Unable To Install Not Enough Space On Chosen Drive
Apr 27, 2012
i have what I consider a major problem with my desktop pc, the usuall thing happened switched mine off last night, today will not boot up, I have tried the usual repairs, tried to use the system held repair, unable to get the pc to load, I have tried to complete a new install but every one of my 3 hard drives comes up with the same thing "unable to install not enough space on chosen drive", I am completely stumped.

New to the forums and need some help here as I'm lost. I just got my new laptop and noticed that the C drive (O/S) was getting full and wanted to add more space. I deleted the recovery partition of 25GB so I could extend my C partition.
However, I do not have the option to expand my C drive, see the print screen link below:
I also tried using minitool partition wizard which looked to be successful but upon reboot I got an error.

Blood 2: The Chosen was released in 1998 and as such, the installer program on the CD is 16-bit. This means it will not run under Windows 7 x64. But the game can still be installed by manual means. There are 3 files on the CD we need- DATA, GAME and MOVIES. Go to your game folder, create a folder called "Blood 2" or whatever else you wish, and copy all 3 of those folders to that new folder. You're done. Go into the GAME folder, find BLOOD2.EXE and run it. Now then... there are some patches for this game. The last version was 2.21. The installers in these patches will not work either, to your grand frustration. However, both patch files include all the update data in raw folder format. They both have the GAME folder with update files. Simply copy all files over to patch manually. In my case, I had to patch to 2.0 then 2.21.

I was unable to get either my internal or external CD drives to recognize the tax software CD I bought. They "see" & work with music CD's though.I looked in device manager & it says they are working fine. When I look at "my computer" the drive letter that corresponds to the one the disc is in doesn't show as a CD is installed but does show a title of the CD when a music CD is inserted? Dell Inspiron 530 with 3 gb Ram. External CD drive is a Pacific Digital..

I'm installing Windows 7 64bit Home Premium on a Dell Inspiron 1545. Right after the Starting Winoews logo screen it gets stuck at a Dos terminal. the Dos terminal it says: X:windowssystem32> The window itself is titled Administrator: X:windowssystem32cmd.exe, I am using the OEM disk that came with the laptop and I also downloaded one from Dell's website. Both give the same error.

im having this prob where a total of 40GB of space out of 160Gb in my HD cant be formatted. I were using Windows Vista before upgrading it into Win 7....
I had 3 partitions ( c:, d:, & N... All 3 of it works perfectly. The only problem im facing here is with this 40GB of free space which i couldn't Format in anyway.. it keeps on bugging me with this warning of "not enough space to complete operation" thingy...
Here is an image of it, where the green colored free space (39.06Gb)... cant be formatted.
I tried Formatting it while the Windows 7 installation process, yet, i still couldn't do anything.

I bought a 3TB hard drive for my gf and did a fresh install of Windows 7. When I was creating the first partition the Win7 install auto created two more volumes, both labeled as Unalloated. I thought nothing of it as I figured I would be able to merge/create my second partion with the remaining space once Windows was up and running. However, to my dimay I can not create a partition on one of those random Unallocated volumes. I've tried to delete all partition but the one that my OS is running on and I've tried to create two then merger but when I right-click on the second (first one works) volume the option t create a simple volume is greyed out.

Originally got message - Disk read error occurred press ctl alt del to restart. Then tried plugging this drive using a USB connector into my desktop PC to see if I could run some chkdsk. Then my desktop PC displayed messages telling me my firewall and virus software had been turned off and the computer crashed. ROOTKIT? So I was left with 2 drives not working. I re installed windows on desktop but using ISO on flash drive BUT can't on the 500GB Hitachi HTS545050B9SA00 for some reason. Windows setup loaded and Deleted old partitions and formatted. When I tried to install, it froze. It now just boots up with a windows loading screen and I'm also unable to boot from flash drive as it freezes. This is on a Sony Vaio VPCEB4E4E.

I installed Ubuntu on my computer a few months ago and created another partition for it on my 1TB hard drive. I didn't really care for Ubuntu so I decided to delete the partition it was on. That might have been a mistake. Well, now there's 87.68GB of free space on my hard disk that I can't use and I don't know how to add it back to my c: partition.
There was another post about this a couple years ago, but I don't understand the instructions and am not actually sure if it worked. Can someone explain how to do this, please? I'm not completely computer illiterate, but I'm not familiar with partitioning disks. It was just the one time with Ubuntu.

I have my "pictures" folder on a separate disk drive and have set Libraries to include it. However, I still have Microsoft's My Pictures folder and can't get rid of it. As a result, many applications get confused and save files to the wrong folder or I loose files myself. How can I modify the default Library to point ONLY to my chosen folder and not the defaults please? Or alternatively, get rid of the MS default library system completely as I HATE being forced to be organised like this by MS when no alternative is offered that works!

When I looked at the space left, I found out that my C drive and D drive are allocated the same amount of space (232 GB each). Can I allocate more space to the C drive without causing any issues? If so, what would be the proper amount to leave with the D drive.

I have a recent Win764 build less than 6 months old, seems to have a virus or something that is making the hard drive space dissapear. The accual contents are 36GB out of 300GB. The computer will display that there is only 3.75GB left out of 300GB. I ran windirstat and tree and it gives me the correct allocation of data. The data matches what is supposed to be on this drive, there is no random file that is taking up 275GB. Leads me to believe that its a Virus, and cannot find to much on the subject

1. I have a 500 gb HD C and using a empty 2 TB external Drive, it gets to a point (different each time) stops and says nt enough space.
2. This stopping of backking up is annoying in itself. So I hit to restart back up and instead of it continuing whare it left of from the other BU it begins a whole new Bakup. This Time I have 2003 zipped files while the last 2 times I had like 316 on one and 988 on another.
Is this just win 7 and its back ups? I have 2 other programs I can use Nero back up and Mameo, should I reformat disk and try one o them?

About 1 week from today, I installed my copy of Windows 7. I had 92.7 GB free of 123 GB by the end of the day after downloading/installing all of the programs I needed. (I'm ocd so I keep track of how much space I have in my (C) Drive after every download/install.So the next morning I turn my laptop on. What?! I suddenly have 90.8 GB free of 123 GB on my (C) Drive?!Now I'm sitting here a week later down to 88.9 GB free of 123 GB in my (C) Drive.Besides downloading/installing the things I needed, I also did Disk Cleanups where I got rid of of my Windows.old files (XP and Vista). I've also deleted all of my System Restore and Shadow Copies in the More Options tab. Could that be the reason why?
