a total of 95.3 GB of space. And it says that 8.3 GB is free. But when I select all the folders in my SSD, the computer says it is only using 60.3 GB of space. I am wondering what happened to the 35 GB of space. I'm not running any other program other than chrome at this point. So I don't think any programs are hogging the space. (Other than the OS and other minor programs, razer synapse, steam etc.)

I've tried deleting all but my last system restore point, and even so, that only uses up 15% so I'm told. It's not going away in chunks, just megabytes at a time. I've done everything online I can find, and nothing stopped it, what's happening here?
